The Original Christo’s

We came here for lunch and were thrilled with how wonderful the food and service were. We decided to do an appetizer lunch consisting of Greek nachos, Firecracker Fried Cheese Balls, and the Smoked White Bean & Garlic dip. Boy was it delicious. I love the fact that you can get Greek food, Italian pizzas and pastas, classic American favorites, and a wide range of desserts (made fresh)…whatever you’re in the mood for, they have it. And the inside is so nicely decorated, you feel like you’re in a old fashioned diner but with modern flare. I try to make a habit of coming to Christo’s every week and trying a different menu item. If you’re visiting downtown Sanford then a visit to Christo’s is definitely worth the trip!

I had the bucatini with meatballs delivered to my home. The meatballs were amazingly good, the pasta was tender but not over cooked, and the sauce was so good with a hint of a spicy aftertaste. I also adore the Greek nachos. Yum!

We accidentally found this dining spot and oh what a nice surprise. They have a variety of menu offerings from pizza, wings, pasta, ribs, steak and seafood. I had the fried shrimp which was awesome as it came with a very delicious sweet creamy Thai sauce. Everyone in my party really enjoyed their selection. This may sound strange but they have the best ketchup in town… it must be home made. The service was quick and the staff very friendly and accommodating. We were stuffed from the large portions but couldn’t leave without taking home a dessert… you won’t be able to pass them by. They are also strategically placed in the main walkway in and out the restaurant lol

The pizza was over cooked, and the dessert (red velvet cake) was dry and old! Can’t believe they served it to us! But. hey, the beer wasn’t flat!. Will not recommend this place for pizza.

Usually my go to place in Downtown Sanford. It was a gorgeous day and it didn’t seem over the top busy. We ordered and didn’t hear back from Lisa until maybe 45 minutes (maybe 30, it always seems longer.). She said there was a 20 top and our food would be out «soon».
Having been in the restaurant business, I would have communicated sooner and even brought a cheap appetizer. We were served. My Greek salad had no feta cheese. She did take it off of the bill which was nice.
Like I said normally my go to place. It had a bad day.
Maybe the system is bad. There were 3 servers taking care of outside and inside. Maybe it would be better to have one outside.

One of my best friends and I love to go here for lunch to catch up. Our favorite meal is the No Skimp Cracker Jack Shrimp, which is delicious. Their table bread is so good. It has pepperoni and cheese in the middle. It is served with marinara sauce. Their desserts are so dang good. It is hard to decide on the one! I’ve had their burgers and ribs. They are excellent, too. The service is great.

We weren’t aware they close so early on Sunday, so when we arrived at 2:30 I was afraid of bad service, but our experience was anything but. My chicken parmesan was so amazing and filling. My friend also enjoyed her sandwich. Our waitress forgot to bring out the pizza bread so she allowed us to pick out a free dessert. I wish I would’ve tried this place sooner!

I give this place 3 stars. It was good but not great. The food took long to come out, the order wasn’t taken correctly. We weren’t given as much information on the prices for substitution for upcharges. The steak burger was good but the coney chilli burger wasn’t. Very nice place, kind servers and my steak was good and that’s why I give it a 3 stars,

The food is delicious. I asked the waitress for suggestions since the menu is a bit much. We went for the gyro platter and the bacon cheeseburger. Both were perfect. We got dessert to do and they didn’t disappoint either. Casual environment that I see myself frequenting in the future

We had the Chef’s salad, that was made to my mother’s specifications and an Italian Stromboli. Both were excellent (although I am still searching for the perfect Stromboli from my childhood). Very large portions. The mimosas were lovely as well. Oh, and while waiting for our meal, we shared a chocolate cookie stuffed with a macaroon, it was delicious, (although chilled from the cooler, it would be even better at room temperature). The waitress was lovely (as my mother said, she was there when we needed her, she didn’t hover, but she wasn’t elusive), although it was a little slow going. The place was fairly busy (it was Sunday afternoon), plus the kitchen was busy with a large catering order. I would come again!

I am new in town and ate here yesterday for the first time. It was so good we came back again today. I had the chicken bomber and my grandma had the christo’s beef sandwich. Both were amazing. I highly recommend giving this place a try!

Stopped in here for Sunday brunch. Service was good (though I wish I hadn’t had to flag the server down for a second mimosa, haha) and the food came fairly quickly, although we did order a breakfast pizza and were told those take a bit longer to cook.
I had the Sweet Challah French Toast and while it was good, it was a bit overcooked/​slightly dry. Portions were huge, though, and prices decent. The mimosas were delicious though I would have preferred a bit more champagne and a bit less OJ. The restaurant itself could use a bit of a facelift, décor-​wise, but the location is great and I’d like to go back to try some of the items on the lunch menu.

When a pizza tastes even better than it smells you know it’s great pizza. We come all the way from downtown Orlando just for this fabulous gourmet pizza!

I have been a regular at Christos in Sanford since 2009 and I have nothing but great things to say about this place. The food is always outstanding and the people there are really nice. I estimate that I go there 1 – 2 times a month.
Some of my favorite dishes there are the firecracker chicken, the crackerjack shrimp and the pasta dishes which they have many to choose from.

Nice place, good food, seems like there’s always someone inside eating, but never overly busy like another restaurant down the street.
If you have a sweet tooth, they have of a big variety of cookies, cake, and pies.

After eating in this restaurant weekly since it’s conception in downtown Sanford — my family can no longer recommend it. I have taken some time before posting this review, in order to keep it as professional as possible. I have a teenage daughter who has been ordering the same exact thing off the menu here for years. So much so, that one of our regular servers there didn’t even need to take her order. She always knew without asking — One day, after eating there with her friends, my daughter called me stating that the woman serving her was different this time, and that she was very rude to my daughter after letting her know that the order she placed came out incorrect. I sort of blew it off and told her not to worry about it, thinking it was teenage over dramatization.
Fast forward to a few weeks later — we had company who wanted to go out to eat for lunch. Naturally, we recommended Christo’s because we ate there all the time. After realizing that the same server was helping us that was helping my daughter the day she reported unfair treatment, my daughter got a little nervous. I told her not to worry because surely the lady wasn’t going to remember her out of the other hundreds of people she serves every day. Low and behold the food came out and the same exact mistake happened. My daughter ordered boneless wings and the server brings us out one’s with bones. This time my daughter is afraid to say anything, so I assure her that it will be ok and that the adults will handle it. We call the server over to politely let her know that there was a mistake with the order; the wings should be boneless– she takes them away. A few minutes later a white haired man with glasses, who I am assuming is management or the owner because he is always there, comes to our table. He says, «we are making your daughter a new order of wings, but we are going to charge you for both meals. «When my aunt replied in disbelief with an «excuse me?» to the man. He said, «this has happened with her before» pointing his finger to my daughter, «and it’s an expensive mistake.» I have to be honest and say that the rest is a complete blur. I definitely remember a feeling of rage and some not so nice language spewing from my mouth! This restaurant needs to seriously reconsider the way that it conducts its business. We will never go back, and we will continue to tell everyone we know about what happened there if they mention the restaurant to us! The root cause of the problem was the server. She’s the only one who made the mistake in all the years, and she did it more than once. An innocent enough mistake, but then they had the audacity to blame it on the patron?! Bad service! Thumbs way down! The good news is that they have saved our family $ 100 a week on eating out. We haven’t found another favorite that we like going to on a regular basis, but we still won’t go back.

After driving aimlessly in Oviedo and finding nothing that grabbed me, we just hopped on the 417 and headed up to Sanford. After passing several things and not being able to make a decision we just parked the car and took a stroll through the historic section of town. We smelled something heavenly but were unable to find it and stumbled into The Original Christo’s. We have been here before but it has been a while so it was their night for a review. Lol
My wife went and sat on down outside and I headed inside to take a few pictures. I let the host know she sat down outside and needed a menu. After taking my pictures I headed outside to join her and saw she had silverware and no menus. I headed back inside and asked the guy why he did not give my wife a menu and he said he did not see her so I just grabbed a menu and took it to her myself. I was a little annoyed since my wife was the only woman sitting by herself outside.
After about 15 minutes one of the servers finally came over to take our drink order. I asked what was good and our server pushed the pizzas. Since I was not in the mood for pizza I elected to try the Ultimate Gyro. She did a good job of up selling the «Fat Boy Style» when I made it clear I was not thrilled with the potato chips offered with it. My wife was not very hungry and elected to just have a side salad. While waiting for our food the table next to us received their food and the Chicago Beef and it looked so good I asked the guy to take a picture. He smiled and turned the plate. Next trip I will have to try it because he raved about it after eating every bite of it!
Our drinks and food were brought to us quite fast which was surprising but that is when the compliments for the service end but I will get to that in a minute. I looked at my wife’s salad and there was nothing special about it so $ 4.59 is a bit much for a basic salad with croutons in my opinion. My plate however looked fantastic. The fried cheese ball was off the flippin chain! The onion ring was also very tasty. The coleslaw was pretty good but I would not jump for joy over it and the potato salad was a bit on the bland side and needed a touch of salt. The Gyro was the shining star and I have nothing bad to say at all about it. It had just the right amount of meat, lettuce, tomato and tzatziki sauce. The kalamata olives and pepperoncini rings were a nice touch.
During the time we ate, my server checked on the table once and we did not see her again for a while. The other server came over and asked if I wanted dessert and I was interested. She obviously had a taste for the cheesecake but the look on my face should have been a hint I was not in the mood for cheesecake. She recommended I go look at the pastry case and walked away. 15 minutes later my server came back to see if I made a decision but by this point I was over the long waits to see the server and just asked for my check.
A cup of hot tea, glass of iced tea, side salad and Ultimate Gyro with Fat boy side was $ 22.05 plus tip.
Would I come back is the question to ask and the answer is yes but hopefully Sarah will remember to check on her table more frequently next time… Hint Hint…

The Greek nachos were the best, hard to eat though.

The calzone was 50% cheese, 25% gyro & 25% filling

The person who was cooking came out & sat with a friend to talk, that wasn’t the issue. Issue was how loud they were.

Continuing my tour of Sanford’s lunch restaurants, today was a stop in The Original Christo’s. I had no idea there were copies, but I assume that like this one, they are burgers and pizza and sandwich places.
After reading the reviews, I chose the meatball hoagie. A good choice, the bread roll was nicely toasted with enough meatballs that every bite had some and a ton of melted cheese. Yum. The chips and pickle were forgettable, but that’s not why we’re here.
Man, those desserts looked great but I had to say «no, thanks.»
Service was good. You’ll want to sit outside if it’s a nice day!

This little restaurant is a cute one. They are in the small town of Sanford, FL. It’s a neat few block town.
Christop’s has some good sandwiches, burgers, and fried. We went for lunch and I ate the Firecracker cheeseburger. It had a giant onion ring on it with a mini cheese ball inside with their firecracker sauce on it. The sauce reminded me is thousand island dressing. It did not have any spice if you thought the word «fire» may represent. The chips and pickle were decent. I had a giant glass of sweet tea. Delish!
My coworker had a chili dog and salad. He said the dog was ok.
The service was slow. And they we not
That busy. They need to add more wait staff to improve this.
I will probably return in a few months when I’m back down here for business.
