They have changed again. While the steam table is still set up as such, they no longer offer steam table dishes. It looks like maybe they do ready to order now? They have decreased the selection, but increased the price of their 3 roll special. It looks like they have attempted to redecorate, but the new paint job looks badly done, and the décor feels confused.

My 1st1 star. I have never in life taken home sushi that wasn’t eaten. But there’s a first for everything because I did there. Never been back. Service was horrible on top of that.

I went to Gyoza Express with a friend this afternoon. I did not order anything, but he ordered the broccoli chicken. While he was eating, he mentioned that the texture of the chicken was really weird. After a couple pieces, he looked at it and found that it was all uncooked and pink. This sight was really unsettling and we are not going back to Gyoza. On another note, my friend saw one of the chefs coughing into the fryer. He showed no effort of covering his cough.

Very difficult to find a place that makes a good Mongolian beef dish, till I found this place. The beef was cooked to a nice and tender point but not mushy at all, a very good amount of spice I was looking, all sautéed with onions to the point of perfect caramelization, and the rice was perfectly cooked. I was greeted and helped out, by very polite young women, and got my order quick, decently coming back!

The sushi here is pretty good and super cheap! I’ve been here many times for a quick lunch before and after classes. The workers are super nice and the service is fast.

THISISTHEBESTSUSHI I HAVEEVERHAD! Me and my coworkers come here a couple times a week on our lunch break. Their rolls are very affordable and they give you big portions. My usual is the GoGo, and the homemade spicy mango sauce is to die for, I get extra on the side. I’m like addicted to this place! The only true downfall is the communication barrier. The cashier’s English is not that good so there have been a couple times where we called in and our order was not correct due to misunderstanding. Now she knows our order by heart almost! She is super polite and friendly and makes sure we are taken care of. The food always looks presentable and taste the same every single time. Their rolls are so flavorful and compared to other places I have went to i.e. Benihanas, sushi to Dai for, and Genji just to name a few. Gyoza’s rolls are very flavorful and you get a bang for your buck. I will continue to recommend this place! Keep it up.

Ive been looking for a good sushi spot in the area, I’m from San Francisco, so I guess my standards are kind of high. I’ve tried a few places and completely hated them, so I was very pleased when I found this place. The woman who took our order was very nice and attentive, you order at the counter and then they bring it to the table. I had my usual, 49er, dragon and California roll, veg tempura and edamame. It was very fresh, I came on a weekday so I didn’t know if that would be the case, but me and my son both absolutely loved it. I’ve been back a few times and I’ll definitely be back again.

They no longer serve Chinese food, which I don’t recall from my first/last visit. Was in the neighborhood, so decided to give into my sushi craving. Small, mediocre tasting sushi with extremely snail slugging chef service. Waited half an hr for my order and there were only 2 single orders ahead of me. Won’t come back. Will stick to my usual Oakland sushi spots instead.

I got the Miami Lady roll and it was soooo good. Each roll is super affordable and good. The chef makes it for you right there. I’m definitely coming back! Weekly :)

I’d give this place a zero stars if I could. I haven’t even gone inside this place and I won’t be going anytime soon. Reason for that is Im actually picky with the rolls that I like I was on my way to happy sashimi which I recommend and gyoza was on the way there and much closer. I decided to give this place a try but call in first to ask if they had two specific rolls I wanted. I called, they picked up and I asked in a very polite way if they had what I was looking for the lady that answered very rudely said«if you want to know what we have, come and look at the menu!» With a high rude tone. I asked«so mam you’re really not going to tell me if you have them» and she then continued to tell me the same thing and hanged up!!! Honestly, I was a bit in shock afterwards. Like what kind of customer service is that I would never go to this place just by that one phone call! This business should really check their employees.

I got veggie rolls, things just taste old. Don’t get a tempura roll, it tasted like the tempura had been fried days ago, it was hard and dry. Everything is low quality.

I tasted the sushi here when it first opened and it was okay… Fast forward a month later and it was nowhere near what I had the first time Today, March 4, 2014 I ordered California rolls. The roles did not taste fresh and a few pieces had so little crab meet in there you couldn’t taste it. It had a ton of rice and you were barely able to see the small slither of avocado. If you need Sushi on the go without wasting a bunch of time hit up the Raley’s on san Pablo dam road for tasty stuffed raw and cooked sushi… If you’re heading toward el Cerrito get it from the Safeway by the bart. It’s a horrible shame that you can get better sushi at a grocery store.

Fanny the owner of the Villa in San Pablo which sadly closed 5 months ago, works here and she is equally as friendly and fast to provide essentials such as water and chopsticks. This place has changed from the last time I was here. The process is as follows: –order & pay your food at the register. –seat yourself. –cashier will bring you water & utensils. –food is brought out if you order sushi. –ready to go food is given to you on the spot. What I ate, go go sushi roll, it was was ok. Lion king baked roll was my favorite $ 8.88. Overall decent for the area, the rice was soft and you are given a good portion. Uno 21 quince

I ordered the chicken teriyaki bowl and a deep fried Philadelphia roll. My chicken tasted frozen microwaved. It wasn’t even warm. The rice made it seem everything was made fairly fresh. However I’m sure it’s been sitting all day under the heat lamps, which obviously didn’t help much due to my ambient temp chicken. The Philly roll was whatever, I wasn’t expecting much coming from a Japanese restaurant that also serves other Asian food. The rice under the deep fried portion had a wet texture, and the salmon and cream cheese serving was minimal to non-existent. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

I think I wrote a review for this place a long time ago but I’m not sure, if I did it was years ago when it first opened. There has been changes made since the last time I was here. We sat down, looked at the menu and then ordered at the counter. The prices are still very reasonable. My lion king was less than $ 10. All the food that we ordered was very tasty! They had really friendly staff! Before I ordered, I went to check out what they had on the steam trays I decided not to go that route. I had two sushi rolls. My husband had salt and pepper fish filet and my daughter had a chicken teriyaki bowl. I didn’t like it back when they first opened, but I will definitely come back again.

Located near Contra Costa College, I have been here a couple of times before my class. I have never gotten their sushi and/or rolls. I’ve only gotten their katsu don(which is essentially fried pork chops with egg and rice). It’s a pretty standard rice bowl dish. The first time I got it was great… but then I got it a 2nd and 3rd time and they weren’t as great. C’mon! I’m all about consistency in taste at restaurants. This place could definitely work on that. In other news, their service was pretty good. very friendly and nice.

Gyoza Express has a pricey menu for it’s sushi and bento boxes. not seeing anyone eating in(besides the staff) post lunch, i just ordered a snack to go. flatscreen: chinese newsprogram eats: chicken karaage(5.5) –9 pieces of dry, overbreaded chicken pieces. –tonkatsu dipping sauce not much help. –mcnuggets may be tastier 2.5 stars crumbs: –service polite, grateful, no one else here –not sure what is a good value on the pricey menu.

What’s up with the 2 stars lately? MEH… I blame my brother who raved to me oh there’s a new sushi spot in San Pablo, you should check it out. I want to say 2.5 stars due to the fact our waitress/hostess was very pleasant and she always asked me if I needed anything else. As for their food? YEAH cheap eats + 50% off selected items, but the sushi was not exactly fresh. Even then you can see them making the sushi, the rice was semi-hard. Fail! As for their donburi, Beef teriyaki-Ummm the beef was sorta of hard too but you can expect that with sirloin. I took it home and replaced my beef with rib eye LOL Will I be back? Meh.
