I’ve been to Peking Wok ever since it first opened. Under the original ownership, the restaurant was a warm and friendly place to patronize. The husband and wife couple were both very accommodating to customer requests and did so with good cheer. The present owners took over the business a few years ago and tried to be friendly and accommodating when they were new owners. Now, things have changed quite markedly. Not only are they less accommodating to requests, if they do so(and it is a BIG«IF») they make it clear that they are doing so unwillingly, which makes the customer feel uncomfortable. But more than that, both the quality and quantity of the food have gone down; so is the level of hygiene in food preparation. Don’t be surprised to find hair in your food or sand in your vegetables, and don’t be surprised if, when you tell the owners that you found those things in your food, you will not get an apology or be offered a new plate of the same food. On the contrary, expect to get the bill as if nothing has happened. One may see smiles on the faces of the owners, but those smiles cover an attitude that is not pleasant. They don’t understand, really don’t understand, the meaning and importance of having goodwill with customers. But more concerning is the quality of the food, specifically the hygiene, and of course quantity as well. One of the earlier Unilocal reviewers have posted a few pictures of how the vegetables are stored. Those pictures are worth the proverbial thousand words.

Nope, never again. I haven’t been here since the old owners left. I thought I’d give it a shot and check them out, see what’s new since I always came here for Chinese food for years since they opened in the 90’s. Horrible service, rude waiters! The food: bug in chicken corn soup. Terrible! I miss the old owners of this place. These guys turned this place into a disaster. Too bad.

Probably the worst Chinese restaurant I’ve ever been in. I got a stale green onion pancake that tasted like they might’ve used Elmers glue to hold it together with almost no onion flavor. In the wonton soup the wontons were so old that they were like in a brick in the bottom of the bowl and I had to be pried apart. They disintegrated into pieces when you pull them apart. The broth which they pour over a wad of this war– wonton material at the end, out of a coffee pot had almost no flavor. To add insult to injury their prices are about 30% higher then a comparable very low-end Chinese restaurant which oak likely much better. Go somewhere else if you want to enjoy yourself.

Pork and Chicken potstickers are among the best I have had anywhere, humongous in size and a very large order. The crab wantons are plentiful and delicious. I have only tried the chicken with mushroom and wanted it with jalapeño but got it with snow peas. Not the end of the world but the waitress doesn’t speak English and wasn’t getting that I wanted spicy, but they have chili paste on the table so I could heat it up enough. It’s a whole in the wall, if you like that kind of feel you should be very happy with your dining experience. This is going to be my new take out spot!

I got takeout last Fri, 2⁄26 and it was AWESOME. They make the best and most giant pot stickers ever! The orange chicken was perfectly spiced with tender meat. Well priced. Ready quickly! And everyone there seems really nice. Keep up the good work!

This place was recommended to me by a friend and I decided to check it out. We came in on a Monday evening around 6:45. We walked in and was seated immediately. We ordered the pan fried chicken, the spicy eggplant plate and a large order of steamed rice. We came primarily for the chicken because our friends told us it was comparable to the chicken of a popular place in San Francisco, San Tung. I would say Peking’s pan friend chicken gives a more ginger flavor than that of San Tung’s. I would also say that Peking’s chicken is less crunchy. Nonetheless they have their own flavor and it’s some bomb fried chicken! No wait, no parking hassles and no crossing the bridge. We asked if we would add beef to the spicy egg plant dish and the waiter asked if I wanted to add a $ 2 or $ 3 meat portion and I picked the $ 2 portion. I do regret getting the smaller portion because it was not enough meat for the amount of eggplant in the dish. I would definitely come back. They have fast service and answer any questions we had.

Agreed, this is a good go to Chinese Restaurant. Middle of the road is where I am with this place. Food, was good and hot. Service is super fast and the place is a clean hole in the wall. Usually no wait, the staff including the cooks a very fast. Basic room and furnishing and very clean. I suggest you give them a try, it’s good food.

Great food with zesty flavors. Wanted some good chinese food, it’s not an easy decision. Ordered the Princess Chicken and was not disappointed! The chicken had just enough heat and was cooked perfectly. The portion of chicken was very generous and had lots of leftovers. Also love their ice tea, it more purer than others. The only reason why I would give this restaurant 5 stars was because of the quality food and best service. The food was all brought out at different times and not all together. Highly recommended!

They offer food with fare prices and massive quantity. I was not able to finish my meal. It’s a authentic Chinese restaurant. It’s worth a try!

I had my dinner there lat week. I am happy that they offer a variety of lunch combos with a reasonable price. Their hot and sour soup is one of my favorite. Their service is the best, but waiters always get their job done in time. I will recommend this one to my friend.

So much wrong with this place it’s hard to even give them a star. First terrible food and I eat bad food all the time but this is a new bar set for such bad food. Cheap both in price service and quality and that would explain why so many people eat this shitty, shitty food that’s drowning in sauce so much that they could serve you anything. Old egg rolls that are limp not crunchy. Shrimp that smells old and tastes like nothing and general hygiene of the staff is less then admirable. Out of order bathroom that smells like sewage and after eating here you definitely need a bathroom no wonder it was out of order. The employees are not accommodating at all only saying no or that doesn’t come with that or you can’t have that. After trying to eat what was given to me and failing for sheer respect for body and taste buds I went to have a cigarette to get the taste out of my mouth when I walked behind the restaurant I noticed something both not appetizing and a little unnerveing. Pictures worth a thousand words and now I’m just curious how the health department gives a passing grade to this kind of food prep. Don’t eat here go to pings or panda express at least they care if they feed you bad food unlike these rude, gross bad food serving hacks.

This is my go-to restaurant for Chinese food. They give you a large helping of everything you order and it it inexpensive and delicious. I have both sat down to eat and gotten take out(many times) and both are wonderful experiences. The lemon chicken served here is absolutely delicious, and the chicken fried rice is on my order every time. I love Peking Wok and suggest it to all of my friends when they are looking for a good place to get Chinese food. Definitely go here!

I’ve been a client for at least 20 years. Peking Wok offered good simple food and used to be a good place to eat at a good price. Currently, the quality & quantity of food has decreased substantially. The staff is no longer warm and friendly :( Place has gone way down hill. I heard they are under new ownership… oh well!

DISAPPOINTING. Now under new Ownership/Management and the only thing that’s the same is the name. I’ve had take-out once and had dine-in twice in the past month or so and never again. All three times I felt like I was eating fatty. grizzly mystery meat, not beef. It’s not just no lemon in the water, no tea bag in the pot or napkins thinner than toilet paper, or watered down sweet and sour sauce(Seriously– I think they diluted it with water it was that weak and thin)– The quality and quantity of food has decreased substantially, and the staff are no longer warm and friendly. Bummer.

This used to be a good place to eat at a good price. New owners and it has gone way down hill. Service and quality sucks now.

I live in the neighborhood and have eaten here 3 times. It’s mediocre at best. The lunch specials are a bargain, but u get a soggy spring roll, a ton of rice or swollen chow mien and cheap vegetables w a bland cornstarch sauce and cheap cuts of meat like dark chicken or fatty pork. The regular menu isn’t much better. Stick w the soups as they are a much safer bet.

Cant believe this place is still in business. Chose this place as lessor evils for san rafael but should have heeded the warning signs. Overpriced dishes clean décor and small servings. All indicators of a terrible chinese restaurant. Only things omitted was terrible terrible food. Im not a food prude and actually enjoy dives. However this place priced higher than a dive and about half the quality. Better off finding a panda express nearby or going for mexican. Youv e been warned.

I ordered take out(Sweet & Sour Prawns) today. This was possibly the most vile Chinese dish I have ever encountered. It tasted like the prawns were wrapped in tasteless sponges & then doused with sauce. I will NEVER go there again!
