If you visit the Sandusky area you really have to visit Toft Dairy at least once. Great ice cream, tons of choices, gargantuan portions. They have the basics(choc/vanilla/strawberry) and many fun/wacky flavors. They offer a kid size cup and even that one is ginormous.

Being in Sandusky on a hot day, we were on a hunt for a nice cup of ice cream to cool us off. We searched and came upon Toft Dairy! This ice cream place has tons of flavors– but what really is surprising is the size of the portion. A small is literally, six scoops. LITERALLY six scoops. I asked them how big a small was, and when they responded with«six scoops», I thought they were joking(as they let you choose two flavors for their small). When we received our gigantic cup(or should I say pint?), it was enormous. All for three some dollars. We got the chocolate cookes n mint(kind of a girl scouts thin mints in chocolate ice cream) and the caramel ice cream with chocolate covered nuts(mudd of sea or something witty like that). It was okay? I mean, it just tasted like ice cream you would probably buy out of the store(or maybe I’m just spoiled by good ice cream places in CLE). Anyways, if you’re looking for massive amounts of ice cream for cheap(I seriously don’t know how people were finishing their large size ice creams), then this is the place for you!

The best ice cream I have ever had! I would come here often growing up whenever we came to the harbor to go boating. Now I live in Houston TX and can’t get it. I so wish it could be shipped and sold here!

Best ice cream I’ve had in a long, long time! Fresh, creamy and tons of flavors. This peanut butter lover went with the buckeye bite and peanut butter cup. Delicious.

This ice cream was amazing! We all had the hand scooped ice cream in a myriad of flavors. Every flavor was awesome. The muddy sea salt caramel was the ! We visited yesterday and my mouth waters every time I think about this ice cream.

AWESOME ice cream and large portions for cheap prices! We went on a bone chilling evening and it was still pretty darn busy. That tells you all you need to know. Saw some review that they will not let you taste — but that is false. We sampled away on those tiny spoons and the staff was great about it. PS — a small cup is PLENTY for an adult. About 3 scoops it looked like.

Toft’s ice cream is amazing. The servings are big and the prices are small. I had the ‘Herd of Cows’ ice cream and it was delicious! The only thing I would say is if you don’t want to eat a lot then you would probably want to get a small or even a kids size! The small is about 5 semi-large scoops and the medium is 6 – 8 scoops! Bottom line is, if you’ve never had Toft’s, then you’re missing out!

I do not get around to Toft’s very often seeing as it is all the way up in Sandusky, but when we are visiting the in-laws we try to get over there. The ice cream at Toft’s is always really good! They have so many, maybe too many, flavors to pick from. But they will allow you to get more than one flavor in a cup so that makes the decision slightly easier. My favorite flavors are the ones that have little caramel or marshmallow stuffed pieces… yes there are more then one. The only down fall here is the décor. I think the shop maybe used to be up to date, but now it seems a little run down. It’s not too bad, but hopefully they will put a little money into the inside of the parlor soon. Not that this will detour me from the ice cream! Did I talk about the sizes? The sizes here are huge! I have to order the kids size scoop, not joking, and I still can’t manage to eat it all. Usually I need to share because it’s just way too much. The prices for these giant sizes are extremely reasonable too. Maybe it’s just the smaller town thing, but you can’t get anything for that price in Columbus. Worth the drive to find if you’re in the area!

I recently moved to Sandusky from Columbus and I visited Toft Dairy because of all the hype on Unilocal and Zomato. When i walked inside Toft’s the place just looks run-down, it reminded me of an old gas station that needs to up-date it’s interior. Which is surprising because the exterior seems well groomed and welcoming. The line to the counter was long, it gave me time to appreciate all the dirty décor. Concluding the long wait I was rewarded with my dairy desert. Can’t really gather why all the locals rave about this place. The only logical explanation is that they don’t have Jeni’s or Coldstone up here. Overall, pretty disappointing ice cream adventure. I’ll probably explore other creameries to satisfy my dairy cravings.

Oh, I love Toft’s. I used to stop by every time I went to the orthodontist to have my braces tightened. That and getting out of school made the pain worth it. The servings they give you are huge and I’ve never found another ice cream company that makes ice cream as good as Tofts does. When I moved to Michigan a part of me died because I have to live without my favorite ice cream. I’ve never even found another brand that makes yellow cake batter or cotton candy, two of my favorite flavors!

I’m not a huge ice cream person but whenever I am remotely in the area I stop here. Last time I had red velvet and it was literally in the top 3 flavors I have ever had in my life. They must put crack in it… its that good! Always a line but it moves fast. Kids working are kind of indifferent but if I had a constant line of husky Americans constantly flowing through the place I would get a lil over it too. If this place would be in Cleveland it would be twice the price and given some kinda lame name like«artisanal» or something. Its honest ice cream made in Western Ohio… and its damn good.

When visitng Sandusky… this is a must stop — even in December! This local favorite tops the list of ice cream shops all across the great state of Ohio. My little girl loves the experience of going inside too, rather than visiting a walk up window or drive thru. Go get three scoops right now!

Found Toft’s on Unilocal and decided we should stop while here for our vacation! We were not disappointed! SOMANYFLAVORS and it made it hard to choose! All 4 of us in my family had waffle cones. They fill those suckers full! We had a late breakfast and with as much ice cream as we got don’t think we will be eating lunch. Service was so-so and what do you expect from high school age teens. Chocolate peanut butter was delicious! Loved it! My hubby and kids loved theirs too and we all decided this was a great choice! Would definitely return if we are back this way!

FANTASTIC selection of flavors, HUGE portions, and some of the best ice cream I’ve ever had. I was in town for a wedding and visited Toft’s twice… for breakfast. Because that was the only time my schedule allowed. Yes, it was that good. Each time I got a small waffle cone with two flavors in the cone. I’m fearful of what a large waffle cone looks like because this was the largest ice cream cone I’ve ever eaten. Worth every calorie. I sampled many flavors and my favorites were Caveman Chocolate and Buckeye Bites. Both were incredibly rich and were filled with full-sized pieces of candy. Thank goodness I don’t live anywhere near Toft’s — I’d be in serious trouble.

Listen. I’ve been a Toft’s fan since childhood; Like I said in my earlier review, I grew up on it. I had an opportunity to get Toft’s the last time visiting home, and I was so excited. That was, until I experienced the worst customer service in my life, from them. Milan Melon Fest weekend – a handwritten sign in black magic marker stated, «NOMELONICECREAM, SODON’T ASK.» Don’t ask? Wow, okay. Get inside. Line is long, as per usual. But the kids working there(yes, teenagers. Not a single adult in sight), were treating people HORRIBLE. Like, borderline yelling. And so rude. There’s also another handwritten sign that yells, «NOSAMPLES, NOEXCEPTIONS.» Damn, Toft’s! Since when did you get to be so stingy? I’ve always loved them, and their big servings, but I think I might just pass on you the next time I come home. You’re not as accommodating or nice as you used to be. I live in Columbus, Ohio, nowadays, so thank The Lord for Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams and Coppa Gelato!

So you get largish cone for $ 5. Sadly, I hated the flavors I was stuck with despite asking for recs from the staff. No samples kind of screwed the experience. Just spent $ 20 on ice cream that is reasonably creamy yet the flavors taste disgustingly artificial and use cheap ingredients. I got red velvet cake and wedding cake. Red velvet is NOTHING like the namesake. It is empty of flavor except sweet with few pieces of actual cake. Whits is far, far better. No trace of purported cream cheese frosting threads. Wedding cake, on rec from staff, has artificial raspberry threads and dry, somewhat browned(burnt?) white wedding cake. Again, just registers sticky, disgustingly sweet without any nuance or «parts and pieces» differentiation. S’mores was decent, but couldn’t try it except from my friends. #completeletdown

Toft’s has an ice cream parlor connected directly to their manufacturing facility… this is that location. It’s kind of out of the way but based on the queue line setup, I’m guessing they foot a lot of Cedar Point traffic going thru on route 6? Either way, this is a traditional ice cream parlor with(presumably) their entire line up of seriously awesome ice creams. Toft’s has a very small radius their product is distributed. I have purchased at Kroger in the Toledo area but we do not have in Indiana. There is also a Toft’s parlor at Cedar Point. Their claim is Ohio’s Oldest Dairy and homegrown is always good with me. Beats the industrial volumes churned out by Nestle and Breyers. Lots of certificates and other awards adorned the parlor… you can also purchase tee shirts, golf shirts, etc. There is a patio area out front which would be perfect for a summer evening(March and 28 degrees, not so much). The seating inside is kind of weird… kind of like those chairs in college classrooms but all wood? And all against a single wall. You can also purchase take home ice cream, milk, and other assorted products. Ordered a single waffle cone(Blueberry Waffle Cone flavor… so good) and it literally was about five or six scoops when said and done. Clown sized ice cream cone… could barely finish. Staff is very nice. If you are in the area this place is worth stopping at… if nothing else supporting a local business. Love the ice cream, 5 stars.
