Great food for the price and location. Lots of locals = must be the place to go. I had fried chicken that was really good, cole slaw crisp and I had to get the chicken livers too. I was crazy full from my awesome feast! I also topped it of with a fresh sweet tea! Cheers!

I am going to keep this short… Golden Skillet has friendly staff and the place is clean. The problem is the chicken is undercooked sometimes and the staff has a tendency to be a little unprofessional when speaking Spanish to each other as if nobody understands their language.

The chicken is lightly(or partially) breaded and generally somewhat bland: the chicken is not good, but not horrible either. It was freshly cooked. The Mac-and-cheese was best side and it was good but not great. The mashed potatoes and gravy were flavorless and the baked beans tastes like reheated canned beans with beer pored in: I am certain that is the case. The biscuit was good: light and flaky. Had I had butter and/or jam, that would have been the highlight the meal.

The good parts of Golden Skillet are: 1. The staff is really nice. 2. The place is really clean. 3. The vibe is super welcoming. The bad parts of Golden Skillet are: 1. The chicken is really dry and not flavorful. 2. The chicken livers were old and nearly inedible. 3. The sides were very very meh.

A+ on the chicken, the best in town! The gizzards were awful, no flavor at all. I can boil gizzards and eat them plain and has more flavor then theirs. I’ll stick to the fried chicken.

Golden Skillet Big Skillet Sandwich is usually my only order, but today I had a craving for their gizzards. Always cooked hot when ordered. A large is more then enough for a meal.

Golden Skillet has the best fried chicken in the East End, and perhaps the best fried chicken I’ve ever had. Crispy, succulent, juicy, and worthy of the residents of Mount Olympus, Golden Skillet is the yardstick for which I compare all other fried chicken. Don’t be deterred by the vat of discarded cooking oil out back. Contrary to what the container’s conspicuousness hints, the fried eats at Golden Skillet aren’t greasy. If fried gizzards and livers are your thing, they have those too. And friendly service. And tasty, cheap cheesecake. I only wish I didn’t live 100 miles away, so I could partake regularly.
