Zorbas Pizza

i’ve enjoyed eating at zorba’s in SSF and millbrae long ago, and even at their former location on b street in san mateo. i was so glad to see them reopen a location in san mateo. we stopped in tonight for pizza. had a pepperoni/​salami/​mushroom. it was out of this world good. large chunky pieces of sausage, plenty of salami. large chunky slices of yummy mushrooms. the crust was perfect. perfect in thickness, doneness, everything. the service was great and the prices reasonable.
i want to go back to try calamari and gyros. i’m sure it’ll be awesome.

We have gotten delivery from this restaurant on several occasions, but our experience last night was so poor we never will again. Ordered through Eat24, was given an estimated delivery time. Our food arrived more than 20 minutes later than that time and was incorrect. Contacted the restaurant and they were not the least bit helpful. Then contacted Eat24, who contacted the restaurant and told us to expect the right order delivered in 20 – 30 minutes. Our food arrived more than 90 minutes later, and we were literally already in bed at that point (food arrived around 10:15pm on a Monday, original order supposed to arrive around 7:50pm) Their food is not good enough to warrant this kind of service.

I went to Zorbas Pizza in San Mateo on El Camino Real. What a mistake. I had an extra large pizza, ½ chicken/​pepperoni and ½ eggplant/​sausage. The chicken was inedible and distasteful. Also, the chicken was dark meat, not breast meat. Further, the sausage was repugnant and grisly. I had to throw the pizza out. It was THAT bad. XL pizza was $ 33.00 w/​o tax and tip.

Love this place for many reasons. Good pizza, pastas and salads, they deliver and if you visit the SB location the kids can play video games while you have a glass of wine and wait for the pizzas to cook. Good value/​portions & customer service. Thumbs up for this place.

My expectations were pretty low for Zorbas.

Despite all this, our delivery order was surprisingly good. We oped for a lower-​carb route and ordered (and were very happy with):
+ GYRO PLATTER w/​DOLMADES
+ SOUVLAKI w/​PITA
Everything was delicious, although I was more partial to the chicken compared to the lamb. I wasn’t wild about the dolmades, but that was my only complaint. Overall, I would order from Zorbas again, I’m especially interested to try their pizza (voted ‘Best Pizza on the Peninsula’, although I’m not sure by who).

For the price, the quality of the toppings is not right. They load them on and it’s definitely a heavy duty pizza, but I wish they used fresher toppings and better cheese. The dough was the only good part, which still doesn’t make that medium meat lovers worth $ 28.
They do have free delivery, but I live around the block. I really wish the meat on it was better tasting and less greasy.

Had the pizza, gyro sandwich and ravioli so far. Everything was pretty good. Side salad came with a tasty roll. On the pricier side (paid $ 30 for a mini pizza, ravioli and side salad).

The pizza crust is like fresh baked french bread. Nice and chewy. Always good amount of toppings. Best pizza in the bay area.

This review is about my delivery pizza. Had my teenage cousins over for dinner and we decided to order pizza. There was a long debate on where we should order it. My cousin suggested Senores around the corner and I said it was just ok. So I said how about the new place zorbas. So we promptly called in and ordered 1 xl Mediterranean and one xl pepperoni and sausage. This in total was at $ 58 bucks and some change not including our tip to the delivery man. The lady on the phone was nice and courteous. The delivery man was also nice. The pizza came within 20 – 30 minutes but then again We live a block and a half away. When the pizza came it was piping hot. However, we were just so disappointed w the pizza. We Even said «man we should have just gotten Costco or lil Caesars». At that price we could have gotten round table which I have yet to be disappointed .
The Mediterranean: we ordered the thick crust. The crust was on the softer side and when we opened it looked heavy on the cheese (not a bad thing) but it was missing the bubbly golden goodness to the cheese. It seemed as if it was slightly under cooked. Meanwhile our thin crust pepperoni and sausage, the crust was burnt! You can see the color and the texture was just hard. You had a burnt after taste of it. Anyways, at 58 bucks + 7 dollar tip you would expect a satisfying pizza. I only tasted it a little bit and moved on to my other dinner options that we had at home. Needless to say when you’re charging high prices for pizza — please cook it right !
I’ll be nice and give 2 stars for the pleasant service.

Pizza was good fast service clean small dining area parking is tight since its on El Camino a lot of people picking up I didn’t see many deliveries going out. This place just recently opened.

Great Pizza!
Ordered the cheese garlic bread (with feta cheese — this was to die for), a small ala roma, and a small bianco. There was enough pizza left over for us to have another meal.
We ordered for delivery and it took approx 40 mins, and the pizzas were piping hot, we had to wait a bit for them to cool down before eating them.
Would like to go there and try some of the other dishes and the restaurant service too at some point.
The guy who took my order was excellent and i only had to give him my card details and address once, not like some places where i have to repeat it three or four times!
Will definitly be ordering from them again rather than using one of the large national chains, i think their prices are a bit higher than the other pizza places but the quality was excellent, and it was defiantly worth it.
Zorba’s pizzas are hot from the oven, made with fresh ingredients, and really delicious. Thanks Zorba’s, I’ll be seeing you soon!

A new Gem opening up in San Mateo! Finally! The Pizza at Zorbas is Amazing with their generous sizes. I haven’t had the pastas here but they look delicious. This review is solely for the pizza. The pizza left me wanting more!
