We went to dinner here for the first time and were really pleased. Service was attentive and friendly. Most seating is outside on their patio. There are many heat lamps and they readily turned one on for us when asked. Everyone loved their food – from halibut specials to pasta to wood fired pizza! I especially liked the slices of roasted garlic in the capellini. Yum! Portion sizes were appropriate. We did not have any left overs. We will definitely be back again!

We came here randomly, unfamiliar with the area. The staff was friendly, and the outdoor patio was pretty. We ordered two pasta dishes, which were average, nothing exceptional. The portion sizes were unexpectedly small for the price. We left hungry after spending $ 60 which was inclusive of a $ 20 corking fee.

Called in prior to arriving and they said they closed at 10. Arrived at 9:45 and would not seat us. Rude and unprofessional staff.

Bottom line up front: This restaurant’s food and service deserves more stars. Knowledgable staff, delicious food specials, and surprisingly good dessert makes me want more… I almost ordered additional food to go after eating dinner. Insalata: Ordered the arugula, artichoke, pancetta salad. Wonderful flavored, great portion, and almost kind of sweet artichoke hearts. Main: Linguine alla’aragosta was wonderfully flavored. The lobster was nice and tender — you get half a lobster with the entrée. Portion was decent, enough for 2 people. Full flavored, great texture, good portion. Dolce: Strawberry cannoli. Wow — filling was not thick and heavy at all. Usually I can only have 1 bite of a cannoli. Here, they give you 2 cannolis but the crème is absolutely not thick and super sugary. Instead, it is light and almost yogurt texture-like. Service: Our waiter, Germán was extremely knowledgable about each dish. He was able to thoroughly tell us about each dish, down to the specific ingredients and how it would taste. Usually I don’t get servers that can describe each dish down to the level of detail that Germán could. You could tell her had a lot of passion for the food. Great!

Came here while on vacation. I found it after looking all over Unilocal and everyone seemed to enjoy it. The Food, the wine and the atmosphere were wonderful. We started with some Pinot and Burrata starter. The cheese was so fresh and fabulous!!! And the bread was also very tasty. I ordered the piccata which was cooked perfectly. I especially enjoyed the garlic in the dish… soo tasty. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

If your strolling down state street one of these days I highly recommend giving this place a try. The staff are incredibly friendly & the ambiance of the shaded outdoor patio is very relaxing. Sangria accompanies any dish perfectly & be sure to order the espresso covered gelato for dessert that was the piece de resistance that put my meal over the top. My ravioli was very tasty but I feel there dishes are slightly over priced but that is very typical of the area so no reason not to give Bucatini’s a try

Hours posted open till 9:30 pm At 8:58 I asked for a table. The manager said they were closed. But I could order something quick and chow down ‚ That doesn’t work for me to be expected to be done in 30 min. Why don’t they say last seating 8 pm Another Santa Barbara attitude. No I will never go back ! So I came back. Second Review * — - One Star Had no flavor Over cooked pasta So I came back a few days later. I used to come Jim and I’ve always loved their fettuccine Ragu so I ordered the fettuccine Ragu tonight along with a glass of Sauvignon Blanc the wine was very good however I came for the fettuccine the pasta was overcooked the Ragu was Bland and had no flavor and was watery. It lacked spices. Meat did not seem to be a quality meat. The wine was $ 11 fare and The fettuccine Ragu was $ 18 but had the meal had flavor I would’ve given it a great review however a note to the management taste your food you cannot charge prices and put out a meal that lacks flavor and overcooked again the owner the manager needs to be more hands-on if you’re going to rip off people like this taste your food I’m giving you a one star for this meal I will not give you another chance to flub up my dinner I hope you read this and I hope that you taste your food and make the corrective actions any owner or restaurant manager would do as it is your responsibility for the quality and consistency of a restaurant with these prices again you get a big one start

I am actually sad that I have to give lower stars to this restaurant since I love the location and their outdoor seating area. But honestly the stars are only because of the ambiance and location. My $ 18.00 spaghetti with meatballs tasted like can food, for what they charge the plate was very small and sloppy looking with small meatballs that did not taste anything like meat. The pizza was ok but not that great. We were not happy at all.

High prices and small servings would be ok if most dishes had actual flavor. My lasagna had no flavor and also the salmon or even the other pasta with ragu sauce. He only reason I gave it two stars was because the risotto with shrimp was actually good. If going out with family, it is better to skip this place unless everyone orders the risotto with shrimp. Even the curtesy bread was the hardest sourdough instead of a French styled bread.

The overall ambiance of the restaurant is by far the best part of dining here. The waitress was nice and the service was good, but the food was just okay and very overpriced for the portion sizes.

Walking down state street and my friend and I were craving Italian food. Displayed menu outside seemed good so we gave it a shot. We were not disappointed! Sat down at about 4:30pm with no wait. We elected to sit outside which was really nice as there were heaters throughout the outdoor dining area. We ordered the sausage, pepper flake, mushroom pizza. Really light and super tasty! The pizza is more thin crust which I like which we shared. We each ordered our own pasta dish. I recommend the Linguini Gamberi(w/shrimp) Very good. Shrimp cooked just right and the noodles are what did it for me. The noodles were cooked al dente which was perfect. Some Italian restaurants over cook the noodles. Overall, had a great dining experience here and would return next time I visit Santa Barbara. Check them out!

Entrance is confusing. Ambience is nice and quaint. Service was very good. Bread served was outstanding. Penne Fromaggi was sauceless? Pasta was cooked perfectly, but not sauce. Very dissapointing. The Lasagne was smaller portion @$ 22.00 and had no sign of meat. Would not return.

Lunch time on a weekday. Plenty of space. Excellent serivce. Asked for the waiters suggestion and he recommended the RAVIOLI al BURRO e SALVIA. Good choice. Portions are just right. I would definitely go back and explore the menu. PS: If you have read my comments you know I have a weird thing for bathrooms(that sounds terrible). This place had a clean small interestingly decorated bathroom which appeared clean.

Excellent customer service and ambience but very bland food. Had the special spaghetti with halibut and arugula. It had no taste whatsoever even after salt, pepper, chili flakes and Parmesan cheese. Husband had some seafood pasta and red sauce, same thing.

Review 19 I’ve been eating here since early 2000, call me a creature of habit or a lover of excellent service and food. Very few times I’ve been disappointed with my dish and with a simple comment; the kitchen fixes the problem. Granted this is why I don’t write bad reviews! He who speaks will be heard: D I can recommend so many dishes, I prefer the seafood pastas and pizzas or any salmon dish. The wine selection varies every time I visit, they’ll always let you sample from the list. The pasta is always perfect, dishes seasoned just right. If you just strolled the strip sit inside and relax, the décor is very welcoming and Italian. Outside patio seating is also a great choice, they have heaters so it’s great for those cool evenings. Big kudos to the team for always delivering more than one would expect. Plan B.

The scene: State Street. Busy, people walking by. I am at an outdoor patio with heatlamps on a beautiful night. The feeling: awesome. SoCal meets Italy meets Mexico, well, the many of the servers are not Italian. Still, I buy it. The order: draft of Peroni, and a Meat Lasagne($ 18, aka«Lasagne alla Bolognese») was top 5 of all time(mine, is the best). The summary: will be glad to come back here anytime!

Bucatini’s is conveniently located on the southwest side of the infamous State St. There’s a cute outdoor seating area in which I highly recommend eating at. You get a front row to people watch and it really makes your dinner that much better. There is a small indoor eating area, but it’s much more fun to sit outside. Our server was pretty nice. Like anywhere else she gave her recommendations on what to order and what not to order, which was nice– she wasn’t bias on just a few things, so this was very appreciated. Please refer to the photos posted, but the best dish is the Risotto! It was perfectly cooked and safe to say that it’s the best risotto I have ever had! After dinner if you have room, they have a yummy homemade tiramisu and different floors of gelato. Enjoy!

I recommend choosing this place over Palazzio if you’re looking for Italian food on State St. Their wait staff is friendly, respectful and attentive. Their restaurant is clean and the interior is cozy. The bread that they started us off with was slightly cold, tough and bland. However everything else was exquisite. The cozze alla marinara was very tasty. The sauce was really good; it was flavorful and there was a nice hint of sweetness. The mussels were well cooked. The pennette pollo & pomodori secchi was scrumptious. The pasta was al dente, which I’m not personally a fan of, but it was still delish. There was a nice balance of ingredients and the sauce was creamy. The chicken was hella bomb and the sweet sun dried tomatoes were a nice touch. Loved it. Will come here again!
