Cubby took us out on a windy, rainy December day. The only reason I felt comfortable conquering the waves on a day like that was due to Cubby’s obvious intimate knowledge of the area. We had a blast! We’ve been talking about our tour and how cool Cubby was for days after. I hope to return in the summer:).

The owner Cubby was very rude to my sweet girlfriend, an animal lover. He just came over to us, and starts trouble for no reason. He seems like he has had too much marijuana for his own good. I would not recommend this rude Db to rent a boat even for my bathtub. Seems like a typical California flake.

Cubby was the best guide you could ask for. Knowledgable, fun, and so jazzed to share everything about the nature of the cove.
It was quite a deal to have *everything* included. «Everything» means even a waterproof camera that he lends you, downloads the photos from, and emails you after. Just show up!

Cubby rules. I think it’s safe to say he spends a good 50% of his life in the open sea on a kayak. You are in seriously good hands! Even gave us cameras to snap photos ourselves, then got them emailed to us. Beautiful location.

We had an awesome time renting stand up paddle boards from Cubby! He told us all about the area and where to go. We paddle back home but this was a totally different experience and it was awesome!!! I highly recommend this company to rent from. Cubby is good people and he keeps the pricing affordable so you can have fun for hours on end!

Had a great time kayaking with Cubby! Felt very safe. Learned a lot about the area and its inhabitants. Also learned that I can paddle like a champion. Saw several seals and otters. One adorable lil harbor seal even tailed us for half the trip. The highlight for me was pulling up onto a secluded beach only accessible via kayak or paddle boarding. Our own little private lagoon! If you’re in the area and you wanna explore the water, definitely hit Cubby up for a tour. You won’t regret it.

Best kayak experience ever. Cubby never makes you feel rushed or pressed for time. He is so easy going yet so knowledgable about this area. We had so much fun. This is not your typical kayak «tour». It doesn’t seem stage or scripted at all. It’s really let’s go check it out and see what we find. We got to see starfish, sea otter, seals, go in to a little cave, and get splashed by a mini blow hole. This was an awesome experience!!! THANK YOU CUBBY AND BOBBY!!!

Awesome experience! We took the San Simeon Cove Tour. Everything was included: wetsuits, booties, jackets, kayak, etc. They even let us borrow their waterproof camera! The tour guide did a great job of making sure that everyone felt comfortable and safe.
We got to see humpback whales REALLY close (within a safe distance of course) and one actually swam under us! It was such a special experience. We also saw some seals, brown pelicans, and sea stars. The tour guide was very knowledgeable about the wildlife and pointed out many things I would have missed on my own.

The tour guide was super sweet and attentive. We got to see hump back whales and sea lions. Great kayaking. They provided water proof digits cameras that they email to you afterwards. Very nice. Define lay highlight of our trip.

Cubby was such an amazing tour guide and both he and Alex did a great job at letting the group choose our own adventure. We based our tour around the conditions for the day, and were able to catch some sea otters wrapped in the kelp forrest, as well as harbor seals on the beach. Cubby was obviously very passionate about the wildlife in the bay and told us all about the birds, animals, and vegetation we saw on the tour. I learned so much! Luckily for us the tides worked in our favor and allowed us to explore some of the sea caves along the coast. I would definitely recommend you ask Cubby the best time of day to plan your trip based on the tides. Most of all, don’t let fog scare you away! The day started off foggy and a bit cold for us, but Cubby assured us that meant low winds and an easier paddle out to sea to be able to see up the coast. He was right!

We really loved our kayaking tour with Cubby! I was worried about being too cold, but the wet suit/​jacket & booties all do the trick. We saw 4 grey whales with calves, a funny sea otter lounging on his back, a harbor seal that was following us and many different types of birds. As many times as Cubby has done this tour, he seemed to enjoy it as much as the rest of us. The tour was only my husband & I and a couple young women. We both got double kayaks. This tour is almost 3 hrs, inexpensive & really fun! Highly recommend!

First time Kayak trip. This guy is awesome «Cubby» he does a great job of making you feel safe at all times. he knows a lot about the history around the area and the sea life. We are two ladies over 55 and we felt so safe in his care. Incredible time. Do it and you will love your trip! Good Price for the tour, he has all the gear you could need and lets you use «his» camera, what a great guy. I can’t wait to go back this summer and do it again!

There was absolutely nothing bad about my whole experience. Cubby was very knowledgable about everyything that lives, breathes, and moves in the water and surrounding areas.
The scenery was spectacular, dont worry Cubby has high resolution cameras that are waterproof so dont waste your money on a disposable camera from walmart.
Me and my wife got to see the cave. Although we got into it terribly, we made it in safe and sound So many things living in there that you have no idea unless you paid attention.
I cant wait to revisit this spot. Oh did I mention its very affordable, atleast for the fact that you get all the equipment you need and an amazing kayaking experience. I loved it!
I can see why this place has a full 5 star review.

We had a great time kayaking on our girls reunion weekend. Cubby is very knowledgeable, patient and safe. The area is so beautiful and we saw sea otters, elephant seals, a starfish, cormorants, pelicans and other birds as well as learned a lot about the area.
We would definitely recommend a tour with Cubby!

Our trip on the water w/​Cubby & Brian was the highlight of our time in Cambria. My 7-​year old daughter & I shared a double kayak. I was admittedly a bit worried taking her out in the ocean like that, but Cubby did a great job of calming our nerves, setting us up with wet suits, booties and a waterproof camera. It was wonderful!

Cubby (the owner/​guide) is a great guide and very helpful and friendly. We had the tour one day, and came back the next to rent kayaks on our own. He is very knowledgeable, patient, and laid-​back in his guiding style, perfect for the adults and teenagers on our tour. His prices are very reasonable ($ 50/​person for a tour that, in our case, lasted 3 hours, including boat, paddle, wetsuit, booties, and jacket). Single kayaks are $ 10/​hour, also very reasonable.
The cove is a really neat place to kayak. It’s sheltered enough that you won’t be paddling for your life, but has plenty of picturesque sea life. We saw harbor seals, otters, dolphins, sea stars, pelicans, cormorants, and many other creatures.
Highly recommended!

My mom and I took the kayaking tour on Memorial Day weekend. Neither of us had been in a kayak in years, and neither of us had ever kayaked in the ocean before. Cubby made it really easy and fun. The tour lasts about 3 hours, but because he let us go at our own pace, we didn’t get too tired until the end.
He’s a great guide, you can tell that he loves the area and the animals. It was more than just kayaking… it was a learning experience about the area, the animals, and kayaking all in one. He let us go into the sea caves a little bit so we could experience that and it was cool!
I would recommend this to anyone who is in the area, it’s absolutely beautiful & so much fun! I couldn’t have asked for a better way to spend my last morning in San Simeon.

Great service and fun via this kayaking experience. Cubby is very knowledgeable about weather, wind patterns, kayaking tips, and more. We went through a good part of the cove, seeing some hidden beaches and going through or into caves. We did get out into the open ocean for a bit. Saw a grey whale from the shore, male and female otters, etc. He provided atop kayaks of varied sizes, 2 kinds of paddles, wet suits and booties, jackets. I was never cold and was amazed he had a wet suit for a xxl guy. Really fun person to be around who knows his stuff. Price was right. I’ll do it again in a different season to see the seasonal change. Never felt nauseous at all. Did this in early May 2014. He loaned us waterproof cameras and we took pics of the trip, each other and they were viewable online within 2 days.
