This place is a gem. Visit this little deli/Italian joint if you like lots of delicious food in your belly. I got full from the plate of cheese ravioli and pesto. And you can get the fresh ravioli and sauce to cook at home? Here is my money, take it.

Good service, pleasant, hard working employees. Had the meat ravs w/bolognese sauce and it tasted just like I remember canned Chef Boyardee tasted. I know they were made on site but, «it be what it be.» We also had a meatball sub/hoagie/sandwich. Meatballs loaded w/filler and tasteless, sauce OK, bread std. California fare. I realize we are dyed in the wool, East Coast food snots but, this was yet another case of being sucked down the Unilocal rating path by overly generous Unilocal ratings. Oh yeah. .. $ 8 for a container of uncooked take out Ravs??? Gimme a break.

Huge sandwich! Pulled pork was tender and tasted homemade. Could have used a little more sauce but was still great.

This is a long overdue review for Ravioli House who catered for a party we held in the summer. Having sampled their ravioli and salads a few years ago and been impressed, we thought we’d use them at a house warming party. Boy, was it a great decision! Helpful from beginning to end, and extremely knowledgeable about food allergies(too much wheat flour on premises to even risk trying to offer gluten free… disappointing but delighted at the same time to find someone who gets it!), we ordered two different ravioli dishes, a spinach salad and cheesy garlic bread. It was amazing… to the point of having to try it despite being gluten free because it smelled sooooo good. I can confirm that the many compliments we received from friends were totally true and it was totally worth the inevitable reaction to the gluten! Helpful staff, delicious food and great value :)

Ravioli House is in my regular lunch rotation. The menu consists of a variety of ravioli and sauces, as well as a variety of sandwiches. They also have a lot of beverages available(sometimes I opt for a ginger beer, though I wish they carried Reed’s), and freshly baked cookies. There isn’t too much indoor seating so it’s not a good place for groups larger than 4. You could probably sit 5 – 6 at some of the tables outside of everyone squeezed a little. Portions are generous and very filling, both for the ravioli and the sandwiches. My personal favorites are: Ravioli: chicken with sage accompanied with the pesto sauce Sandwich: Pulled pork shoulder with Dutch crunch On Tuesdays they also have a jerk chicken sandwich with chicken meat that purportedly is marinated overnight with 5 lbs of habanero peppers. If you like spicy, this is the sandwich for you. Sometimes the spice level is high, and other times it’s ridiculous and may cause discomfort towards the end of the digestive process, if you know what I mean.

Can I say, MOREPLEASE! This place was hidden(well to me only because I’m not around here haha). I entered their quite small restaurant and ordered their Hot Turkey Sandwich on Dutch Crunch. When they brought it out to me, OHMYGOSH! The portion size was HUGE. I was unable to finish my sandwich, but I made sure to eat it when I got out of work! The soft, yet crunchiness of their dutch crunch bread with the cranberry sauce, stuffing, sliced turkey, and fresh veggies was definitely a hit for me! If they had one of these back home, I’d be in trouble! Definitely worth your money and time!

I’ve never been disappointed by The Ravioli House. I’ve tried all the combinations of ravioli + sauce possible and all of my friends really like their sandwiches. If you wander to the back where their bathroom is, you’ll see them making the raviolis which is pretty cool. My personal favorite is the roasted zucchini ravioli with pesto sauce. They also have some cool drink selections in their fridge, like Mt. Dew and Dr. Pepper in the glass bottles. Me and my coworkers are Ravioli House regulars. I’m glad it’s so close to our office.

Excellent service. Local joint, old school Italian type deli. Not just ravioli. We ordered a few sandwiches and the pesto ravioli. Pulled Pork Sandwich — liked Meatloaf Sandwich — eh, was dry. Get more mayo or some sauce on it. Pesto Ravioli — pretty good

Love this place! Quaint and old school. Ample parking. I wish they stayed open later. 5pm seems a little early to close on a weekday. I’ve had a few different sandwiches here and the cheese ravs with pesto. YUM! They have a nice little assortment of unusual drinks and sodas which I like alot. Chips and salads too. I especially appreciate that whatever I order they get all the details correct and I walk out with exactly what I ordered. Everything is tasty and fresh c: Great prices too!

This place is a few blocks from my office, and it’s amazing! Lots of fresh ravioli and hot sandwiches, but it’s their chicken caesar salad that’s my favorite. You can order online and pickup in store to avoid the lunch rush!

Cute little sandwich shop! I wasn’t expecting a sandwich place with the restaurant name«The Ravioli House,» but was definitely pleasantly surprised! Service was fast and friendly and although the place is quite small, there is plenty of seating inside and out. Must try: 1. Handmade — Zucchini Ravioli: very fresh and each piece is a perfect bite size 2. Specialty — Pastrami Sandwich: rich, smoky flavor and generous cheese (I had the sandwich on their dutch crunch bread — one of the best Dutch Crunch I’ve had, it wasn’t too hard/dense that it overwhelmed the inside of the sandwich and the«crunch» part didn’t cut the inside of my mouth)

This awesome little deli shop located on the outskirts of Downtown San Mateo has got to be recognized. The funny thing is, I’ve had this place bookmarked for at least half a year and I work only 10 minutes away — what took me so long? Personally, I absolutely love ravioli ever since I ate Chef Boyardee back as a kid(okay okay, maybe it wasn’t legit, but it got the job done). Anyways, when I heard about this place, I realized that I would come here eventually. Unfortunately for me, I didn’t know it was also a deli and their specialty sandwiches sound amazing. But, I’ll save that for a future day. During my first visit, I ordered the beef ravioli w/pesto sauce. I didn’t really get a # but they would just bring it to my table when ready. The plate wasn’t too pretty, but I definitely enjoyed the portion sizes and the quality of the ravioli. Not much else to say, but keep in mind that this place isn’t very big. I would say that they only have seats for around 25 people(first come first serve).

I live nearby and therefore The Ravioli House is my husband’s and my weekly lunch spot. I’ve had the Mojo, pulled pork, east coaster, egg salad, and veggie sandwiches, as well as the zucchini, cheese and sausage raviolis. And their iced tea. It’s all good. Even the veggie sandwiches. They are big sandwiches so consider splitting or saving half for dinner. Their bread and ingredients are always fresh and delicious. Even though I don’t normally like dutch crunch, The Ravioli House’s dutch crunch — and all their bread us so soft and fresh. My husband’s from the East Coast is very picky about his bread. This place meets his expectations on bread and I can tell you, so far, not many places do. And their service is always great. The people are great. It’s one of those places you want to give your business to.

Ravoli house has been on my list for a while. I phoned in my order. The person on the phone asked, «When will you get here?» I said, «Don’t worry. I’m on my way!» When I got there, the person I spoke to was finishing up my sandwich. He explained that the reason why he asked how long it would take me is that they don’t like making the sandwich too early. They want the sandwich fresh since it would get soggy. So thoughtful! Two thumbs up! The pulled pork sandwich on dutch crunch did not disappoint! Like the person said, the sandwich did get a bit soggy. But that was my fault since I waited 30 minutes before eating. The dutch crunch was still crunchy overall and the pulled pork was flavorful. Would be back to try more!

Looking for a lunch spot in San Mateo I happened upon The Ravioli House via Unilocal.Showed up on Wed at 11:50 and there was no line and lots of pressure to figure out what to order. I ended up getting their famous pulled pork on the recommended bun. I’m not sure what’s going on but it’s the second time I’ve had pulled pork recently and not been impressed. The bread was good, the dressing was good, the pork was tender — it just was flavorless. Is this normal? Is it because they put enough spices on it before roasting? Or is it because there wasn’t enough fat in the pork? Or maybe they needs to toss it in the dressing before putting it into the sandwich. I don’t know. But it was bland. Maybe I’m just not a fan of pulled pork. The brisket looked good so I might be back.

I went to Ravioli House with a friend last week. I got the zucchini ravioli with marinara sauce and chicken ravioli with pesto(to go for my wife). My friend got the spicy sausage ravioli with meat sauce. The zucchini ravioli was healthy, as expected. The chicken ravioli & the spicy sausage ravioli were really good! I will definitely return for those two! The portion sizes were pretty big. Overall grade: A

Why You Should Check Out the Ravioli House: 1) You will get a weird look when you say you want to have a sammich at a place called The Ravioli House. #SayWhaaat 2) The nearby parking meters will give you one hour of parking for 50 cents. SERIOUSLY? 3) A friendly, family, been-around-for-decades vibe. 4) A serious array of hot or cold sammiches including a Creole Turkey with spicy turkey, regular turkey, all the fixins’(minus my sandwich nemeses Mayo and Onion) in between the awesomeness that is Dutch Crunch. 5) You can lunch alfresco or indoors-fresco. 6) You can check out the ridiculously cool looking ravioli making machine. 7) You can pick up some fresh marinara sauce and cheese and sausage raviolis to try at home and compare with Lucca’s. (Are they as good? The only way to find out is to buy a bunch of each and see for yourself…)
