Tonight was date night for my husband and me. We’ve been looking at this Dry Creek Steakhouse for some time as we shop at the Sand Super Target regularly. The poor reviews and the sparse parking lot have always scared us away. We finally got sick of Goodwood and Olive Garden and decided to give Dry Creek a whirl. We should have just gone to Sonic. Upon arrival, the restaurant just smells old… similar to a basement of an old house that’s not been finished or cared for. We were immediately sat since there were very few people there. We sat in a half circle booth which was pretty cool but very uncomfortable. The back had no filling, it was just a cover over a frame or something. Our waitress(blonde from Texas) was a kind woman but seemed frazzled which was odd since there were so few people there. We decided to order an appetizer, Spinach Artichoke Dip which was served to us cold. I even said something to her in which she offered to ‘warm it up’. My husband just finished it. We both ordered dinner salads, Chris got a house with honey mustard and I got a Caesar salad. My lettuce was so soggy and very old, no crunch at all. There was more dressing than lettuce even. My husband enjoyed his dinner salad but didn’t receive the honey mustard he ordered with it. We’re 0 for 2 now and feeling insecure about how dinner comes out. My husband and I both ordered a Cajun pasta dish. I ordered mine without any of the meat(Chicken, Shrimp or Sausage). I explained to the server that I would prefer to have it without meat and if that could possibly be an issue, I would happily order something different. She assured me it would be fine. I received my meal with chicken. Normally I wouldn’t really complain but I don’t eat meat and this was a ton of meat to work around. I let her know I had asked without chicken and she argued that she heard no shrimp and no sausage. I wondered how she missed that I don’t eat meat, will this be a complication or a problem because I was happy to order something else. They remade the pasta but didn’t make it with any of the vegetables or with the Cajun sauce. It was pasta and some sort of cream sauce. It wasn’t terrible but it was terribly boring for $ 20. As a concession, they offered me(not my husband) free dessert. We ended up taking everything to go, I was just ready to get out of there. Normally I read and take note of reviews and base my(dinner) choices on them. We live in Salt Lake City so there’s no shortage of places to eat. This time I mistakenly thought maybe people were too picky. This place couldn’t stay in business with these terrible reviews right? WRONG. I don’t know how they stay in business but its definitely not due to their great food and excellent service. Although it wasn’t the worst experience we’ve had, we will not be back nor would we recommend Dry Creek Steakhouse. We would have been better off at the Target Café for date night.

Horrible food. Place is dirty. Better food at sizzler! My «jumbo» shrimp skewers were barely bigger than a quarter and undercooked. Salad? Pile of lettuce with a slimy onion slice. Will never go again.

We had a group party at this restaurant. They over charged our group and refused to make it right. Since we paid for 9 extra meals, we asked to get the meals to-go. They brought them out in the to-go containers and while the side dishes were cooked, they wrapped raw steaks in cellophane, right next to the cooked food(expecting us to grill ‘em up, I guess!) This restaurant had terrible customer service. The steaks were tiny, I could have gotten the same quality and sized steak at Sizzler for much less. I will never return here.

Portions are huge, service is nice. The appetizers was large but not great. This is a nice steak house that serves crab, why not a crab cake for an appetizers? I got the prime rib and it was great. The rub was phenomenal. I also added on crab and I was shocked at the size of the side of Crab was. I took all my prime rib to go. Because I spent my entire meal eating the wonderful crab. Tip… get a candle holder to keep the butter melted and warm. It was a quiet night on the day we visited. But we will come back. Service is why I will come back. Crab is another reason. Even if I need to bring my own melting station for my butter.

We didn’t have to wait long to be seated and the service was decent, but that’s where the good news ended. The food was terrible. I ordered the salmon oscar and wish I would have taken a picture of it. The salmon was dry, the crab tasted terrible and was not fresh, probably out of a can. It had the look of canned tuna. The hollandaise sauce was a huge heap of orange curdled sauce piled on top of the dry salmon. It was a solid mass and really wasn’t edible. Nothing saucy about it. I was shocked that they served it that way. The steamed vegetables were frozen steamed veggies, although they did taste ok. My loaded baked potato was ok if you don’t mind prepackaged bacon bits. We weren’t asked if the food was ok and all I ate was the veggies and potato. It was a waste of $ 30.00 and I can’t recommend this restaurant to you. Chick-fil-a is next door and a better option.

I RARELY review for anything, and only when I have something worth writing about. I ordered my steak medium rare, and it came out well done. Next time I will send it back. I added the bleu cheese and mushroom sauce, which made the steak pretty tasty regardless of the fact I was eating beef jerky. Service was a little slow, so sending it back during dinner rush wasn’t going to end well for me. I don’t know how experienced the hostess was, but I think it might be her first gig. Lots of people in the small waiting area with reservations and she seated me at a table with seating for four and it was packed in there. I was a little confused, but whatever. Parties of two or three people were seated at large booths and groups of six are waiting. It was just a bit backwards. It was very busy when I arrived and it was just me going in there. I just wanted to grab a steak and be out of there in under an hour. I requested to sit at the bar, but was told no bartender was working, which was weird. Don’t know if s/he didn’t show or what, but it bothered me a bit. So I couldn’t sit at the bar… whatever. Not a big deal. After being seated, I didn’t see my server for about 10 minutes before she came to take my drink order. I told her I was ready to order and she aid she would get my drink and come back for my food order, while I look over the menu a little longer. Finally got my order in and she stopped by my table a few times to see if I needed anything. Once my food came out, I didn’t see her again. I didn’t get a refill on my drink until my meal was almost finished, and it was the another server who brought it to me. The manager came to drop off my check because my server was occupied with another table. She looked a bit confused by the whole process, like she had never given anyone their check before. In her bewildered look she said, «I guess… uh…I am supposed to give this to you… How is your meal?» and walked away before I could give a response. I tried to get my card out of my wallet to give to her right away but she was long gone. Things I noticed about the restaurant: 1. The minute I walked in and observed the dining area, I didn’t see a lot of activity. On a night as busy as they were, servers weren’t in a hurry to get anywhere and very few of them at that. I could sense that service was going to be lacking at best right from the get go. 2. Ambiance was weird. Is it a sports bar or a decent steakhouse? Not sure. Having googled a steakhouse in Sandy, UT to even hear about this place, I didn’t read any reviews or have any preconceived notions of what to expect. I halfway expected to it to be a little more steakhouse feel than bar(even though limited bar service was offered). TV’s everywhere and bright lights. I expected a little better feel to the place, but a bowl game I was interested in watching was on, so it was fine in this instance. 3. The staff had some very poor communication skills amongst themselves. I was seated next to the computer, and being there alone, overheard some of their conversations. One server was upset because he was never told that he was supposed to be taking care of a group of 10+ seated behind me and they were unhappy. Another server was complaining to a manager because they seated three groups in a row in his area and he couldn’t stagger their service since they all needed the same things at the same time. The good things: 1. Price. For the amount of food I got, not bad. The rolls were awesome. Almost worth the price of admission. Having expected a bit nicer ambiance, I was prepared to pay $ 40 for a steak and got out of there for under $ 40 with steak, drink, tax & tip. 2. The food: Even though the steak was overcooked, the sauce made it. I think I would put that on most anything beef. I’d love to try it again with a medium-rare steak. The vegetables were cooked al dente, just how they should be. I don’t eat much clam chowder, but it was better than others for which I’ve paid much more money. 3. The menu: Simple enough it was not overwhelming by any means, but offered more than some steakhouses, so I didn’t feel pigeonholed into just a couple options. After all of this long winded babble, I will probably try this place again. I know that when times are busy, the chef/cook can overcook a few things once in a while, so I will give them a pass for now on the steak prep. Also, the service being a bit sub par, I can’t hold that against the whole staff. I overheard another table tell a manager how wonderful their server was and spoke highly of her. The food was good enough for me to overlook a couple of the flaws and give it a shot another time. If I were not local, no way would I eat here if I came back town, but living down the street, I will be back next time I want to snag a delicious cut of cow. Perhaps when the bartender is there and it is not a busy weekend dinner rush.

I recently attended a work lunch at Dry Creek which is ironic because my steak was really dry. I asked for it to be cooked Medium Rare but got Medium Well. Also the service wasn’t that great. We had a party of about 22 which is big but we were the only ones there. It was over an hour until we received our food and there was no way I was going to ask for my steak to be cooked properly. $ 20 for a steak better be worth it but it tasted like I was at Sizzler(I don’t like Sizzler!). I would pass on this place.

The food was ok. Nothing to write home about. Nothing on the healthy side and the menu is very isolated. No burgers after 4 pm which is a disservice when you advertise that on your building. Steak salad didn’t have much flavor. The steak was really bland. No salt or pepper on the table. No water and no bread offered. Waiter was really nice though. The décor is really weird. Feels like a sports bar but the menu said steakhouse. It’s like they stole the décor from the previous owner and never updated. Won’t go back.

I won’t return! We ordered the Cajun fries and sent them back. They were over cooked and the batter was way off… too much egg. I ordered the steak salad. Half my steak was well done and the other half was medium like I asked for. The avacado was brown. The dressing was super yummy though. My salad was an entrée salad and was served with my husbands soup. Servers should be trained as to how that works. My husband ordered a ribeye with mashed potatoes and veggies. The mashed potatoes had undercooked bacon on them. We told the server and he told us it was premixed. What a horrible answer. The veggies were cauliflower and carrots clearly from a bag of frozen veggies. His meal was $ 26 and worth $ 8. Shame on the managers and the chef for allowing this, not checking on guests and improving the quality. You just lost a customer. Perhaps you should call Robert Irvine to help you improve.

My husband & I happened to be driving down State St & saw the Dry Creek Steakhouse, & since we hardly come to that side of town, hadn’t seen it before. It was dinner time anyway so we thought we would try it. We really didn’t know what to expect but were very pleasantly surprised. As we parked, one of the servers was coming in & we asked her about the place. She said the food was really good & it was a good place to eat. We were seated within a couple minutes by a friendly face. Our waitress, Mary, was very nice & had a good sense of humor, which was good because my husband was teasing her. The food we ordered was excellent: potato skins, the New Orleans Pasta & the Cajun Chicken Pasta, & salads.(I can’t wait to have my leftovers tomorrow.). We shared the white chocolate strawberry cheesecake & it was to die for. Susan, the owner, stopped to check on us, & we visited for quite a while, as she was very friendly & caring. We will definitely come back again. R & Z

Only giving one star… and it’s for the amount of parking in the area and the opportunity to at least go to Target and get my own fresh food to go home and make a meal myself. The food was HORRIBLE – overlooked meat is just not good and if this establishment claims to serve fresh… fresh frozen might be a better description. Staff knowledge of the menu lacks and I really wouldn’t recommend this place even as a last resort. If you’re looking for a farm to table, plate licking, mouth watering experience… don’t choose here. Wishing the place well.

Came here for an early dinner on a Saturday night. It was fairly empty when we arrived but by the time we left there were six other tables. How can I be so sure? Because despite it being a fairly decent sized establishment they sat every table right next to one another. I got to hear other servers offering wine and the days specials to other patrons and wondered why our server hadn’t mentioned either. The food is okay. My husband had ribs and I ordered prime rib. We decided to order the spinach artichoke dip to start. The dip itself was okay. The bread it came with was… interesting. It was large slices of Italian bread which literally looked like it had been put under a broiler. Some parts were pale and other parts burned. The ribs were good and the baked potato was very good. The prime rib was not as tasty as I have had at other places. There were big fat chunks(2 inches thick) in at least 3 places. I am sure most of the weight came from these unappetizing chunks. The meat itself wasn’t bad. Another interesting thing — the Caesar salad has parmesan cheese chunks. Not grated, not shredded but I had a big chunk of cheese on my salad. This wasn’t a bad restaurant but also isn’t great.

This is my first ever review but it was such a bad experience I want the owners to know and I mean this review as constrctive criticism. I really want this place to succeed. When we arrived, we were greeted with country music playing and saw a wagon wheel and thought cool country theme. When I walked in there was sports jersey’s everywhere and random placement of tvs. To us it felt like the place was trying to be a sports bar and had an identity crisis calling it a steak house. I also felt the menu was very broad for a steakhouse and I feel the broad menu is the downfall of the restaurant. The food was the worst food I ever tasted ever and I really mean it. We started with a sampler platter. My wife was excited about the stuffed mushrooms. They were soggy drenched in butter. My wife couldn’t even eat one. The mozzarella cheese sticks were standard store bought sticks and you can tell they were frozen. The chicken wings were good but cold in the center. Probably frozen too. My wife didn’t eat her entrée of chicken Alfredo it was super runny and there was no taste to the chicken or the noodles. She didn’t have the heart to tell the waitress that it was disgusting and asked for a to go box. I had the hickory burger. The burger was hard to chew, not juicy at all, and the hicory sauce tasted like standard store bought sauce. I ate half and pretended like I was full. The fries were delicious and I liked the idea of how they did their garlic bread rolls(despite them being soggy) My advice is if you want to be a steakhouse focus on amazing steakhouse meat, keep it fresh and offer less on the menu. We spent over $ 45 for dinner and left very unhappy

Went here for a business lunch. The food was below par and the service was cold. I had the fried fish and onion rings. Mine was soggy and tasteless. The steamed veggies were cold and devoid of taste. We ordered the combo appetizer and everything was dry and tasteless, except for the cheese sticks. We got the white chocolate raspberry cheesecake for dessert and it was pretty decent. Very large slice. I won’t be going back.

Very good service. Waitress was friendly. Had the rib eye. Steak was greasy and gristly but was seasoned well. Unfortunately it was Served with instant potatoes. However, the cheessecake was pretty good. Mediocre food not worth the price.

We went on a wed at 4pm to check out the restaurant for the first time. The waitress was knowledgeable, yet seamed bored. Menu was way overpriced, steaks starting at $ 23 for 8 oz and up to $ 36 for 12 oz prime rib. Rolls were presented hot with a brush of garlic butter, no other butter with them. Appetizer combo was ordered as entry, out of mozzarella stix Bummer ordered onion rings(they were good just like red robin) to replace. Came with wings chose sweet & spicy sauce, too much spicy tasted like Frank’s hot sauce. The potatoes skins ok but no better than any where else. The stuffed mushrooms watery and tasteless, I think it was sausage. My friend ordered a bar b que burger. This was his comment«The food is extremely greasy it should be called the grease pit… The burger was grease no flavor but grease. To the point 3. bites were eaten. If they can’t cook a hamburger how can the cook a steak.“guy fries are grease fries!!! Plates were taken without concern over uneaten food. Check presented by owner of the establishment, with her nose in the air, commented«the waitress worked for you, so you do need to leave her a tip.» Then walked away before we could rebuttal. I’m old but my taste buds haven’t died yet. Grease is grease. Put $ 2. In the book and walked out at 4:45 the only customers in the establishment. My stomach has been grumbling ever since! I wonder what restaurant will be there next.

What a joke. Whoever owns this place needs to cut their losses and tell their staff to move on. We showed up at 2(not exactly the lunch rush) and got blessed with a curt and snappy server. It wasn’t until she realized we were sorting out my brother’s funeral that she lost her crummy attitude and started treating us like valued customers. As for the food, the artichoke dip could easily be mistaken for some sort of tostidos cheese dip. My buffalo wrap’s chicken needed a PFD and the tortilla was not doing its job in containing the situation. And who wants pickles in a buffalo chicken wrap? Nobody. Its not a mcdouble. I’m not sure how you could make steak if you can’t properly sauce fried chicken and give it a warm tortilla home with carrot and celery companions. Thanks for trying. I guess.

Well if you order anything other than steak its a great place to eat. The Blackened Chicken Penne, Blue Cheese Burger, Guy Burger and the Texas Inferno Burger were a tasty great buy for the money. I had the 12oz rib eye, while the flavor was spot on the steak itself was a horrible cut of beef. My favorite marbled edge was fatty and full of grizzle and could not cut it with my knife. It was more like a piece of steak you put in a steak sandwich. It’s worth $ 26 for sure.

Waitress was very unsure of her self and not very knowledgable with the drink menu. For the price of the food(5 star restaurant pricing), you would think the service would be 5 star service. Ordered the Cajun Asparagus and artichoke dip as the appetizers. The asparagus was phenomenal! The artichoke dip should have been called a cheese dip as you couldn’t taste the artichoke or spinach. It did come in a very plentiful serving size. Now for the food! I ordered the ribeye steak and the flavor was absolutely wonderful!!! Although the amount of gristle was abnormally high for this«hand cut» ribeye. The loaded mash potatoes were gross. There was a good pound of melted cheese over the potatoes… Overkill just a bit. Overall it was good to try ONCE, but I wouldn’t eat here again.

Love to explore new places and we eat out a lot. We stopped in for lunch. Had the Texas firehouse burger and my husband got the mushroom burger both meals came with fries. At first glance the prices we’re a bit high but when we got our meal found it was well worth the price. Meal was wonderful, I would have to give my burger a 8 and the fries were yummy and made with real potatoes. Service was okay, slow on drink refills. I only gave 4 starts due to a dirty dish they gave us to mix fry sauce in. All in all I would go back and eat here again. Let’s just hope this restaurant makes it in this location where others have been short lived.
