Stopped here for a bite to eat aftet a snowy hike on Mt. Hood. The tamale factory is located inside of a converted gas station that used to be a taco del mar. The inside is minimalist, and clean with bar style seating inside, and tables outside. We had the chicken, and jalepeno and cheese tamales, they were spiced well, warm, and tasty, especially with the salsa. Also tried a seasonal Chipotle bbq. Best bbq tamale ever! Excellent place to stop when you have come down from a day on the mountain and you’re hungry. The tamales are yummy!

This place was decent, but nothing amazing. They were out of the green salsa that it said came with the pork tamale, and what they had was not the same. I enjoyed it well enough, but nothing special.

Out of every type of tamale except for vegetarian. When we walked in they didn’t even greet us. When we spoke up to order the young lady didn’t say, «how can I help you? «instead she interrupted me and said, «We are sold put of everything except the vegetarian kind, how many would you like?» None, thank you.

I had driven by this place so many times on my way back to Portland from Mt. Hood, and never stopped. Today, my partner and I were on our way up to the mountain, and hadn’t eaten anything yet. We decided today was the day! The place is in an old service station, and has some character. They had at least 3 meat choices, I had the pork in green sauce, and three vegetarian options as well. Pretty sure the staff is family, and the young woman helping us was really nice. Partner had the jalapeño and cheese, and devoured them. The masa was nice and fluffy, and very flavorful and the filling-to-masa ratio was good. I will definitely be back! Great food to take to go, too, as they would be an awesome mid-hike snack! Oh yeah, ask for the house made hot sauce; it’s pretty tasty.

Yum! My family got subway across the street and I bought 2 tamales. They recommend pork and chicken. Then my family ate my tamale lunch instead of their lame sandwiches.

The Tamales were terrible. Very little meat with very little flavor. I tried the chicken, pork and beef. To top it off the green salsa was moldy. Not sure how you could give this place even 3 stars. Dodge this place.

Clean little establishment in downtown Sandy. The masa, rice, and beans were very tasty. The meat fillings were a bit skimpy, but had a good taste.

Yuck! Worst tamales I’ve ever had. I would give zero stars if I could. Big thick roll of dry flavorless masa with just a pathetic smidgeon of meat in the middle. Geeze how hard is it to add a little chicken stock and lard into your masa to make it at least a little moist and palatable? And the amount of pork inside was insulting. Good for profit, bad for business. I have and will continue to tell everyone I know not to stop here only to be disappointed. Shame on you for trying to pass such a horrible version of a Mexican classic

Great homemade tamales, I love the cheese and bean and the corn and jalapeño are my favorite, and they are huge, I can barely eat 3

Got their special for New Year’s Eve, and the whole experience was not great. First of all, I confirmed their closing time on both their website and Facebook page before ordering our tamales; the closing time was right before I needed to pick my son up from basketball, so would work out well. I then placed our order. About 20 minutes later, I start getting calls on my phone asking, when could we please pick up our order, because they want to close early. Ummm… what? If you’re official enough to have a website, FB page, etc, you need to stand by your word. So… i head into town to quickly pick up my tamales; upon getting them, I asked, Is my salsa in here?(The promised reward for ordering on New Years). Sorry, no salsa left, don’t know how to help you. When I complained on their FB page, they said they would be glad to «reward» me with an upgrade on my next meal, once I pay for six tamales. So let me get this straight, if I make another purchase, after inconveniencing me, you will THEN upgrade me a salsa??? Plus, the tamales we got that night were obviously the last of batch; WAY too much masa compared to filling. It was our kids’ first time trying tamales, and they were NOT impressed, which was sad.

Where’s the beef or pork or any filling, for that matter. We were tired of Xmas leftovers and decided to try this place. Had issues with the phone number not working. Finally got a combo of every tamale. Wrapped I noted how large they were. Opened one and all looked fine until… I cut into one first which was the pork, I swear there was the smallest piece of pork surrounded by masa. I cut into the next variety basically the same, virtually only a whisper of filling. I have included a pic of the jalapeño and chicken tamale, which had MORE filling than most of the others. If you like masa this may be your place. Sorry we won’t be back.

Definitely worth the stop. Found this place on Unilocal and decided to give it a try. They only serve tamales but they are homemade and authentic. It’s a small old service station on the corner which is the perfect place to eat. I tried the chicken and pork but they offer several varieties of vegetarian tamales as well.

Bad ass tamales! Cheap! Fast! They will even walk them across the street to the Beer Den so you can enjoy some suds and tamales

I got different ones all were good, it is hard to find good tamales and they will not disappoint, they were soft and just right. I liked the beef ones best so far; I will have to try them all.

So excited when this restaurant came to Sandy, but I have experienced 3 times when I have dropped in or called in an order, and they have not been ready to serve or are out of a product. If you still have 1 ½ hours before closing, you should still make sure you have rice available. Made me cancel my whole order and move on. Sorry~!!

Good fast food! $ 15 for 6 tamales, rice, beans and 4 drinks is a great deal! The just opened and just ram out of beef and pork tamales. We had the chicken and jalapeño and cheese tamales, both were excellent. We will be back to try beef and pork. Good food super fast and cheap! Really nice people working there
