I’m purchased a spring matress 1.4 years ago from the San Mateo the matress collapsed, all instructions were foled as to the care and upkeep of the matress and the futon shop obviously this company’s warranty is worthless. any one purchasing merchandise might as well be tossing there money in the gutter

I had a great experience at The Futon Shop in San Mateo. Robert was extremely helpful and very patient — I was there a long time! He seriously listened to me and answered all of my questions honestly, and made sure I got the best pricing he could muster. My new futon is arriving on Wednesday. Caesar, in the shipping department, was also very accommodating in getting me the best possible delivery time. Thanks to Robert, Caesar and the wonderful San Mateo Futon Shop!

My brother has worked at The Futon Shop on and off for over 10 years, so when I was looking for new bedroom furniture I went to him. The store can order Coaster furniture for you so that’s what we decided to do. After speaking w his boss, he was given a discounted price. He repeated the price just to make sure. My brother then said to me that he thought he’d get a call from the owner that it was too much of a discount and that they wouldn’t complete the order. I was relieved when that didn’t happen. After 2 weeks I hadn’t heard anything regarding when my furniture would arrive or when I could pick it up. I asked my brother to inquire, which he did. He said he was getting the run around and I should call, so I did. After 2 days of people telling me they’d call me back, which they never did, I received a call from the owner. She abruptly told me that they were not going to fulfill my order and that my brother had pulled a fast one and that if could pay them double what I had paid to get it. When I tried to talk to her about my situation, she HUNG UP ON ME! I was dumbfounded. I then got a call from their GM who continued to bad mouth my brother and said he’d personally refund me in 3 days. 3 days? I gave him my credit card info and he never followed through! I finally called the owner back and she said id get a refund. I called the store and the employee said last he heard I’d get store credit! I personally went down to the store and FINALLY got my money back after 3 weeks of when I placed my order! It was such a terrible ordeal. Unreal. I have never been more disrespected by an owner of a company or any retail management before in my life.

The Futon Shop is a cheerful addition to a lively strip of shops on 4^th Avenue. My friend and I were admiring the colorful window displays and met the manager who was excited to tell us that they were opening in a week. Now it’s open and it’s a perfect space for this store. My view of futons until now has been boring, ugly, uncomfortable beds for college students. But these charming and sophisticated displays have turned my head. I just might be buying a futon in the near future!
