You’ll find the Sweet Spot right before you get to the Wet Spot… which is accurate directions for how to find this bakery. It’s also one door down from Park Ave Popcorn Shoppe, but that’s doesn’t make me giggle. When I was growing up our local bakery had walls full of baked goods. Rolls, baguettes, slicing loafs, cookies, pies, cakes, tarts, pastries… you name it. This type of bakery no longer exists. Now if you can bake a cake you can open a bakery. I have a Kitchen-aid, apparently I’m a baker. The Sweet Spot is one of these new fangled bakeries that have 6 things in their case. I’ve been there 3 times now and they seem to really like their whipped cream. Puffed pastry, whipped cream, pâté choux, and cheesecake, that’s all the case has. I love these things too but no one is driving miles out of the way for amazing puff pastry. They make pretty desserts, but pretty only gets you so far. Their website lists other things on their menu but no way of knowing when to find these items. I’d really like to see them use social media to alert their fans. I’d also like to see a label and price on the items in the case. I’m glad downtown Sanford has a bakery, but I wouldn’t cry if a more amazing bakery moved into the Spot. Skip the mint cheesecake, go for the baklava, unless you love whipped cream. then go crazy.

Terrible, awful parking situation-they have street parking. I cannot, for the life of me, parallel park, and even if I could, all of the spaces near them are taken by patrons of nearby bars. Boo for me. That being said. their treats are such a treat! Giant, fluffy cream puffs. Ginormous, cake pops. Barely able to hold their own weight on their big sticks– moist inside, covered with frosting and soo delish. Also had a blueberry. cheese danish-y type awesome delight that was to die for. Loved that one. Owner/baker Mike is really kind, so if I can ever find a parking spot again, I will be sure to pay him another visit!

Stop in for some sweets! We occasionally pick up a couple of chocolate peanut butter fudge brownies. Today we bought a variety of desserts for our family Christmas gathering. They also do custom creations — cakes for all occasions.

I was walking through downtown Sanford and came upon a bunch of kids eating amazing-looking éclairs and Neapolitans. It was my mission to seek out the shop that sold these delicious-looking treats. They were from The Sweet Spot Bakery! OMG, I have always imagined what food in Heaven would taste like — and this is it! This is an adorable 2-month-old bakery business in downtown Sanford. The 2 people running it are charming and welcoming! I didn’t go for the éclair because a little delight in the shape of a Christmas tree caught my eye(it was an edible work of art!). The lady explained what it was and soon it was mine; I couldn’t hand over the cash quick enough. I sat down and dug in. I can honestly say, this was probably the most delicious dessert I have ever eaten. It had butter cream icing on top of chocolate cake. The cake was moist and delicious; and the butter cream was indescribably delicious. I had to go back into the shop and tell them how much I enjoyed it. My friend had a Christmas tree in all chocolate and hers was equally delicious. If you find yourself anywhere near downtown Sanford, stop in here and treat yourself. They also make full cakes, pies and other desserts. Their motto is: «You name it, we bake it.» A lady came in while I was there and needed a birthday cake for that night. The owners said sure, they would have it ready by that evening! Such great service for a new business. Before I leave Sanford on Saturday, I am going back for another dessert. I love it!
