Great food! Pork was awesome(although maybe a tad bit greasy)! Smoked chicken was great, too. Husband says that the Mac n Cheese was«really good». We debated between 4 and 5 stars and went with 5 because of the overall experience.

Nice people. Disappointed that the chicken was cold. Quarter chicken for $ 13.00 and two sides. For that price you should get a half chicken.

I was hoping this would be a hidden gem– but it’s really greasy BBQ– I ate my beans first, and when i ready to eat my BBQ sandwich, the bun was so soggy from grease that it was falling apart. Not cool. I do like that they have 3 different sauces that you can try on the BBQ. They have a 1 refill limit on soft drinks– which is just obnoxious…

This place is decorated nicely and the employees are really kind but the good things about this place stops there. I’ve been here on 2 separate occasions and each time I left thoroughly disappointed. The first time I had a brisket sandwich. It was full of fat and a bit too chewy. My second visit I had the smoked chicken and it was awful. It had little seasoning, not much smoke and tasted as if it had been cooked days in advance and reheated. The cole slaw tasted weird and the beans had too much smoke. Plus, you pay $ 2.49 for a drink and are only allowed one refill? It’s not even a big cup. This place could be something but it’s got to change their recipes, have better menu signage when you walk in and not overcharge on drinks.

Best bar-b-qua ever. Best service ever. I don’t even know where to begin. Oh boy. Let’s start with the delicious baked beans… I don’t know how they managed to make them smoky and oh-so-good. Definitely best baked beans ever! Also, the pulled pork was so delicious, I did not even need to add any sauce to the meat itself, because it was amazing just by itself. Don’t forget to order the banana pudding for dessert!!! As for the ambience, it’s very casual, but very clean and comfortable. A perfect place to stop on a road trip on the east coast!

Had a late lunch here a month ago, and wow, the BBQ was fantastic, the ambiance was very inviting, the portions and price was right too. Highly recommended, except the hush puppies– fix that and you will become famous throughout the galaxy.

About the coolest, most rustic and clean mom & pop BBQ I’ve ever encountered. As for the food– I’m diving into my Pulled Pork and its EXCELLENT. Perfect tenderness and flavor. And the side Slaw was a great recipe as well. Kudos and God bless the sole proprietor.

Pulled off the road for a quick lunch only to find by accident the greatest bbq served by the kindest people! Pulled pork Sandwich was incredibly and the slaw was the perfect pair with this delicious sandwich. It was a match made in heaven. The sides were equally as good. Mac ‘n Cheese, Beans and my favorite the green beans! I only wish I was a local so I could quickly become a regular. Very clean and welcoming. Best staff and owners. Southern hospitality at its best!

Great down home feel with outstanding service and awesome bbq! The owners are always pleasant and courteous. This is a regular establishment for my family to visit on my days off when we have the extra cash. Thanks for great business!

The barbeque was good, there was not but two homemade barbeque sauces to choose from, neither being very good. They did keep KC Masterpiece onhand though lol. The coleslaw lacked flavor, the baked beans had some green chucks in it, wasn’t sure if it was celery, pickle, green pepper, couldn’t tell. I had about two bites, that was enough. They were extremely pricey, $ 10 for a lunch bbq sandwich, which came on a typical small, hamburger bun you get at Wal-Mart. I did give three stars ONLY bc the actual meat was good and the staff was friendly. They need to really think about creating a variety of homemade sauces, that would be great, along with not pricing their food like it’s a Ruth Chris.

Best service and food near Richmond airport. Lunch BBQ plate was great and plentiful. Clean comfortable restaurant for the while family. Try the Hilbilly Red sauce or the NC Vinegar. I prefer the Red but the vinegar was also good.

On the way to visit a nursing home in Mechanicville, I took our Chinese exchange student to try some true Virginia cuisine. We ordered the pulled pork, coleslaw, collards and french fries. The pulled pork had a melt in your mouth savory deliciousness and you can taste real smoke. The staff is friendly. The place is clean. Our student wishes somebody would open a Southern BBQ restaurant in Beijing.

Great. Super sweet woman took our order and the food was so good. Went with a customer of mine and I had the pork bbq, greens, and baked beans. I also had the cornbread which was a little sweet and incredibly moist. They are located a little past the airport. If I lived in town I’d be a regular, no doubt.

I largely agree with Jeff P’s review, minus the overall rating. I also got the feeling that these are«good people», they seemed genuinely concerned about me enjoying my meal, and were very accomodating. The place was very clean, they had some tables set up outdoor, and since it was a nice sunny day, I enjoyed eating there. I also tried the pulled pork and ribs, and agree that the ribs were flavorful but a bit dry, and the two types of pulled pork were quite typical for a decent BBQ joint. While not as good as the BBQ I enjoy in Texas, this is the best BBQ that I have visited in this area of Virginia. I got quite a bit of food for my money, more than I could finish, the sides were good, the corn bread was good, and the meat was enjoyable. This is a place that I would visit again, and I would recommend it to anyone for a solid lunch.

This is a place that I really wanted to write a good review of. They greeted me warmly, were really attentive and nice. The location is really nice cabin looking structure that is really clean. I could just tell this place was run by «good people». But the food was mediocre. We tried the pulled pork and ribs. The ribs had a deep smoke penetration and were fairly tender. The flavor was decent(nothing special) and they were exceptionally dry. I don’t mean dry because they are served without sauce, which is totally fine. I mean dry as in old or overcooked. The BBQ sauces were average and uncreative; store bought quality. Their was a total absence of spicy BBW sauce, which I concocted with a hot-sauce addition. The sides were adequate and the cornbread was quite good. I will definitely return and try again. Perhaps this was just an off day for the kitchen. If that visit is better, I’ll update the review.

Good brisket. Very personable service. It’s a bit out of my usual orbit, but if I’m in the Sandston area again I’d certainly visit again. Bonus: Cole slaw is AWESOME.
