Snobbish. I didn’t much care for the Sunset Grill. I must have had«attention k-mart shopper» tattooed on my forehead because the waiter’s attitude made me feel as if he thought I couldn’t afford the place. Speaking of the prices. It is on the expensive side. Meals were in the $ 35 to $ 50 range. Our check came to around $ 100 for 2 of us. Fine if you are planning on having a nice sit down meal on vacation. However neither one of us thought the food was worth the price tag. Overall the presentation of the food was nice, but just not that good. We each started with Lobster Bisque, which was good. Not the best I’ve had but still tastey. My entrée was coffee and pecan crusted pork. Apparently I am a woman of simple tastes because the combination was just not good together. Hubby had filet of beef. It has foie gras on it(nasty!). The side potatoes did not have a good flavor. Neither one of us wanted to eat them. Bottom line is this restaurant has 4 diamond pricing but 2 diamond food and 1 diamond service. We wouldn’t go back.

Everything was great! We tried the bruschetta, the seafood pasta and The sunset grouper. Great selection of wine. I really enjoyed that it was smaller and quieter, not as crowded as the other places on the island.

This is a hidden gem. Miguel was our server and the best. He was so friendly and his smile made the experience 10 times better. Sit outside to get a view of the water. The food was the best I have ever had.

Cute restaurant but not actually in beach and can’t really see the sunset. Grouper was great. Swordfish was marginal. Wine was about a 3x markup. Service was ok.

Delicious fresh seafood, great wine list, perfect key lime pie. The service is really wonderful, accommodating but not overbearing. We love this place and highly recommend it to anyone visiting beautiful Sanibel/Captiva islands.

Good solid breakfast with a varied menu. Some unusual dishes including key lime French toast and banana bread French toast actually using banana bread! I opted for the vegetarian omelette or garden omelette and the veggies were super fresh. Hashbrowns cooked the right way and not overly season which is always a nice surprise. The waiter was attentive and places cute! I would go back.

First of all should be $$$. $ 38 for New York strip steak that wasn’t near as good as I’ve had in many other restaurants. Service ok — seemed a little arrogant about their restaurant. One of our party had a pork chop that was seasoned(??) with coffee — $ 32 and tasted bitter. They seemed very big on presentation.

I can only vouch for their lunch menu, but I wouldn’t say this place is anything special. The food was similar to any other place you can get in the area but I was extremely surprised by the price. 2 sandwiches and 2 cokes was $ 42 at lunch time! They charge $ 2.59 if you want to add fries to a meal, no side is included. Overall, if the price wasn’t so high it would be a standard place to eat at in the island. It is a little out of the way of the main drag as well…

Loving the pan seared fresh Grouper with incredible topping of coconut rum butter, macadamia nuts and mango salsa. But best of all was the roasted pineapple sauce on which the grouper and delicious whipped sweet potatoes were set — fantastic taste experience! The carrots and asparagus were great too as was the heirloom tomato and avocado salad. Atmosphere is nice, cozy and dressed up with linen. We enjoyed a lightning light show out the many windows. When the electricity flickered a bit, our very competent and friendly server, Stephen, assured us lights or no their wood burning grill guaranteed our dinner served… and we could eat by the solo light of our table’s candle. happy.

We ate breakfast and dinner here while staying nearby at the lobster cottage. Breakfast is fabulous with great pancake options. Dinner was excellent as well but quite a bit more money. I got the crab cakes and my wife got the chicken. Both were good. The sun sets in front of the deck and dining room. The desserts were excellent, molten chocolate cake and burnt cream. We also went to the Lazy Flamingo next door which is more of a bar atmosphere pub food and a bit more affordable. Sunset is more of a high end fine dining experience. I’ve posted photos of the dessert and dinner entrées.

Great quaint place, great food. Nice wine selection, they have bottles stacked everywhere. Food was cooked perfectly. Only complaint, wish menu was a little more to offer but that’s me. I didn’t venture to go off menu. Both times we visited for breakfast and had excellent service. Poached eggs on my eggs Benedict were wonderfully oozy goodness when I cut through. Hollandaise good, could have a little more zing with lemon. Husband has standard scrambled with bacon and toast. Eggs fluffy, bacon crispy and hashbrowns are the best cooked around. Prices comparable to other resteraunt son the island but you get your monies worth. Overall a place to go!

small casual place across the road from the beach. Right in front is a great place to watch the sunset. we stopped between lunch and breakfast. I had breakfast and my hubby got the lobster roll. He thought the lobster was ok. obviously not as good as Maine but good. I got the keylime French toast. good.

A wonderful place to eat and watch the sunset. The dinners were wonderful. We had pork tenderloin, crab cakes and mahi mahi. All meals were excellent. Did you know that they will accept any Kiwanis Diners Delight coupon so you can save $ 20 every time you go until December 17th.

All I can say is wow! So impressed with this restaurant! Every dish was beautifully seasoned and presented, and wonderful down to earth vibe and service. A true gem, especially in comparison to the other options around the island which are mostly subpar and tacky. We went for my mom’s birthday and had a wonderful time, and they even decorated her plate beautifully and changed our starches when we asked for the homemade pasta to substitute for the mashed potatoes. So delicious start to finish. The mussels appetizer was particularly exceptional!

Just returned from a 5 day trip to Captiva. My wife and I decided to stop in to Sunset Grill one evening early in our trip and were very happy we did so. So much so, that we ended up eating dinner there twice and breakfast once. Dinners: We both enjoyed sharing the lobster bisque as our starter on both occasions. The warm bread fresh from the oven was heavenly. For our first night, my wife had the«sunset Mahi Mahi» which was accompanied by sweet mashed potatoes, asparagus and carrots. I chose the«Heart Healthy Entrée»(sword fish) which was accompanied by the same veggies and a tomato quinoa. The fish was excellent, perfectly cooked and accompanied sides were perfect. Presentation was very nice and you can tell that the chef puts allot in to her meals. On our second visit, we both opted for the lobster crab cakes. This was a gamble since we’re both from Maryland and have a distinct idea of what a crabcake should be. The chef did not disappoint! The cakes were unique, tasty and won our approval. Yes, some filling was used, but sparingly and as it should be. Dessert: All the desserts are homemade. We had the two variations of crème brûlée(vanilla and sea salt). In addition, we tried a no flour chocolate cake with peanut butter(can’t remember formal name) and a warm chocolate dish made from croissants. All we can say is WOW! Be warned: this is not a large chain restaurant. You might have to wait a bit if it’s busy or they might be out of certain dishes. However, I’ll trade this fresh and creative approach over pulling something from the freezer and dropping it in a deep fryer. If you’re looking for cheap bar food, this is not the place for you. We loved the place so much we stopped for breakfast on our way off the island and they did not disappoint. Fresh egg omelets, great hashbrowns and fresh coffee. All with a smile! We will be back to the area and when we do get back, Sunset will be our«must do» list. All staff was professional, friendly and willing to share their opinion on various meals. We look forward to coming back.

Doesn’t look like much from outside but once you walk in you realize what a true gem this place is. We came in a pretty large group so we ordered pretty much everything on their menu. Everything was amazing, everything was fresh and made in-house that includes their pasta! If you are in town you should definitely try this place out. And our server Carlos was awesome!

Very tasty and well prepaid eats. Had salmon and great! Tasted super, and best cooked veggies(carrots and asparagus). Spouse had lamb and was the same good. Waiter was very good and did everything well. Gotta look at the dollar chart. Entrees were $ 38 to $ 48, and all the salads, soups, and other the preliminary offers were over $ 11. Had lobster bisque, great again. Two dollars on Unilocal usually mean lower prices to me. I would go back, but gotta win lottery first. .

Super accommodating folks. Here with an toddler and an infant and they were very kind about moving things around. The outside dining is nice but it is by the road and the ocean is across the parking lot so not exactly quiet. But the spot is lovely and friendly. They have a nice wine list as well and it is so great when you get chilled glasses as well. We tried the sunset snapper with the gulf lobster tail. The snapper was delicious. Well cooked with a nice macadamia coating. The pilaf was well fluffed and not over Doner. The baby carrots were well done. The mango was a nice complement. Well done. Delicious and a local fish. We also tried the 14 day wet aged and 21 day dry aged rib eye steak. Delicious and super flavorful. Went so well with the big cab And the avocado salad was also well done. Nicely executed with fresh ingredients. The wine list isn’t extensive but well chosen. The domaine Carneros champagne was dry and lovely. We had a 2010 silver oaks. A nice bottle. So as someone else said a casual atmosphere with fine dining. And kid friendly too!
