Solid little deli … Attached to wine bar and post office all in one. Probably the best tri-tip sandwich I’ve had. Very good. One star deducted for overall cleanliness, but food well above average.

Absolutely amazing! Their Green Chili Pepper Jack cheese burger is out of this world. Make sure you do a little wine tasting then grab some lunch. The perfect little spot!

Stopped by here on our way home. It is as the reviews say, a deli type place with indoor and outdoor seating. There is a bar, but I think it only sells wine. I’m not positive though. I think the menu changes because it’s written on a chalk board. In other posts I had read about other items, but they weren’t on the menu. But one thing for sure is they always have their burgers, that they are known for. I had the green chili and pepper jack cheese burger and I thought it was delicious. Although, they are too big. I’m bringing half home for later. My husband had the bacon avacado cheese burger. It too was big! Actually, we could have shared one burger. We did order only one fries and it was plenty. Burger run from 12 – 15 dollars, so be prepared for that. They are delicious though. If back in San Simeon, we’ll definitely stop by again. Thanks for the good eats!

An excellent place to stop for food after a morning wandering Hearst Castle. The burger is delicious. I ate the whole thing! Beef was fresh, bun, light, but held together, and toppings a great compliment. Really cute location with views to the ocean and also the field near the old schoolhouse. It’s a great wander around the wine shop while waiting for your food. Service was fast and friendly and it’s very reasonably priced.

We just happened to come across this place a couple years ago as we were visiting Hearst Castle with our sons over Spring Break. There aren’t really any food places in the area and we just happened to come across this place and so glad we did… our oldest son is named Sebastian. Since then we have been to San Francisco a couple times and make it a point to stop and eat here. Location– it is a small place that offers outdoor seating and a small dirt/gravel parking lot Food– everything we have had(burgers/sandwiches/fries) have all been top-notch and reasonably priced *I understand ownership has changed… the last time I was here was last July and it was just as good as my first time 2 yrs. ago

This little joint serves very good sandwiches and bar food. We had a burger and a turkey bacon sandwich with avocado — both were moist, tasty and came in large portions. We didn’t try the fish and chips but saw someone having it: it looked yummy and large enough for 2 people. We sat outside in the sun on the wooden bench and enjoyed a casual lazy lunch at Sebastian’s store — perfect after spending the morning at the Hearst Castle. Nothing fancy but it hit the spot.

My friends and I were visiting Hearst Castle, and just like a lot of other people, we Unilocaled and found this tiny store. You know that everyone’s super hungry if no one’s talking and just eating instead. Seriously, the burger here is so freaking bomb. I enjoyed the fries as well. One friend and I split the pulled pork sandwich + the bacon/avocado/cheddar burger, and the rest of our friends ordered the burger as well. That patty was juicy, and the burger that my friend and I split was more of a medium than medium-rare. The bacon was delicious. The fries were crispy and hot. Needless to say, it’s a pretty awesome place and if you’re ever on HWY1, stop by here for a meal! Luckily there wasn’t a long line when we went(5÷30÷16). The only downfall is that that there is only one bathroom stall– so you better go when there isn’t a line!

Yes I knew the Sebastian’s Store of famous sandwiches had moved to the Café in Cambria but went to see what was up here now. Well not only did we come once but came three times in a span of a few weeks. First time had the Swordfish sandwich. I’m not a big Swordfish fan but that’s what my wife wanted so I went with it. Awesome. Probably the best Swordfish sammy I’ve ever had. Other times we had the Swordfish sandwich but switched the fish to Rockfish(not on the menu) and I have to say I liked this even more. Also had the Ortega Burger and fries and loved every bite(the buns rock). Great fries and amazing Cole Slaw too!

Driving down highway 1 there were not a lot of options for food for long stretches of time. My husband and I stopped here not really reading reviews because we were so hungry. It is a really cute place and the food is delicious! My husband got the fish and chips and they were so good! It came in a huge platter which was a nice surprise! I got a burger with avacado and bacon and it was great too! The guy that was working was really nice! We sat outside while eating and got to look at the nice scenery. So happy we randomly found this place!

Seriously, the burgers and fries are to die for! We usually eat pretty healthy but decided to split a burger based on all the reviews on Unilocal.Didn’t see the French dip on the menu but the burger was amazing. Juicy and cooked just right. They don’t bother asking you how you want it cooked because they just KNOW. Trust them! Yup. Fries were AMAZING. Don’t miss it! The tasting room on the other side was a bit odd. We wanted a cold beer to go with our burger and it was a grab-it-yourself-including-the-pint-glass from the cold case situation. But… we couldn’t open and pour it ourselves. This was according to a guy sitting nearby who observed our awkward and confused looks. So we had to wait for one of the pourers to come by to help us… and then tip them for the pouring part. But get your own glass and bottle of beer. Okaaaaay. Complicated rules for getting beer! This place is off Cabrillo Hwy/CA-1, right across from the Hearst Castle entrance, towards the coast side. If you’re visiting the Hearst Castle, SKIP the concession food and head down here. You’ll be so glad you did!

What a nice fun stop. We asked at the Hearst Castle for a good place to eat and we were directed there. This is a deli/burger/hot dog joint. The guys running the place were engaging and funny. We ordered a burger and a hot dog. The burger is meat from the Hearst Ranch. My husband(a self proclaimed burger connoisseur) described his burger as yummy but messy. We both enjoyed our meals and shared. Pretty messy but worth it. Sebasitans’s is located on a cute piece of history across the street from the Hearst Castle. The Hearst Ranch Winery tasting is located in the same building. There was also a very pretty beach that was worth exploring. After dinner we took a nice relaxing walk.

If you come on a road trip and don’t stop here for a burger and chili then you should just turn around and go home. The burger is one of the best I have ever had. Bacon avocado cheeseburger with a side order of chili

After touring Hearst Castle, we needed to eat before making the several hour drive up PCH. We shared the fries, he got a burger, I got a turkey sandwich. Portions are huge and seating is both inside and outside. I liked my food though I couldn’t finish it! There are a bunch of cats roaming around the area, just an FYI.

The sad news is I went back to Sabastian’s a year ago to find out the former owners left… So did those awesome burgers… I was sad that the best burger joint no longer existed… The good news is that the former owners have a new place called«Café»… Someone posted on Unilocal and I just so happened to see it… Former owners of Sabastian’s have a new place making the same quality food the did when they were at Sabastian’s! So I went there and Their burger was just as good as I remembered it in my last review!!! If you are like me and remember how Sabastian’s used to be, take heart and go to Café next door to Linn’s Café, and eat one of the best burgers once again!

A tour of Hearst Castle can make you pretty hungry. I’m not sure it’ll make you quite hungry enough for the thick, barbecue-loaded Tri Tip Sandwich, but it’s pretty close. Sebastian’s is probably the best place to try Hearst Ranch Beef at an affordable price as well. It’s great beef, full in flavor. The burger with pepper jack cheese and a slab New Mexican green chile is amazing, and the burger with thick strips of bacon and guac is simple but great. Having the wine tasting right across the counter is a plus as well, though the wines are young and need time to grow. Overall, of you go to Hearst Castle and you want something to eat, you probably won’t do better than Sebastian’s in San Simeon.

Checked Unilocal before heading up to Hearst Castle and glad we did! This place has some great burgers and customer service. We had a good range of burgers and the chips, oops I mean, French Fries(although to me they look like chips!!!), were so moorish. The seasoning made you want more! We had a swordfish burger, cheese burger and a green chili burger plus some fish tacos! They were tourist priced so they were expensive by American standards but about half the price you’d pay in Straya and no where as good! There was huge outdoor area to eat which worked well for us as we could have the kids run around and say hi to the horses! It’s attached to a winery so if you’re keen go and have a tasting, although the burgers would go better with a nice cold coke! Forget the Hearst Castle service Center food and come here instead! Lots of room and fast service too!

The burgers look good in the picture, but really, just flavorless. Too bad because this is one of the few places for miles. There is wine tasting and a few gift shop items. Other than eating at Hearst Castle, this is the closest place to eat.

We came at lunch time on our trip to Big Sur. My brother came here about a year ago and told us that it was one of the best burgers he had ever had… so we had some high expectations. Get there early — it fills up fast. They do seem to have a lot of seating(mostly outside). Go to the picnic beaches on the East side of the property to sit by the horses and under the beautiful trees! These are HUGE burgers — seriously. I missed the«½ pound» sign on the menu board. Share one with someone… unless you can eat half a cow. The burger was really good but far from the best burger I’ve ever eaten. Fries were ok — I think they were seasoned with Old Bay or something… not a huge fan. They have wine bar/tasting area inside also and they sell merchandise and Hearst meat too. It’s worth a stop but if it’s super crowded, I would skip it.

WARNING! This is not the same Sebastian’s store as the one profiled on TV and with all the five star reviews. Ownership changed, menu decimated, my hopes and dreams dashed. The old place was on my list of best sandwich in California. This is NOT the same. — Be aware that many of the pictures associated to this place are from the previous Sebastian’s store, so don’t come here expecting those offering to be here anymore. — Deeply disappointed.
