Best Buy Geek Squad

Poor installation abilities
I brought in an ultra book style laptop to install an extra hard drive and in the process of installation, Geek Squad damaged my speakers. Now it is being sent to Kentucky to be repaired and is going to take up to 3 weeks to fix the damage caused by my local Geek Squad service
Update– After being shipped to Kentucky, my laptop was immediately shipped back due to the service center not knowing how to work on it. Now it is being shipped to the manufacturer. It has been over 3 weeks total now.

When we bought our Samsung TV, and our Harmony remote, and the long term 5 year warranty on everything, and the programming service and the set up and installation… We thought we had it covered. That was in 2014. Right away we had problems with the remote and had to have it replaced. Fine– we had to take it into the store to do it. A slight inconvenience. Then they came out to reprogram it. It has never worked adequately since. We have spent DAYS on the phone numerous times trying to get help from BEST BUY! Long times on «hold» while they look up the account and then disconnect you or send you to the wrong person! Finally you get a tec and there –Temporarily there is a fix to the system but then it goes back to it’s original problem. Do you think I could get someone out here to help me??? Yes, for another $ 150 or more. All those warranties won’t help me. What a racket! And their products? Seconds. Don’t buy anything from Best Buy it’s defective and they will get you with the repairs even with a warrant.

Very disappointed with the insurance they sell and when that happens some real problem, they can not solve, and treatment with clients is horrible. Money thrown out the window.

The genius bar at the Apple Store said I needed a new hard drive on my MacBook, but since it was too old for them to work on they suggested I take it to the Best Buy Geek Squad in San Rafael.
The Geek Squad tried to convince me that I actually had a viral software problem and to buy a two-​year $ 280 service contract to correct it. I smelled a rat, and took my computer to Mobile Tec Computer Repair at 36 Tamalpais Dr. in Corte Madera (415−924−9228), who replaced the hard drive (actually updated it to a larger & faster solid-​state unit) quickly and for a reasonable price. The hard drive WAS the problem — and so are the CON ARTISTS at the Best Buy Geek Squad in San Rafael!
