Food is not bad but the credit card charge bites big time. Not Happy about being charged to use my card to pay for my food.

Great food but the service here on weekends is the worst. Full restaurant and one server. Not enough salsa containers to go around so you don’t get chips and salsa.
To go orders on a weekend is the way to go. Never again!

My husband and I were on our way to San Diego. We decided to get off the fwy and find somewhere to eat. Found this place and decided to give it a try. From the outside it doesn’t look like much. They have plenty of seating once inside. The have hand made tortillas. The guacamole was freshly made and very tasty. Ordered the breaded shrimp. Very good. It’s a huge plate. 7 shrimp, rice, beans salad and fries. Wow!.. Friendly service.

Had To Update MyReview Cause New Owners Have Taken Over This Location, And I Have To Say That The Food Is A lot Better Now, From The Tacos, To Burritos, To The Nachos, And The Customer Service Is Really Good As Well Always Polite And Helpful and They Are Always Quick With The Food And It’s Always Fresh, Definitely Worth Checking Out If Your In The Area.

This place is definitely more substance vs. flash. Come for the good food not the surroundings!

It’s on W 17^th St and N Durant St in Santa Ana.
It’s in a big shopping center — «Auto Zone» at the right end side of the corner. I got to pick some stuff up at «Auto Zone» and Unilocal showed me about the place.
Inside is kinda skinny and long — the counter kitchen right by the entrance, the register is right next to the kitchen, the dinning area is on the left side of the register. The place is kinda dingy — especially dining area. Very outdated, simple yet miss/​match decors (see my pictures), with TV. The staff were very friendly. They take credit cards! Plenty of parking.
Menu: Various. They also have family/​party size platters.
Drinks: Sodas from Mexico (Coke etc.) and beers (bottles)

Huevos rancheros: Very plain — egg (your choice of style), a little sauteed vegetables, very ordinary refried beans and rice. NOTHING wowed me — the taste and the very little portion. After I tried the amazing one at «Rodeo Café» in Norco, this ain’t cut for me. Meh.
Tostada with ground beef: Very SMALL. For $ 5, I expect more. Some lettuce, tomato, a little drizzle of sour cream, some seasoned ground beef (not spicy at all. Just so so) on the crispy tortilla. I was still hungry after it. Meh.

I think the price here is on a bit higher side — even if they were an ordinary very small pop & mom shop. The portion was very small — even for me.
Maybe it’s better to dine-​in since it’s «endless chips»… (according to the other review).
After lots of good reviews, this place was very disappointing.

To start… chips, salsa, and guacamole could totally tell freshly homemade! Ordered two fish tacos… excellent! But, based on 1^st impression, it felt true. Meaning it kept its culture and taste in the set up and food. Some places sacrifice these things to attract different customers, but they stay true to their Product. Owner said they have been around for 30 years… and that takes A LOT! Anyhow, those were my first impressions, and would DEFINITELY come again

They make hand made tortillas, freshly squeezed orange juice, endless chips that have a zesty flavor…
I love the service our waiter was very attentive. The serving sizes are huge. I will definitely come back soon!

LOVE their authentic Mexican food! This place may not look much from the outside but looks can be deceiving! There food is delicious, affordable, large portions and awesome breakfast specials Mon-​Fri from 8am-​11am $ 2.99. The customer service is EXCELLENT, always greeted & feel like family whenever we go there.

if you are looking for really good carnitas try going to place called «la zaragosa» now this place has good carnitas !!! i have eaten here and i wish i would have gone to taco bell instead! !! this place is a disgrace to the name sahuayo!!! cambiem su nombre por es una verguensa para la gente de sahuayo mich o mejoren sus recetas gracias!

They now take credit cards. Great enchiladas, beans and rice. Friendly staff.
Yeah, the t.v. was loud. So what. I ordered water and was given bottled water. What, no refills?
I’ll eat here again. And I did. Still good. Still friendly.

Great food and great prices! I love their chile verde burrito and dinner — it can be kinda spicy sometimes but still a great plate. There is a LINE on weekends to get their menudo — as there should be because it’s that good! If i would work close by this would be my local place to grab a bite during lunch. Keep it up Sahuayo!

Dude… I go here for lunch a lot, it’s convenient. First… they only take cash so don’t show up unless you have some. Second… this place is legit Mexican food in a grimy place. No air conditioning so if it’s a hot day probably not the best place, but the food rocks! It’s a total whole in the wall but their specials are a great deal. For example, taco, enchilada, rice, beans & drink for $ 5.99. The beans and rice are super good. I’ve tried all their meats, carnitas, asada, lengua, chicken and they are all good. Someone ordered the colossal burrito once and it was INSANE! Try the sopes… they’re tasty. This place is not for bougie foodies… it’s for people who care about the food authenticity not the place. Great for lunch… never been for dinner. Waiters are great.
