Sweetest Confessions

I live in the area and have quite the sweet tooth, so was excited when I saw this sweet shop around the corner. Went in with my husband one day to try it out, and was extremely disappointed. The store was fairly empty and had a very small selection. We each ordered a lunch plate and dessert. Although some of the flavors in the sandwich were good, its dryness overpowered anything positive about it. As for the desserts, we split a cupcake and an éclair, neither of which I would ever pay anything for. In fact, had they been free and at a social event, I still wouldn’t have gone back for seconds. You have to really know your stuff to succeed as a dessert shop these days, and honestly I’m confused as to how they’re still sticking around.

Limited selection and it’s only open from 7 – 3.

This bakery is a treasure in the southern Salt Lake Valley. The location is prime with easy access in a large shopping strip mall. My kids school is within close proximity, making it very easy for us to stop in there quickly after school or between running errands. Besides selling delicious pastries, the bakery offers great lunches, including a choice of a pastry. At times, we have been able to snag specials, such as pork quesadillas, which my picky children love! My boyfriend loves the fruit tarts and the BBQ pork buns, the latter is a great option if one is trying to stay away from the pastries. Another favorite in my family is the brownies, the yummy ganache drizzled on top is a winner! The service is very friendly, the atmosphere relaxing and comfortable. I see a lot of elderly customers in there that seem very partial to the eclairs and cream puffs — the custard used in those is phenomenal, not too sweet and definitely not bland! Satisfy your sweet tooth at this wonderful bakery!

Sweetest Confessions makes me sad. The majority of their pastries are average, a few are quite good, but some items verge on bad.
This small bakery has a few items worth stopping in for but only if you’re in the immediate area. It is not a place worth driving for.
I do like the Brownies. Simple. Rich. Dense. A true, honest fudge brownie. Yum!
The Sugar Cookies are simply put: Not Good. Bland and flavorless. Boo!
Maybe the lunch offerings are better than confections in the display case, but given the average nature of the baked goods, I’ve not been tempted to find out.

They were kind enough to let us camp out here while we caught up with a friend. The fruit tarts are good, with a cookie type base. The cannolis and eclairs were OK, but nothing special. Prices aren’t too bad for a bakery and they had a really good selection when we stopped in.
Both the cases were full and the to-​go treats for Halloween looked good.

I work in the area and needed a quick bite while waiting for an Rx to be filled, but didn’t want fast food. I have shopped in the area frequently, but never stopped by Sweetest Confessions — or even noticed the place! I decided to give it a try. I got the soup & salad lunch special for $ 7.95; it came with a soup of choice and a small salad. I got the pasta fagioli soup and it was DELICIOUS! The meal also came with a roll and a dessert (one that is $ 1.50 or less) of choice. I got a chocolate mini cupcake with chocolate ganache on top, it was really good! It had chocolate shavings on top and a white filling inside.
The employee (maybe the owner?) working was *very* friendly and sweet. I would agree that they need more gift/​boutique-​y items, but the food was really good and service was great. It is great for a cozy lunch in a quiet environment. I’ll definitely go back.

I stopped by hoping that a bakery within spitting distance of my folks’ place would be a nice addition. I wasn’t thrilled with the experience.
The service was helpful. The selection was pretty paltry. I grabbed some eclairs, a brownie, and a cookie after trying each of the corn pop flavors. Those corn pops had potential, but most of the exotic flavors like wasabi were lacking in taste aside from the taste of sugar.
Which was kind of the story for everything else, as it turned out: plenty of sugar in display, but no real attention to flavor or any sign of nuance. I wanted this place to be better, but between the slim selection and the prices, I doubt I’ll be back.

This place is so close to my house and never noticed it until I got my daily email from LivingSocial and they had a deal!
Of course I bought it! It was over 50% off!
After I bought the deal and it was ready to go, I’ve been meaning to drop by this place for a while but somehow just didn’t get to it till today because I forgot to get the garbage men something for Christmas and Monday morning would be the only time I could give them something before the holidays.
So I go in and the first thing I notice is how empty it is. It is very bare and I would have left if it weren’t for the coupon. I look around for their gift items and the selection is slim but doable. They had cookies, corn pops, and meringues. They had some corn pops to sample and it wasn’t bad. It’s a little too sweet for my taste but I’m not much of a sweet tooth except maybe when it comes to cakes.
I looked around and saw some of the individual stuff they were selling but none of them looked appetizing enough to give me the desire to buy one.
I grabbed two cookies and two corn puffs and checked out. I ended up paying about $ 1.50 more. If I had to pay full price… eh I don’t know. I rather then go with a national brand and buy Hickory Farms or something.
This place has a lot of potential because it is in a good area that is developing and they had some good business around them that would be easy to attract customers. They just need to do something about the décor, more variety and get rid of those hair ties. You’re a café — not a beauty store for kids. It needs to class up and have a more focused direction.
I don’t see this place staying in business for much longer just the way they are. Most likely people will go across the street to Café Rio instead… like I did after I bought the cookies.

Living down in the south end of the SL valley there really is not a local café or bakery where you can stop by and have a fresh pastry and drink. I’ve used this café to cater desserts for different events and it has always been a hit.
My favorites here are the chocolate eclairs, lemon curd cakes and the french macaroons. The service has always been friendly and the café looks very clean and neat. I will be referring more people here to have desserts made for the upcoming holidays.
