The station was formerly known as KRUZ103.3 and was an adult contemporary station. In the spring of 2005, it converted into what’s known as The Vibe and has been The Vibe since. This station has definitely brought back high school memories of when it was a strictly Hip-Hop station. I used to listen to it a lot back then, even when I made trips around the Central Coast knowing that this station had a clear signal through most of the Central Coast. I understand that the station has to stay relevant and has to innovate themselves, but I think the station went down when it decided that it wanted to be a Top 40 station. Maybe, I’m just getting older and that’s why this station no longer appeals to me like it used to. Who knows! All I know is that this station is just not what it used to be anymore. On a side note: I find it impressive that this station’s signal is so strong that it can be heard from as far south as Agoura Hills and as far north as San Luis Obispo. Although, it was spotty, I actually did manage to get signal from The Vibe as far north as Paso Robles(NOTKIDDING) which I find superb for an FM signal!
