We highly recommend Danielle Rosa Piano Studio in San Rafael. Love her creative ways of teaching and keeping kids engaged! She is patient and kind, and has a knack for motivating them. In just 3 and a half short months our 7y old beginner is able to read music, memorize songs(over 20 pieces), play confidently with both hands and is self motivated to practice several times a day. Danielle is a fantastic teacher and a lovely human being!

She goes out of her way to ensure that you have a good experience. It is so rare to find teachers like Danielle! I highly recommend her, you won’t be disappointed!

My children love music, but I have two very different personalities which I find challenging to accommodate. Danielle is able to work so well with both my kids, she seems to possess serious magical powers. When my daughter has been overtired from a long school day and reluctant to come to lessons, Danielle has changed up the lessons to include games and got my kiddo enthusiastic and having fun once again. My boy is only in kindergarten and Danielle works with him age-appropriately so well he actually begs to practice the piano each day. «After I clean up my Legos, THEN may I practice piano?» No joke! Danielle’s group classes for the younger set are also very fun. It’s so great to see so many kids excited about piano and I know it has everything to do with having a great teacher.(I was forced to sit at the piano for hours and still never learned to read music. The hairy mole on my piano teacher’s chin was distracting, but she was also just no fun!) Danielle is only captivating and superb. We started out with a free trial class. If you’re considering learning piano or advancing your skills for you or your child(ren), I can bet you’ll be as thrilled as I am with this teacher. You should check out her free class!

Danielle is a passionate and talented piano teacher for children and adults! She goes the extra mile to approach music learning from all angles — group classes, harmonic understanding, playing my ear and note-reading. Many years ago, I shadowed Danielle’s Harmony Road classes in California. She was an excellent mentor and inspired my teaching! She is both playful, focused and wonderful with children. As far as children’s piano teachers go, Danielle is the best of the best. She has done the research — studied a variety of teaching methods, and used them all to create her own refined approach. As a teacher myself, I know how much goes into children’s musical learning. Danielle has a way of inspiring children’s sense of musicality — so that they want to practice and continue playing. She is an inspiration to me and a master teacher!!!

At five my daughter learned how to play the piano with Danielle and loved it until sadly Danielle left for Oregon :) Danielle is a wonderful teacher; passionate about music and teaching, patient, encouraging, and able to adapt to different ages needs. She used a great method while being very flexible to make sure that Lola liked the pieces she was playing. For my daughter playing was and still is a lot of joy, and we can be thankful to Danielle for this! we miss her!

My son took lessons from Danielle, starting in a group setting and then privately. He studied with her for several years. Aside from being a skilled and highly knowledgeable teacher, she is warm, supportive, flexible, and thoughtful in her lessons. My son was very young when he studied with her(he started when he was 6 and continued until he was 9). She supported his interest and ability in composing music, which I especially appreciated. She is absolutely wonderful, and we miss her now that she moved to Oregon!

I am much too old to be taking piano lessons but Danielle never let me know that. She is very patient, encouraging and inspiring. She often changes or introduces new exercises to keep the technique-learning interesting. I felt challenged by her and happy that I progressed. Plus, she’s interesting and fun to be with!

I was an adult student of Danielle’s a few years ago when she was teaching in a music school. First things first: she took some time to find a different piano song book for me. We both appreciated playing songs that were not called Old MacDonald, Humpty Dumpty, and Row Row Row Your Boat. At the music school, they gave her a lot of autonomy and a space to operate as she saw fit. Although we had a lesson plan, set list and homework, Danielle has a yoga-like sensibility as well. This is piano class, not Kumon! I was encouraged to play and keep playing at a pace we were comfortable with. She didn’t push me like a conductor. She didn’t gasp when I made a mistake. Whenever I stumbled and got lost in analysis paralysis, she would quickly bring me back to earth and keep me playing. It was the best thing she did for me. She enabled me to trust myself and let me play. On occasion, we would play together at the same time. I could still hear myself but it sounded even more beautiful(of course because of her). It was the first time in my life that I thought I was capable of making music. She lifted me up by supplementing me, not by playing for me. I felt an amazingly wonderful human connection and for a fleeting moment, the joy that musicians in bands and orchestras must feel. At the end, I performed in a recital with her accompanying me. This was a huge step and I remember how happy I was that day. There was an outpouring of support and community that made me forget how embarrassed I was at my ability. Danielle values and respects your time very much. She was never late despite a 20 something mile drive from San Francisco in horrendous, demoralizing traffic. I was always playing and engaged from the very start to the last second. She knew exactly when I should advance to the next lesson and when to practice more. There was never excessive repetition for the sake of practice. Today I still practice and play, though much less than I ever did since becoming a new father. I have Danielle to thank for getting me started properly.

My son had lessons with Danielle and she re-engaged his interest in playing piano when he was struggling in group lessons. She made an effort to find music that he liked even though he was young(8 yr) and not at a very advanced level. She has high expectations, but she also realizes that a child can’t and won’t learn music unless they enjoy it. With her help, he discovered the fun in music and he continues to play and love it.

My son took lessons with Ms. Danielle for 3 years, the last year as private tutoring. He was eagerly waiting at the window for Ms. Danielle to come. She is extremely patient, stern, found a way to adapt to my son’s way(was not easy) and she won him. We miss her very much and wish she was still around… Thank you for those wonderful years!
