Fun coffee shop in downtown Sandusky. Neat old building, plenty of seating, great service and beautiful artwork covering the walls. The coffee is wonderful and their spinach quiche might very well be the best I’ve ever had anywhere.

This is a really cool coffee shop. The coffee is delicious and the food menu is very good. The food isn’t bare minimum like most coffee places but neither is it too much for a coffee place. I ordered a chicken club with cottage cheese on the side. The sandwich was better than most clubs I’ve had. The quality of the chicken was very good; a smooth bite through due to the tenderness. The cottage cheese was good. It had no bitterness to it but only a slight sweetness and softness that made it feel like rice pudding. I enjoyed it. My wife ordered a crumb cake coffee — a regular flavored coffee and it too was good. The muffin she ordered, an apple/carrot mix, had the right amount of moisture when heated. The atmosphere was great. Probably one of the best designed coffee houses I’ve seen. I greatly enjoyed that the coffee house doubled as a local art gallery. I very nearly walked out with an $ 80.00 painting. I took a picture of it in case I want it in the future. Things of Note: board games and cards area, free books area(take one donate one). If I lived in Sandusky it would be my favorite place to hang.

The atmosphere, the sandwiches and wraps, the desserts and above all the coffee make this one of the nicest places downtown Sandusky. My wife and I make it a point to stop by and have a quick bite or a nice lunch whenever we are downtown. Truly a delightful place in our city. By the way, the inside is decorated with art and photos of local artists, most of it for sale. It is never the same, it is always delightful.

Strong coffee, a lot of choice, friendly staff. One star off for the interior is quite dark without windows.

I’m in LOVE with this place. The atmosphere is cozy, yet roomy, with a distinctive and quaint vibe. Walking up to the door there’s a positive atmosphere where you feel at home, and looking to the left you see the lake. It’s a very peaceful start to grabbing a cup of coffee. Walking inside there’s a side room for quietly enjoying your coffee, and ahead a large open ceiling room with the bar and most of the seating. To your left there’s also a couch with a coffee table that has a built in chess set. The wait to order and receive my food was relatively short, waiting maybe 5 minutes for my mocha, egg bagel, and black bean burger. The customer service was direct, friendly, and overall pleasant. It wasn’t anything spectacular, but it was good enough to not warrant complaints for any part. Apart from the atmosphere, the food was what really earned Mr. Smith’s a 5 Star review. The best black bean burger I’ve ever tasted, and I have to admit, probably one of the best mocha’s I’ve ever had as well. I was very impressed with the food, and can’t wait to come back the next time I’m in Sandusky.

Super cute coffee shop!!! We stopped in to grab a cup before we got on the jet express. Loved the local art on the walls and that they offered BOTH soy and almond milk :) we just got coffee but they had several vegetarian breakfast and lunch options. Really cute place if your killing time before heading to put in bay

Great first date started at Mr. Smith’s! Met a man on who lives in the Cleveland area and I live in the Toledo area, so we decided to meet halfway in-between. I looked at the reviews on Unilocal and picked Mr. Smith’s. Went an additional step and e-mailed them and told them the story. With rain in the forecast, they reserved a small table in the front private room for us since we could not sit outside. Coffee was awesome!!! So was the date! After strolling around downtown Sandusky, having lunch, afternoon crab cakes, beer, and watching the sunset, our first date ended 12 hours later. Thanks, Mr. Smith’s!!!

Verizon fluctuates here for some reason. Rainy cloudy day. First and probably only time here. Goes from 1 bar to 3 to 2 to 1. And won’t hold call. Could only stay on Conf call by turning everything off on the phone, ie data, wifi, sync, etc. still flakey but wouldn’t drop the call. Very large coffee house. Can’t wait to check out menu!

Great coffee shop in the Sandusky area. My husband and I like to frequent«mom and pop» shops even when out on vacation. We visited here twice in one day. I had a croissant breakfast sandwich with ham and it was so yummy! The Mayan chocolate was nothing short of amazing! My husband really enjoyed his Americano. We will be back when we visit this are again.

Recently went here with a friend for lunch on a Saturday. Immediately thought it was cute and charming, which was in stark comparison to some of the surrounding area. There was a nice view of the water, though! I had the greek chicken wrap which came with chips and a pickle. The wrap was freshly made and filling, with grilled chicken, feta, hummus, and wilted spinach. If I lived closer to the area, I would certainly consider turning this into a ‘go-to’ working spot. Highly recommend if you’re in the area looking for a quick lunch, but be careful: they close early on Saturdays!

ive been to sandusky three times and know this used to be two other places. i had a black bean burger. i opted to oust the bun and go with a jalapeño wrap and cole slaw as a side. the burger wrap was small but tasty. im not sure how they propsed the wrap to be anything jalapeño-like…it was yellow and not spicy at all. the cole slaw was tasty as well. appeared to be locals doing their thing. free wifi artwork on the walls available for sale.

Fantastic atmosphere inside and a gorgeous view of the Lake Erie shoreline from their bistro tables set up outside. The coffee is also on par with the best of Northern Ohio in my opinion with better than average micro foam. Well worth the drive away from Cedar Point if you’re in town visiting.

This is one of the best coffee shops in Northern Ohio hands down. This biggest problem that doesnt get them five stars are the hours. During the week they closed way to early like 6pm and on sunday they dont open at all. I like the cinnamon bagels and Mocha Lattes are what I order the most. I wish they would be open for longer hours but this is Sandusky Ohio.

You mean there’s more to experience than Cedar Point??? THEUP-SIDE: Mr. Smith’s is a welcome addition to the main drag in downtown Sandusky. It’s open, inviting, offers a nice selection of well made sandwiches and drinks, and friendly service. The space is open — great for people like me who don’t like to feel closed in when they write — and the walls are covered in art by myriad local artists. Free wi-fi closes the deal. THEDOWN-SIDE: Finding a downside to this place feels unfair. It’s the best coffee shop anywhere near, and I am always happy to hang out here for a while. If I had to be picky, I’d say the hours need a bit of tweaking. The place closes at 6 Monday through Friday, at 5 on Saturday, and 3 on Sunday. It’s always full of people when it closes, and everybody has to just pack up and leave. Staying open to at least 6 all week would definitely encourage return business. And, oh yeah… Outlets. They have a good number of outlets on the one side, but the other is sorely lacking. Laptop peeps like me are sometimes hard pressed to find a place to leech off the energy! THESUM-IT-UP: Mr. Smith’s is a great little coffee shop, with a unique vibe. It has a warm feel and seems to be a popular place in the neighborhood. If they could adjust those hours to something more reasonable for the customers, they’d have a fifth star.

Went there twice while in Sandusky for vacation. Stayed nearby @ the lofts and could walk there. Great selection of breakfast items including breakfast sandwiches, bagels, muffins and pastries. The coffees are great and the service is excellent. The open space inside to relax before a day out to the islands or Cedar Point. This place is a hidden gem!
