Around 3−4PM on most days(including weekends), this little taco truck rolls into the Grovemont Square Plaza located on the corner of Grovemont Street and North Grand Avenue in Santa Ana by the 22 Freeway. From my window, I see it come in at the perfect time right after lunch. My coworkers and I always joke that if it had come an hour or two earlier, it would be a great spot to try for lunch in this area. However, because it arrives so late in the afternoon I hardly have the opportunity to try it. I took the dive this past week and walked over to grab a quick Asada Burrito($ 5.50). It was not very quick at all. They weren’t too busy, but it still took around 10+ minutes to prepare my order. On the plus side, the burrito I ordered was pretty good and had a fair amount of asada beef. There is also a small salsa bar that has a Red Smokey Salsa, a Green Salsa, and fresh cut onions. The red salsa is definitely the winner here since it is the spiciest of the bunch. This place is so convenient in that it is so close to my work. However, I would still probably opt to drive the short distance down the street for Tacos Manuel.

Once you try the Campechano tacos you’ll never look back. WOW! Was a little sketched out when we happened upon the El Taquero truck but man did we hit the jackpot Meat is seasoned exceptionally well, ingredients are fresh and flavorful. Tried three different types of tacos but the Campechano taco was my favorite. Three meats make up the Campechano taco: carne asada, Al pastor, carnitas Campechano: 5 stars Al Pastor: 4 stars Asada: 4 stars

Grandma is serving up some good moist flavorful tamales. I only tried the pork variety, I had them just the way they are. Has the perfect spiciness and the pork is not dry top the chew. Happened to spot it out of the corner of my eye.

7:00AM on a 55-degree Saturday and you can see the faithful are flocking for the tamales to start their day. This is one of those hidden little gems you drive by every day and feel only the brave would eat from the truck but while this truck may not be fancy the food really is wonderful.
