Very friendly service. Ordered a macchiato and it was pretty good! They have a great seating area and a simple menu, which I prefer.

Not the best cup of joe! My Mocha came out super thick and extremely warm. Small selection of bakery items. It’s too bad that only one coffee flavor(vanilla) is offered, more choices would of been helpful! The lady at the counter was superbly friendly. I like the fact that it is inside a bookstore.

Lovely, lovely spot. Good, local espresso made by well-trained, kind baristas. They have a great bean selection too for those looking for bagged or canned coffee!

Not the worst and not the best, although the macchiato was tasty and gave me the boost I needed, the barista didn’t seem to know how to make it pretty.

Here’s all you need to know: I spilled my coffee everywhere and not only did they rush to clean it up, but then they offered me a free drink card for my trouble. Spectacular service, awesome coffee. Try it.

Really slow service. Passive-aggressively slow. First time, I got a weak and watery Americano. Second time, they served me a poorly made cappuccino, which was too milky and also weak. Seems an issue with their ristretto. Other Taylor Maid Farms are solid. This one has crappy baristas. I will pass next time.

Great coffee, consistently made well, now serving Nitro on tap. Good wi-fi connection. Plenty of seating. Air-conditioning. Growing pastry/snack offerings. Wished they were open longer hours.

Love the coffee and tea here – the lavender lattes are no joke! In response to the comment about slow internet, I’ve never had an issue here and I’ve worked on a few different devices. Speaking of which, this is a nice spot to get work done(provided you have headphones). Sitting at the bar with the big wall of windows facing the street, you can take little people-watching breaks here and there. While I have gotten good, friendly service here… as others have mentioned it’s not always consistent.

I really like their beans, I buy the Goat Rock and have it ground on site. It is so smooth without any oil/bitter. Just the way I like it. Plus, if I bring the can back, I get a discount.

Try the house coffee with lavender in it. Sounds odd, but it was tasty. Inside Copperfield’s book store with high-table window seating so you can watch passer-byers and cars along 4th avenue. Friendly baristas. Hot, fresh, delicious coffee.

Coffee spot right inside bookstore. They have plenty of seats and a free Wi-fi if you need some work to get done. We ordered large lavender latte which came out pretty good and had just a right amount of sweetness.

Beautiful café nestled in the front of Copperfield’s book store. PROS: organic coffee, plenty of books to read nearby if bored, LOTSOFOUTLETS, high quality milk/half and half, organic stevia sweetener packets, nice background music that is not too loud, friendly baristas, Guayaki Yerba Maté, FREESUPERFASTWIFI CONS: the chairs could have cushions, they don’t sell kombucha All in all, this is my go-to place for morning coffee/studying. *Way* higher quality than Starbucks/Peet’s ‘s offerings and superior ambiance/vibe.

Marin isn’t really the hotspot for good coffee but if you’re in a pinch this place passes the test. I ordered a cappuccino. Came complete with latte art and no bitterness. I haven’t tried the pour over or purchased any of their beans. As far as Marin goes I think this is the best I’ve found.

Serves a great single origin Americano: *nice ambiance with the bookstore as a backdrop *clean bathroom facilities, need a key for access, it’s the plastic spoon at the register *easy SQUARE payment *ALMOND milk available *good service Odd: 16oz and 12oz priced the same, $ 3, or over/under charged? Organic quality coffee, brewed to perfection, why would anyone go to the chains?

Still five stars because it’s arguably the best coffee in the county, but… NOMORELAVENDERSYRUP?! You’re telling me IT’S SEASONAL?! WHAAAAT?! nooooo. I LIVE for the lavender syrup! And if you say it’s seasonal then I’m going to spend the next six months trying to make it at home. And then I’ll get fat cuz I’ll just sit at home drinking pure lavender syrup. ISTHATWHATYOUGUYSWANT?! On a side note, the(also) seasonal pumpkin spice syrup is actually really good. I did not expect this because Peet’s and Starbucks have trained me to think of pumpkin spice coffee as terrible, but again, Taylor Maid pulled off a miracle. This doesn’t excuse the removal of the lavender syrup though!

Taylor Maid coffee is inside a bookstore so it took awhile to find.(looked up the numbers. name not readily seen. standing sign not noticeable. BREW;(L 2.75) –smooth, not so bold brew. –coffee premade, 3.5 stars drips: –pastries also available –some tables for sitdown, wifi too, i assume. –service quick, several baristas on duty. –next to double rainbow.

I was SOEXCITED when this place moved in a few months ago. They were the only place around that made a good cappuccino. Sadly, today that all changed. They have serious SERVICEPROBLEMS. I ordered a cappuccino but asked for it in a bigger cup so I could put a lid on it(they normally serve them in a cute 6 oz. cup). My order came up as a latte. I told the guy I’d ordered it a cappuccino but just wanted it in the 8 oz. cup, and he said, literally, «Well now you just got a little extra!» It’s not as if I want a latte and just can’t afford it(that extra 25 cents is just too much!)… If I order a cappuccino, I want a cappuccino, not a latte. I want to taste the espresso, not the milk. He then started to reprimand the guy who had taken the order(even though I saw the guy write ‘C’ for cappuccino on the little order card) rather than offer to make me a new one. He ALSO messed up my friend’s order that was next in line. The guy was clearly the manager, and I’ve seen him there before… This stuff just shouldn’t happen. There were no other orders behind ours, and it was clear we weren’t happy about it. It could have been an easy fix. If he’d offered to make them over again(instead of just being curt with the other dude), he could have kept two customers. Boo :(

Since opening this is the only coffee shop I’ll hit on 4th Street. Chalk that up to knowledgeable baristas who serve coffee any way you like it and are happy to explain how it’s being made. Free wi-fi, large tables, and good company make this the perfect meeting spot for an morning business meeting or Saturday afternoon stop over. So glad to have a great coffee spot in San Rafael on 4th Street.

If I lived in downtown San Rafael, this would be my permanent hangout. I love independent coffee houses, and the funkier the better. This one however is the opposite of funky. It’s modern, open space and they use an iPad for their cash register. Are we sure this isn’t Cupertino? But modern is good too, and I could get used to this place. It’s located inside Copperfield’s bookstore. Which for those readers who love to lounge a bit and ingest though a healthy dose of Jack Kerouac before lunch it would mighty convenient to do it here. Speaking of lunch, the food selection is a little spartan and only stocks pastry types of things. Me, I am more of a savory kind of guy and a nice ham and gruyère sandwich on a French roll would be nice. But still I am in the minority and most of you coffee fanatics prefer sugar so you will find plenty to choose from.
