This is my wifes favorite place for brunch. Not your typical Americanized Mexican food very authentic. Very spice and heavy on pork.

Food is ok. I came with the impression of an amazing buffet line up I read on reviews. There was no fish soup, no BBQ ribs, no pancakes, no omelette station. Menudo was cold. It has the potential of been a great brunch buffet but they have to have consistency.

The food tasted home made really good and live music at 1130am on a Sunday, good vibes, I’m definitely coming back.

Verrrry goooooood family Mexican food. Enjoyed the tacos… taquitos…and rice:). Def will come back when in the area. If you not into spicy… Make sure you say no spicy beans and salsa or your in for heat.

Also known as Mariscos Sahuayo. I suspect a name change, because all the previous Unilocal reviews describe this restaurant perfectly. The menu is smattered with many options. It’s primarily a seafood restaurant. I tried a combination plate and saw nothing special about the food. Although it wasn’t bad by any means, I don’t have a compelling reason to return. There’s a stage where you can most likely listen to loud, echoey music on the weekends.

Pretty good food until… it got shut down for rodent infestation and cockroach infestation on April 18, 2013. It was shut down by the Food Inspector of OC, look it up on the internet. Here is the link incase it gets deleted:

Sunday morning(11am) breakfast buffet was ultra yummy. If you want to take a trip to Mexico without all the dangers lurking across the border. Venture on over to Los Compadres. Everyone was right, seating is quick, friendly, with chips and salsa and a drink. I liked the buffet. Its true, the price is right: I paid $ 8.99 + $ 1.50 for soda. I was there for the cheese enchiladas, something else with big tender chunks of beef in a spicy sauce(forgot what it was called), beans, rice, and guacamole. Fresh homemade tortillas. I was a happy camper. It was good! Went back x2. This is why I gave them 4 stars: The parking lot is super tiny, so plan on parking in the street or across the street. Music is loud: Mariachi/DJ and karaōke singers, but hey, you can pretend your in Mexico at least for one hour and enjoy. My mom(78yrs old) did, and so did everyone else in the restaurant including 1 family with children. The majority of the locals and patrons were ordering off the menu. Next time, I’m going to do that too. The food flying out of the kitchen looked amazing. Beautiful whole fish, big goblets of seafood in a tomato citrus juice/sauce. Bowls of some kind of seafood soup. The menu was in spanish with nice pictures of the food. This is not a place for babies, since the music is LOUD, you will never hear them crying. LOL

They are great in getting you seated fairly quickly and getting a drink to your table. The food is amazing! I have tried Camrones Costa Azul also the Enchiladas Camrones. The Enchiladas were prepared in a way I have never had them, regardless they were delicious! Only gave 4 stars because the parking on a busy night can be annoying.

My husband wanted to come here for brunch after reading all of the great reviews and was tempted since the menu items listed on other reviews were too good to be true and the price is so cheap. I read them and thought the same… CHECK the DATE of the REVIEWS! It’s fairly ghetto but the food was good. They have homemade tortillas and the service was good. Not a place to bring babies or small children since the music was sooooo loud! I think there were about 8 items to choose from, 2 soups, tiny salad station and yes they bring you chips but with a spicy avocado dip. DON’T BEFOOLEDBYTHEOLDPICS on here. I don’t remember exactly what all of the food items were but this is what I ate: Seasoned potatoes Enchiladas Chicken Verde Beans and Rice Flautas Meunudo We got there at about 11AM on a Sunday and there were no churros — no dessert in general and no omelette station, no french toast or pancakes as some other reviewer mentioned. I was a little disappointed about that since my daughter loves french toast. But she was fine with enchiladas, rice and beans. Very aunthic mexican place since we were the only non hispanic people there. I left singing a Spanish song even though I don’t speak Spanish. LOL!

Came on a saturday morning for their breakfast buffet. Not going to lie i was a bit hesitant when i initially walked in. i was greeted by the sweetest lady. I asked her if i could check out there buffet before i paid/served myself. i looked around the trays and everything smelled and looked delicious. I had there enchiladas, carne con chili verde, churros, flautas, beans and rice. What i loved about this place that it is actually authentic. Its not frozen or reheated. Interior is a bit tacky, but i love it reminds me of the actual dineries in mexico. !!!Horchata, Jamica, ect. drinks, Coke and Pepsi in the actual glass bottle.

I want to be nice. But it was not wonderful. Tried most everything and actually, it was very ordinary, plain. Didn’t even like the salsa. Even though the price was seductive. $ 7.95 for AYCE Sunday brunch. I love my Mexican restaurants in Corona better. Much richer flavors. The mariachi’s were great. And the churros were great. So I ate $ 7 worth of churros and called it even. Parking — you have to park on the residential streets surrounding, or walk across the street from the Superior Market parking lot.

All I can say is — outstanding. Very very good food. I totally recommend the barbacoa, the fried plantains, the menudo and everything else for that matter. The fajitas are just ok and also, it would be nice to have some chocolate for the churros. Oh, and on Sunday mornings they have mariachis — awesome atmosphere. I cannot wait to go there again.

I tried this place a year ago but forgot to leave a review. I wasn’t impressed with their buffet. The options were lacking and the quality was low. Go to Acapulco or El Torito if you want a good Mexican buffet.

The Sunday Brunch Buffet is awesome! This isn’t the classiest place but if you are looking to stuff yourself silly, this is the place to go. The bf and I got the Sunday Brunch Buffet with soft drinks for $ 19.50. The Buffet consists of a variety of items including: Rice Beans Cheese Enchiladas Plantains Beef Flautas Menudo Chile Verde Barbacoa Fajitas(chicken and potato style) Tacos Fruit Churros Flan and more! They also bring chips, salsa and tortillas to your table. After two plates of brunchy goodness, I was full. There is also a Mariachi Band that plays and if you are lucky enough, will serenade your table.

Hubs was craving an authentic version of the El Torito breakfast buffet and we found it… thanks to fellow Unilocalers! Enjoyed Sunday Brunch here for two, including soft drinks for under $ 20! Most items in the buffet are super authentic, the most notable: –Chile Verde(the bomb according to Luigi) –Great rice and beans –Sweet plantains –Beef taquitos rolled in flour tortillas –Made to order egg omelettes True to other reviews, this place is a little rough around the edges, but wouldn’t have it any other way. Our server reminded me of mama — asking us every 15 minutes if she could get us something else, did we like the food, and if we wanted more handmade tortillas ;)

Was feeling a bit under the weather and was craving for some menudo. Unilocal to the rescue. I had my doubts about finding a decent place near Irvine, but came across Los Compadres. I called them to see if they have menudo(many places only make it on the weekend) and they said they did. Roped some co-workers into going along for the ride. The parking lot is kind of small and the place looks, well pretty authentic. Some might say run down, but it had it’s own charm. The waitress was very nice and was pleasantly surprised to find lengua and cabeza as meat options. I had the Menudo(Large) and a Cheviche tostada. Portions were generous. The menudo could have been a little spicier, but that’s just me. It had a good amount of meat and hominy in it. The cheviche was good and limey. Not sure what type of fish it was. Had some real Coke(made with cane sugar and not HFCS) to top it off. My co-worker had the enchaladas and said the meat(chicken and pork) was a little bit dry but was ok with the sauce. Other co-worker had the tacos(assorted) and she liked them a lot. Overall, price was good, food was authentic and the staff was friendly. It did take a little time to get the food and check, so may not be the best place if you are on the clock for lunch. I would eat here again. Certainly one of the more authentic places I’ve found in the Irvine area.

«Oh my gosh! No way!» is what I exclaimed when I saw the price of their Sunday brunch buffet — $ 7 a person!(Yes, I said BUFFET, as in AYCE). You may shrug this off because you have a cheap breakfast spot too. But, not often do you also get high quality with low prices. When we sat down, a trio of bowls came with refried beans, salsa and pickled carrots/onion/jalapeño, a basket of chips and a plate of warm, homemade corn tortillas. We put our drink order in and it was off to fill our plates. Okay, let’s see if I can remember all the food: –Made-to-order Omelet Bar –Salad, fresh fruit and condiments(limes, sour cream, onion, etc.) –hard shell tacos with ground beef –cheese enchiladas –chicken fajitas and fajita style potatoes –chile verde and barbacoa –menudo and fish soup –bbq ribs –rice and beans(of course) –chicharon con nopales –churros, pancakes and french toast –sweet plantains –jello, flan and cake Oohh man, what a spread. I recommend the chile verde and barbacoa, both were so tender. All this food + entertainment from the mariachi makes this place a winner in my book. Not a fancy place but a good spot to bring a big family or group and say, «Hey, it’s on me everyone».
