Bonny did my hair for my wedding recently and I just wanted a beachy laid back style. My hair was perfect!

The only problem I have with this salon is that it’s in Sanford Maine, and I live in Massachusetts! I was in Ogunquit for the weekend and decided to try a new place since I desperately needed to get my hair done. I didn’t even think I would get an appointment for that day on such short notice. Bonny was super nice on the phone and was so eager to make my hair red with lots of dimension that she kept her salon open until 7:00 even though she normally closes at 3:00. I loved how Bonny took the time to really examine my hair and mix exactly the right colors. She gave me great tips on keeping my hair healthy and was meticulous with the foils. She is also hilarious and such an interesting person to chat with! My hair came out perfect with different tones of auburn and strawberry blond. She even curled it and made it look really glamorous for a Saturday night! She did such a great job blending the color with my root color that I probably won’t need to get it done for a long time. She’s the kind of stylist that could be charging a ton working on Newbury Street but she is so reasonable. She is extremely passionate about hair and is a true professional. I will definitely be making another appointment next time I visit Ogunquit!

You know when you read a great review of something or someone, you’re afraid that it won’t be that way for you? Well, this time it worked! I never like trying new hairdressers anyway, but Bonny was great! She is lovely and doesn’t just know what she is doing, she knows how to craft your hair for you! I’m not from Maine, but hopefully will be able to schedule two visits each summer when I come through this area. Thank you Bonny!

«Oh, I get my hair cut at a salon out of state.» Yes, this is now what I say. Glamorous? Perhaps, until people found out that ‘out of state’ referred to Sanford, Maine. But let me tell you, I have had a long and tumultuous relationship with salons. I’ve tried different places all up and down the east coast, with different people and different techniques. I’ve had great hair styles that I’ve ruined by accidentally burning out chunks when I’ve been camping, and I’ve had terrible hair styles where my hair looked like the lovechild of Rod Stewart and David Bowie in Labyrinth. My sister(Jenn G. below) has been going to this salon for years. I had been almost a year without a haircut(responsible, I know), and she convinced me to go to Washington Square Salon. Bonny was very nice, and not at all what I expected. She took one look at me and quickly realized(as many do) that I do not pay much attention to my hair. It’s there, I like it to look nice, but I don’t really style it, and if it gets involved in acts of God(fire, hard water, twigs, etc) or other unfortunate scenarios, then I don’t particularly notice or care. Now, this is nothing new. The cycle is vicious — I eventually go in for a haircut and have the stylist scold and advise me on what I should be doing to keep my hair healthy by listing a strict morning regimen and pushing tons of products my way, saying what types of special ionic barrel brushes I need to get. Bonny did something I’ve never had a stylist do before. She was realistic. She asked me what problems I had with my hair. Mainly, split ends, no body, and veeeery tangled. Knowing that I wasn’t going to spend much time working on my hair, she gave me a step-by-step regimen on how to keep these things from happening by doing a simple demonstration on hair shampooing, conditioning, and leave-in conditioner technique that just included different hand movements. She even showed me how to get a relaxed but styled look using nothing but a blow dryer and brushing my fingers through my hair. It’s been a couple weeks, and my hair no longer snarles and tangles like it used to. No more tearing chunks of my hair out in the shower even after loading my hair up with conditioner and using a wide tooth comb. At first I was skeptical, but I now consider Bonny a hair ninja. She did inform me that I would have to get my hair cut more often to remove all of the damage I’ve done to it, whether from wear or neglect, and I plan on going back to her regularly. For a fair assessment, realistic care, and a bitchin style, go here and ask for Bonny. Once people start getting cuts from her, they don’t stop and it’s plain as to why — she’s not only a talented stylist, but attentive.

I am a naturally curly redhead, and I’ve had more than my fair share of terrible haircuts, with horrible results like permanent frizz, triangle-shaped cuts, and comments like, «oh my gosh, I didn’t realize it would curl up *that* much when it dried!» On the recommendation of a relative, I went to Washington Square Salon sometime when I was in high school. I think it was my senior year; I’m only sorry I didn’t discover them earlier, and saved myself all of the pain of previous bad experiences. I’ve been going to Bonny ever since that first cut. She is extremely nice, knowledgeable, listens to what I want, gives great suggestions, and *knows how to cut curly hair.* The salon is neat and clean, and the stylists are always friendly. I moved out of state six years ago, but always schedule hair appointments for when I come home, because I know that I will come out looking exactly like I want. Furthermore, a shampoo and cut was usually $ 25; last time I went it had gone up slightly, but most things are these days. My few forays into salons in other states(MA, NY) indicate that $ 30 is a deal. I would highly recommend this salon.
