Dynamite/dragon/hiro rolls are very well executed. Very clean and inviting hospitality is a plus.

Great spot for sushi in downtown area! Love it. I been looking for a sushi spot and I found it. Affordable and delicious. Nice people too.

See review by Diamond N. She basically nails it. I am torn because service was friendly, and their sushi chef was amicable, but the roll itself… definitely leaves something to be desired. I ordered a Salmon Bake Roll just to try them out since I had never been here before. I’m glad that’s all I ordered. Their idea of «Baked» is to use that damn butane lighter that leaves that awful lighter fluid taste. Whats even worse is that pieces of the rice were burned to black as well. The salmon was so fishy tasting, I even had a co-worker mention he still smelled salmon even after I brushed my teeth. Embarrassing. Plus the rice was mushy and not sticky. I don’t know what else to say that hasn’t already been said.

Meh. The food was just, meh… Filling, but unsatisfying, Ill stick to AYCE spots when I want cheap sushi(considering the menu items are not that cheap).

Man, I am so torn because the guy who served us is the kind of service I would enjoy. The rice is so MUSHY! Everything tasted like gush once it hits your mouth. Yeah there was flavor because of all their sauces, but really it just tasted mush. The jalapeño one was different because it was spicer than the other rolls, but other than that everything just tasted warm mushy and the same. Service here is amazing though, the guy who served us was super nice and friendly. Food came out pretty fast. Our utensils including our cups and sushi boat felt very sticky. It did not feel clean at all. The restaurant itself looks very shabby. Prices for the sushi is decent. Maybe a little too expensive for this quality sushi. However you can find groupon deals and happy hour from 5 – 6 which is 50% off special rolls. I would never come back here because I do not apperciate mushy gushy food. I would give them 0 stars, but service is a + so here is 1 star.

The sushi was so gross we didn’t even finish it. I would not recommend despite the low prices. We ordered at least five different rolls and all of them are filled with crab meat… Horrible.

I arrived here on Saturday at 12 noon. Plenty of parking. The place wasn’t too packed. I purchased a groupon for $ 14 for $ 20 worth. A few perks I should add: there’s a combo deal where you buy 2 special rolls(each roll is $ 9.99) and you get a free drink. If you buy 3 special rolls, then you get 2 drinks — drinks would be soda, fanta, sprite, etc. Service was great. They bring the food out on a boat platter. I ordered the dynamite roll. I’d give this 5⁄10. It’s just average. Nothing WOW and nothing bad. It’s just average for my opinion. I really disliked how the rice would fall apart when I’d grab the sushi with my chopsticks. I’m asian, so I’m pro with chopsticks — the rice just wasnt sticky enough so I didnt get to enjoy this as much. Also ordered the jalepeno roll. This was pretty darn good. I liked it. 7⁄10. Sweet and spicy. Lastly, I ordered the tempura roll(somewhere in the middle of the menu, and it costs $ 9.99). This was prob my favorite roll. Id give this 7.1÷10 Anyway, this place is closed on Sundays. I would only come back if I purchased more groupons. Wouldn’t come here and pay full price.

Awesome sushi spot. Generous portions and very friendly staff. The presentation is also beautiful. I eat with my eyes first and the place does not disappoint. I especially like some of their sauces and lime wedge garnish that adds a nice flavor to some tasty rolls. This is now on my quick list for a delicious bite for sure.

Arguably one of the best affordable sushi roll place you can go to. Johnny the owner here takes great pride in his restaurant and he is always doing his best to make the customers happy! First off, it’s located in a small lot next to the Santa Ana courthouse. The décor is nice and simple. A small sushi bar area in the front and 6 tables on the inside. They have all kinds of awesome deals here. Bento boxes for $ 10 and roll combos such as the 3 roll combo with 2 drinks for $ 27. Furthermore, most of the rolls here are $ 9 so it’s definitely a great value. I’ve gotten the golden tiger roll, the crunch rolls, the salmon rolls and the traditional California and spicy tuna rolls in the past. They were all pretty good. Obviously, you can’t compare this place to those Omakase places that charge $ 40 per person but for around 10 – 15 per person, this place is a great value. The rolls are all decent sizes and 3 rolls can easily fill up 2 people. When it comes to cheaper sushi, this place and orange are my two favorite. However, due to the Unilocal check in deals and the stamp cards, this place cannot be beat! Also, they serve your sushi on little wooden boats! Overall, my man Johnny knows what he is doing and he always takes care of his customers. If you’re in the mood for some rolls and not sashimi, I definitely recommend this place. One of the best bang for your buck sushi in the OC!

Food quality and customer service has declined since our first visit(which actually wasn’t that long ago). Food is a hit or miss. Sometimes it’s fishy, sometimes it’s not. Recently this location seems bothered by Groupon /Living Social deals which if this is the case they should just remove it from their sites(haven’t experienced this at the other location fyi). Their customer service is also slow so tell them everything you want(ie Sriracha) when you order. IDK…I’m starting to feel very indifferent about this place.

I enjoy coming in 2 – 3 times a month with my wife. There are times that we walk since it’s close to home. What i like about this place is the food and service. They make you feel like a long-time friend. They also take their time explaining what food they have to offer(they explain it to my wife). They don’t only offer sushi, they have a variety of foods to try like the noodle soup, bento box, as well as the chicken bowl. What’s interesting is that my wife is not a sushi fan, yet she enjoys the spicy tuna tempura roll. Come in during happy hour and you get 50% of the sushi rolls.

I moved here a month ago and I’m still learning my way around. We had to spend our Groupon bucks before they expired, so we decided to invest in Yo! Sushi. Since my first encounter with sushi in Orange County was above and beyond, I thought that this place with the stellar reviews would be even better. Sadly, it wasn’t. First of all, their service is truly excellent, which is why I’ve decided to give it an extra star more than it deserves. Our server was very friendly even though we arrived a 15 minutes before closing. She walked us through the menu and recommended a few rolls. We decided on the 3 rolls combination with a free drink and complimentary soup. Concerning the food, it was extremely disappointing. The soup was okay, but I didn’t really care for it. When the Sushi came, it looked good, but I wish it tasted as good as it looked. It was smothered in sauce and toppings I could barely taste the Sushi. I really could not tell any of the rolls apart; they had so much spicy mayo that they pretty much tasted all the same. The bit of tempura shrimp I did try, it was kind of hard like when it’s been fried and stayed out for a while. We were starving, so still ate all of it. Sadly, the sauce really didn’t settle well and I had a stomach ache for the rest of the night. Indeed, the food was nothing to rave about. I was so disappointed after reading how amazing the rolls were yet to me they were nothing special. Was the fish fresh? I couldn’t really tell. I couldn’t even distinguish the different rolls. Maybe if I’m ever in the area again I’ll give it another try and ask them to hold back on the sauce. The price is great, but I rather pay a bit more and get quality Sushi.

Great deals/prices & great customer service! Customer service * The two waitresses were both nice and smiling the whole time we were here. They were both very helpful. One helping out with recommendations and asking if we’re doing okay. The other helping us with the Unilocal deal. I would come again. Deals * Came in using the Unilocal deal($ 30 for $ 25). Boyfriend and I ordered the 4 special rolls + 2 drink combination. Satisfied both our appetites with about several pieces to spare. * Afterwards, they gave us coupons for next time. I would come again! :)

There are high and low points about this place. It’s located in one of those strip mall kind of areas and there was enough parking when me and my friend went. The high points here are that the price is very reasonable for what you get, the food is also tasty and good, but not in an authentic and traditional kind of way, more of a «here’s a bunch of different saucy creams that will cover up most of the taste so it’ll be tasty» kind of way. The lower points is that it doesn’t really feel like authentic Japanese food, and I’m mostly eating the food for the sauces, rather than the taste of the actual food item itself. If I’m on a day when the sauces don’t appeal to me, I’d easily find the food kind of disgusting. I ordered the lunch/dinner special that came with Tonkatsu(not very good) tempura(standard«Japanese» restaurant taste), salad, and California roll(see comment about the tempura). Overall it was tasty, but more of an express«Japanese» food taste, rather than something more traditional tasting. My friend ordered the same but with Spicy Chicken, which I found remarkably good but also mainly flavored and edible because of all the cream and sauce in it. If it wasn’t for the cream and sauce I’d probably pass on this place, but because of it and because the price is so reasonable, I’d probably come back.

I think this sushi joint just expanded because the old sign is still up above the expanded part. There is a small sushi bar on the right side of the restaurant with a TV in the corner so you don’t feel too bored eating alone. The chefs and wait staff are nice. There’s a check in deal, free roll with purchase of a drink! baked lobster roll: cali roll with a heaping of imitation crab on top and some little crawfish pieces. topped with a weirdly colored eel sauce. crunch roll: cali roll with a good amount of crunch. also same eel sauce on top. The rolls kinda of stuck to each other, but they were still edible. can’t beat free right? japanese ice green tea: refreshing, can opt for a side of sugar to sweeten it. Décor is clean, lots of japanese nicknacks. My only gripe was the eel sauce. Why was it a light brownish kinda translucent color? weird.

Probably the worst place you could get Japanese food if that’s what they call it. Agedashi tofu $ 5.95, it was served in a bowl of soup!!! seriously, no proper container for it? taste is bland. Iced green tea $ 2.95, served in a mason jar which is fine w me but iced green tea itself is just way too light, I don’t even want to know how they made it. The color just does not seem right to me. Chirashi bowl $ 16.45. It’s really not that cheap consider the quality. To my most overwhelmed experience, they served Chirashi Bowl on a boat. I guess they served everything including rolls on the boat !!! I stared at it like I was looking at a monster and the nice waitress asked if I need a plate. awwwwww, It looks like a giant boat but it’s just a thin layer of rice and topped with… nothing fresh. shrimp is horribly soggy. Few pieces of whatever low quality and not so fresh fish. A big scope of imitate crab salad is inedible. Octopus, chewy. Avocado, too ripped. Vegetables are cut in a very messy way and hey I also found pineapple in it. Rice is drained in the sesame oil. What is this they are serving? tropical fish boat? Interior is in a very strange theme with decorations here and there… sort clean. Slight hot because I don’t think AC works well here. The only good thing was the sweet friendly waitress. Stay away, you have been warned!!!

I came here a few months ago since I saw that this place had 5 stars and a lot of compliments on Unilocal.Well, I regret it. I ordered about 3 rolls to see how it was and would order more if they all tasted good. First, they all came out in the same plate. This was the first sushi place that I saw something like that. Plus, the sushi was all covered in mayo or eel sauce that you could barely taste the sushi anymore but the sauce. The sushi tastes mediocre which I wished I have paid a few more bucks to get decent sushi. This place also had a problem with flies since they opened the door of the dining area widely. The moment the a fly landed on my sushi, I stopped eating the whole thing, just paid and left. I would only recommend Yo Sushi if you’re close by and just want something cheap and quick. If you want real sushi, I’d recommend you to go somewhere else.
