So good! We always get the tikka masala and butter chicken. They are so nice they can alter the taste to be more sweeter or spicier. Love that :) close to home too we just walk there! Their chai cups are so tiny but they are free!(Bring your own sugar if you don’t like white sugar.)

Food is fantastic. Atmosphere could use some help, but it’s still worth coming for dinner or take out.

In the part of San Mateo where businesses go to rot, this place puts joy in the sad sad plaza with their food. A pretty nice table setting that slightly stands out from the sad old building. I was seated instantly since I got here for an early dinner and there was literally nobody else there. I got the goat curry and shared the eggplant pulp curry. We got butter naan and garlic naan. The naans were good. Butter was simple with good crunch on the outside. The garlic added great flavor. The goat curry had very good flavor. Lots of spices, with cilantro and a bunch of bay leaves with a bit of spiciness. The goat(bone in) kinda needs to be eaten with your hands, but it’s tender and flavorful. The whole thing was very good. The eggplant pulp curry was also very good. Thicker than the goat curry which lent itself to a bit more flavor. A bit more vibrant as well. I may have enjoyed this a bit more than the goat, but both were very good! Service was soft spoken but very nice, and very polite. Each table has their own water jug which is full when you get there. Thought the sitting water everywhere was a bit odd, but it works. Especially if you don’t enjoy all of your drinks freezing cold(I like room temp water). It doesn’t look like much, but I left full and happy. I’ll be back. Check it out.

I was craving dosa and dragged my husband to this place. We ordered masala dosa, idli and mini idli. Dosa was good. I really liked the potato curry that’s comes with it. As I am from Southern part of India, I love idlis. This place definitely disappointed me as the idlis were not fluffy as they are supposed to be. Food deserves 3.5 stars, but the restroom made me bring it down to 3. Indian food is mostly eaten with hand and it becomes mandatory to wash our hands before/after eating. It was really dirty with paper napkins thrown all around. When I see a restroom like that it always makes me wonder how well the kitchen is maintained.

We took our friends here to try out Indian food for the first time, and they loved it! The food was amazing and on point! The reason why I’m giving it 2 stars instead of 5 is because there was NO customer service. It was borderline rude. We asked them what they would recommend trying Indian food for the first time and it was like we were torturing them! Made us feel bad/uncomfortable. When the food came out, they didn’t tell us what was what, and just put it in the center of everyone– which is fine but at least tell us what dish is what. Towards the end I went to pay, I handed them my card, and after they ran it the guy stood there and kept saying«sign! Sign!» They made me feel like I was going to skip out on the bill or something… I know I need to sign, I handed you my card, give me a minute to see if I have cash to tip you, or if I need to put it on my card. Very weird. Such a shame, it was good food. Our group that went was very diverse(black, white, Latin), and its a shame when we go to other cultures restaurants and we get treated differently… And I know this goes for everyone not just us, it’s just hard telling if it’s a customer service issue or a race issue. This I felt was in the middle.

Best Indian fast food in Colorado! I haven’t had indian fast food this good since visiting the legendary Vik’s Chaat in Berkeley, CA. Biju’s Little curry shop delivers on all six of my criteria for 5 stars: 1.) Flavorful: it’s damned tasty. 2.) Healthy: this food may be fast, but it’s homemade and doesn’t include chemicals or added fats and sugars. Whatever your fitness goals or dietary restrictions, there’s a combination for you. If you’re vegetarian, you’re covered. If you’re Paleo, you’re covered. Lactose intolerant? Covered. 3.) Affordable: Tasty, large portions… The price range of $ 7 — $ 13 per person is excellent! I often double down on extra protein :) 4.) Hospitality: Biju and his team are warm and welcoming; they are kind and friendly people. As you might imagine, the staff gets a lot of dumb questions from citizens who are unfamiliar with ethnic cuisines(especially unfamiliar with Biju’s modern vision of south indian fast food)… even so, the staff answers the dumbest questions with delight. There isn’t the faintest whiff of negative energy in this restaurant. In fact, if you’re having a bad day… you should probably go eat here. #GoodForTheSoul 5.) Fast: My longest wait was 6 minutes(due to a long line during the lunch rush hour). Biju’s crew is on top of their game. 6.) Atmosphere: The restaurant is clean and the interior is decorated to have a distinct south indian + modern feel. The outdoor seating in the heart of RINO is great. Conclusion: I’ve tried Indian fast food all over the country; trust me, Biju’s Little Curry Shop is special. *Tip: go for the curry beef… and definitely get the cilantro/mint chutney sauce. Delicious. If you like pickled veg… get a bit of achar on the side and throw it in your curry.

Thrilled to have a dosa place within walking distance. Great value for money and well worth dropping in. Spring dosa was huge — good for two meals and the veg thali had plenty of variety. Ignore the less than appealing exterior and interior in need of some TLC. The food is flavorful and the menu extensive with lots of vegetarian options. Bollywood music videos playing continuously for added atmosphere. Service very prompt, if a little gruff, but hopefully that will improve with additional visits. Really hoping this place has a long and successful run.

This is yet another hidden restaurant in trip mall that doesn’t seem spectacular, but surprise you with good food and friendly service. We cm on a week night and the place as very quiet. The staff was friendly and accommodating, and brought my on a kid-friendly cup of water(which not many restaurants do these days). We had the palak paneer with saffron rice, garlic naan, samosas and curry goat. Boy were we impressed! The palak paneer was silky smooth with the right hint of heat(we asked for mild), and the curry goat was just amazing! The curry was flavorful, spicy but not overpowering, and the goat meat just falls off the bone. The garlic naan was not too special in my opinion and was a bit dry, but overall very yummy food.

I walked by this place a bunch of times. From the outside, it honestly doesn’t look very appealing. It seems like whenever I go by, they aren’t very busy. Plus, restaurants there don’t seem to generate enough business. There was a burger joint and then a café. They were both mediocre. Out of the blue I decided to look them up on Unilocal. It turns out they got some pretty good reviews. I figured what the hell, I’ll give them a shot. I convinced my wife that this would be a good place to go on Valentines Day for lunch… yes…Valentines Day. Yeah…I’m a gambler. I don’t mess around. Anyways, we got there a little after 1. There was a couple groups of people. More people started filling in as time went by. Mostly Indian dudes, so I’m guessing the appeal of this place isn’t just a bunch of Metrosexuals trying to impress their partners with their vast knowledge of world foods. I like Indian food. Apparently, I like South Indian Food quite a bit more. My wife kinda told me the difference. BTW Good gal. She likes Indian food too. She’s probably a lot more choosy than I am. I’ll eat just about anything, as long as I don’t get the sneaking feeling someone dipped their balls in my food. AHHHHHH Just kidding. I’m a tad bit picky, but my girl is a Pescatarian, so her food options are a tad bit limited. She likes what I make, though because I am a bad ass in the kitchen. Back to the Restaurant: The service was good. The atmosphere was good. My wife looked on their website and noticed that it was almost all men running the place. Not that it is a big deal, but it was an observation of hers. There was a picture of the staff and there was one lady practically hiding in obscurity. I told her, «Sweetheart, I know it’s a restaurant, but it’s still a job and guys go to work to get AWAY from their wives.» We had a nice chuckle. See, I’m getting side tracked again. Everybody was cool. The food was really, really good. If the wife gives her thumbs up, the place is the real deal We had Aloo Gobi, the Paneer Biryani and an Onion Rava Masala Dosa.(Honestly, I’m reading the receipt right now. I’m horrible at remembering names, so if we ever meet more than once you won’t take it personally) Everything was fresh. The flavor profiles of each dish were very good. Nice and spicy. Cons: I asked for ice. Apparently they don’t have ice which is a bit odd. I asked for beer. Apparently they don’t have booze… which is also a bit odd. They gotta work on this. Still 5 stars! I hope this place sticks around. We need good food joints in Shoreview.

I order the Vijaywada special biryani(with extra biryani sauce/salan) takeout here at least once a week. The taste is consistent, the chicken succulent and the spice level/heat just perfect. If this place only served vijaywada biryani, they’d get all 5 stars. But I have a vegetarian wife and their dosa/veg options aren’t too much to write home about, hence I docked a star. This(along with the other Tabla restaurant in Foster City) is pretty much the only place that does biryani so well, north of Himalayan Kitchen(in Sunnyvale)

Great crepes for a great creep like me. My date had a great time with me also. I think she liked me. The onions in the food are very yummy here. All the food is really tasty and saucy. The spiciness is just right. The customer service here is superb, maybe even the finest. I’ve always like everything that ends up at this location.

We live very close to this place, and every once in a while I get a craving for rava dosa. So, I was happy to find this place. The rava dosa was nice, and I was hoping this would be a regular dinner place for me, for whenever I get such a craving. However, tonight I had a bad experience that left me really annoyed, and so I felt I must share my experience. I came by for dinner as usual, and ordered my rava dosa. Wife ordered something else. A few minutes after, we were informed that some equipment was down, and they wouldn’t be able to make the rava dosa. So, I told the waiter that I wanted to leave and come back a different time, because I really wanted the rava dosa. No big deal, right? He insisted that I order something else, even when I told him I wanted to cancel my order multiple times. He made me feel really bad about things. He kept on insisting, even standing in my way as I went to get up. At the end of the day, I asked if they started making the other food yet, and he said yes. I hate when food gets wasted, so I reluctantly ordered something else. I tried to not feel bad about this, but it’s really eating away at me and making me feel really annoyed, so thanks for listening to me vent.

I have visited their location in Foster City many years ago and my overall impression there was okay. Since they have opened this San Mateo location I have been their several times. The food is really good. I highly recommend their Thali !!! I usually get their non-veggie thali which features two different meat entrees served with yogurt, dal, rice, nann, a soup like dish that I can’t remember the name of and dessert. Some of my favorites are the Andhara chicken — very mild, goat curry — just a little bit of spice, and butter chicken — very sweet. One of my favorite desserts served with the Thali is Rava Kesari, super YUM!!! Prices are reasonable, Thali is very reasonable. Parking is pretty easy and service is pretty friendly. You have to try this place!!!

We’re happy with this place. Can’t give it a full stellar review cause all we can review in was the food since we got it take out. Don’t know too much about the service. But the food was tasty. We’ll be back to try it as fine in next time.

If you are looking for some authentic South Indian food, you are in the right place. I am Indian and I grew up in south india so you know what I mean ;) Big portions and tasty food. The ulavacharu goat biriyani is out of this world! Make sure you tell them to adjust the spice levels to your preference else they can be a little too intense. Awesome customer service. I go there almost every weekend. Aparna the manager/cashier is very friendly and welcoming. Thanks!

So me and my brother drove around wondering where to go eat. Literally driving circles until he mentioned this place opened up near our house. Since Curry Up Now has gone downhill drastically, I’ve been looking for something quick and close to home to fulfill that indian craving. I’ve seen this location go through lots of different buisnesses. Most recently Tops a burger spot who seemed confused about their identity and a breakfast spot which had little appeal to bring you in. Before those a long list that just couldn’t cut it. A quick look at this place on the outside gave a completely different look to all those who failed in this spot before it. Walking in was a nice change of appearance. They didn’t half fast the the layout inside like the previous places have. The colors they chose, mixed with the copper cups, copper pitchers, indian music, and spices in the air made me feel like this place was legit. We were greeted by a friendly face who sat us down quickly and given water and menu’s right away. A lot of the items had pictures which was nice since I am fairly unexperienced in indian food. Most of it is from Curry Up Now and several Indian buffets which made it easy for me not to have to roam through a menu trying to figure out what I wanted. I ended up asking the waitress for a few recommendations. I figure if they can’t steer you right on the few items they recommend, than the rest of the items on the menu probably isn’t that great either. We kind of order did it on our ordering. Chicken Dosa — Crispy dosa shell stuffed with potatoes and tandori chicken. It was big! This was the first item to come out and I already was regretting how much we ordered since this was so big. It came with a yogurt sauce and another sauce that I’m not quite sure on. It was really good, especially with the sauces. Combo Naan — So much Naan! I quickly went for the garlic naan which is typically my favorite. I’ve never seen a naan with so much garlic. It also came with plain naan which was pretty average and a Tandoori Naan which was my least favorite. I would definately get just the garlic naan or plain naan next time. They all had a great texture to them and came out warm like it should be Chicken Tikki Marsala — OMG! I rushed into this a little too quick. I scooped some on some naan and bite into it right away. The chicken was so hot(tempature) that i nearly burned the roof of my mouth, I sat there with my mouth open for a few seconds trying to let it cool down. Luckily the naan was between my tongue and chicken so I couldn’t feel the burn on it. Ok onto the taste. This is the best chicken tikki marsala I’ve ever had. The chicken was so tender and juicy and that sauce was amazing. I used about 3 pieces of naan just to soak it all up. This will definately be a item I get nearly every trip here. Shrimp Biryani — I don’t have much experience with Biryani. The dish came out and looked delicious, but I didn’t see any shrimp. My brother started scooping away and we finally found the shrimp at the bottom of the bowl in a sauce. This dish had a good amount of spice to it. Not too spicy, but the right amount for me who usually likes heat. It came with a yogurt sauce and another sauce. The rice was cooked perfectly and the dish overall was awesome. Another item I could see myself getting again. The food was really good. The waitress checked on us a few times to make sure everything went well. The pitcher of water at every table was a nice touch since I drink like a fish especially with spicy food. We also had someone who I could only assume was the manager check up on us to ask about our experience as well. He was really nice and noticed he checked on the other tables too. This is always a good sign to show they really care about peoples experience and want to do well. Our total came out to just over $ 40 which wasn’t bad for the amount of food we got. We grabbed the Unilocal offer of $ 15 for $ 25 worth of food which made it even better of a deal. I will definately be back to try more stuff. I was eyeing the non veggie thali which came with a good assortment of food which include chicken and goat curry. Also eyeing the Chicken Tikki Marsala Wrap. Thinking this would be great to go order on my way to work or a quick dinner when feeling lazy. Cliff Notes: Friendly attentive staff. good food, get the garlic naan an chicken tikki marsala

Ooh. So glad we tried this place. Had the chicken tikka masala which was nice and can’t but a tad sweet for my taste. Also head the madras chicken curry which was good. Very flavorful! And creamy. Their mango lassi was good too. Will be back to try more.

Tried this on a whim and really glad I did. Fantastically authentic food. And the open kitchen means you can smell your dinner cooking while you wait. They are not afraid to spice and flavour dishes aggressively. We had chicken vindaloo, chicken saag and the boneless chicken biryani. A note on the biryani is that it is actually properly layered. All the meat and gravy is on the bottom. This was delicious. Service is still a bit dodgy(I am writing this review one week after the grand opening) but very friendly. I will definitely be back.
