I went in for a cut and Kelli did a great job! I had let my bob cut grow out for too long and needed it shortened and re-shaped. She did exactly what I asked! I have been getting compliments on how well it is stacked in the back. I was one of her first clients and her instructor was there for questions and assistance when needed. Overall I am very happy with my hair cut and my experience.

My haircut turned out great, for $ 16 it’s worth it to come here if you have easily manageable hair. My hair is long, fine and straight, so you can’t go too wrong with a simple trim and layers. As far as color goes, I requested a balayage for my light/medium brown hair and what I ended up was more of faded highlights. I was going for a much different look, but fortunately they offer a complimentary future appointment booked within 3 days of your original appointment to correct what you didn’t like. My only concern now is that I don’t want to end up with something I hate and can’t fix after a second appointment, not to mention further damaging my hair. After my appointment was complete(3.5 hours later) I was given a small sample of some color stripping hair product to strip the toner out(which I had to pay $ 10 extra for). I’ve used a few times now, yet there isn’t much of a difference in the look of my «balayage» as a color stripping product cannot magically create a color style that you did not receive in the first place. I guess after this experience I’m just going to stick with letting seasoned professionals work on my hair, it really saves time and problems in the end.

Recently returned and received a cut by Ella. I honestly LOVE this cut. It’s so easy because it looks great when I just wake up and go and also looks great if I actually have the time to style it.

Got my hair done there today by Nadia. She did a wonderful job. It came out better then the way I pictured it. Thank you so much Nadia. I look forward to seeing you again before you graduate.

I was pretty satisfied with the Agave hair treatment service provided by Alex Moiseeva. It is a complex procedure that takes time, and the master was very meticulous and professional. Definitely will recommend my friends.

Got my haircut by Nadia! She is half way through her graduation at the Academy. I wanted long side bangs with layers and showed her a picture of how I wanted it. She asked me about what shape I need for my hair and also informed me that V shape chops off a lot of volume in the hair and she wanted me to be absolutely sure about it if I wanted them. But I went ahead with U shape with layers. My hair looked amazing and voluminous once she styled them. Just a little disappointment that once I washed my hair(for the first time) after the haircut, it felt like my layers are just at the end of my hair which makes them look all leveled. I needed the layers from the top. May be I didn’t communicate my requirement well. There’s always a next time! I’ll get it right. Anyhoo, I absolutely love the salon and won’t stop coming! :) :)

Today, I checked in for my appointment at 9:30am stating I wanted a senior stylist to cut my hair bc my hair grew too thick and it is constantly falling in front of my face. The stylist I have for today was Janet Sentillan. My goodness, I LOVEHER! She is so professional. The entire time she was communicating with me and asking me what I preferred when there was an option open. I never went to a salon with a hairstylist that professional and talkative before =D. She makes people so easy to open up about their life. When we first started, I told her I wanted a new hair style for a change because I didn’t like how my current one was a blunt cut(straight end). I also want my hair less in my face. Lastly, I would want an inch of hair off. In the end, she came to the conclusion that I should get a Combo Layer cut. During the process, instructor would come by to check up on us. In the end, the instructor came by to touch up the ends for me to give texture. Also, I love how chill everyone was over here. I can keep on saying good things about this place but I’ll just stop here. Haha.

Got my hair balayaged from dark brown w highlights to a lighter brown color. The result came out very beautiful and the student that did my hair was incredibly nice and receptive to what I wanted to get done, really listened to what I wanted! However it actually didn’t turn out close to the color I imagined-was going for almost blonde and it’s still very brown. While the outcome is not what I wanted, they did a great job. My hair required extra bleach so I got charged 69 $ for 4hr 15 min of work. Looks nice but will need def another appointment to get close to what I wanted. Debating whether the need for two sessions is actually cheaper than going to a professional salon once though.

I’ve used the Academy for my standard men’s haircuts several times over the past 4 or 5 years and every time I received good to excellent service. The only disappointment is when a very good stylist graduates and leaves the area. The haircuts aren’t hack jobs as some may expect. Also, changing stylists is entertaining. Someone new to chat with.

My regular hair cut lady is out of town, so I came here after asking my sister for a recommendation. I called and made an appt with Ana, who graduates in Feb. I got to my appt and was soon after greeted by her, after signing a waiver. A tip-don’t bring your kids here, it’s gonna take a while and they are gonna get bored. Anyhow, she asked me about I wanted, went over the cut with me, called a teacher over to approve it and got started. She was very nice and though I was a bit apprehensive, she did a great job. Because they are in school, a teacher has to come back to approve the cut. A cut/blowdry that normally takes my hair lady about 40 minutes took 2 hours here. but that’s to be expected. So you will get a decent hair cut for a cheaper price, but it’ll just take longer.

I relocated to the area and am so glad I found An at the Academy. For the last 6 months, she’s taken care of all my hair needs — color, cut and deep conditioning treatments — with amazing results. An is super sweet, knowledgeable and is careful to make sure you get what you want(cut and color). The Academy charges 1⁄3 of the price I used to pay in SF and with An, I get even better results — so thankful I’ve found this place!

I was long overdue for a haircut but didn’t want to spend a fortune cutting it. I also have trouble every time I look for a hair salon because I don’t really know what I want to to with my hair & the hairdresser ALWAYS asks me for VERY specific instructions in order to cut my hair. I wanted to find someone who can just give me a simple haircut that takes very little effort to upkeep since I don’t usually do anything with it. I found the Academy on Unilocal & decided to give them a try because of the good reviews and it’s cheap! How bad can it be, right?! The student spends extra time on your hair to make sure everything’s done right and — worst case scenario — I’ll just put my hair up in a ponytail(like I always do everyday anyway!). I ended up getting a male student who is close to finishing the program. He spent a lot of time washing my hair and massaging it(my favorite part of cutting hair — woot!). He then asked me a few questions about my hair regimen and habits before telling me his plan… except I was totally ready to just let him do his thing as long as I can have my ponytail as a back-up. His instructor came by a couple of times to check on his progress and also ended up putting on some finishing touches — the haircut turned out to be a great success & I loved it! I actually ended up leaving it down for a few weeks — much longer than I normally do after a haircut(I hate leaving my hair down). I would definitely come back again when I’m due for my next haircut in a couple of years…(my hair takes forever to grow!)…

Ask for a Master stylist as they have the least amount of time left before their time is up. They have a good menu and do deep conditioning for a great price! It is VERY time consuming so I wouldn’t plan on being their less than 3 – 4 hours. That is why it’s not 5 stars. Other than that cool place and I’ll be returning.

Wowwww! This place gets your hair done the way you want! I tried many places all failed. aveda at Santana row was very good! I went there maybe last 18 months but it was hard to see the same person. One of my friend told me to try this place. Perfect hair cut! See Shontalee and Kaitlyn did an amazing job!

Second visit to lighten my hair to a more white blonde. Scheduled with Kaitlyn again on a Monday and didn’t disappoint. She did the application solo this time and applied a different toner than the first time. Because we went so light my hair still had a purple/grey tint from the toner, but it faded within a week of washing. Since I only did the color this time I wasn’t in the chair as long and definitely worth the $ 50ish I spent for the wonderful job! I forgot to ask for deep conditioner this time, but will next. Love the Pureology line. Sidenote: I will continue going elsewhere for a haircut since I have a pixie that requires more freestyle cutting(vs using an electric razor) that I don’t expect students to be awesome at yet.

I dont really understand why this place has such good ratings. Before coming here, i looked them up on Unilocal and saw a few 2 star and 1 star ratings, but ignored them thinking it wouldnt happen to me. I came in for a balayage and noticed immediately that these definitely would be new students working on your hair. I shouldve guessed by how unsatisfied the girl 2 stations down looked when she saw her hair and how the girl next to me was working on her mothers hair. My stylists was actually very nice, but i really am not satisfied with the outcome of my hair. It seems the have an assignment packet that an instructor has to sign off on. My stylist and i talked about what would do and what color id want and i even showed her a picture of the balayage i wanted… the outcome looks nothing like the picture… I totally understand that they are students and i signed a disclaimer, but its like she didnt even try or care about the outcome. Also, midway through my session the instructor and the stylist changed the color agreed upon between me and my stylist and i got no notice whatsoever. When it came around 9 o’clock an instructor shouts how much time was left which to me is very unprofessional and makes the stylists do a sloppy job so i dont really think its my stylists fault. And i the haircut i got was supposed to stay true to my layers and v line and now its just straight across. I want to give this place another chance seeing as how my stylists did tell me its better to go when its not so close to closing time. but thats really not an excuse to mess up someones hair. She even was dissatisfied with how it turned out, but did nothing and i walked out of there with wet hair cause they were closing and students needed to pack up. Maybe ill come back to see if they can fix this balayage cause i really think its unacceptable the more i think about it

I booked a core facial for Saturday morning but I changed my mind last minute and got the medivac instead. For 40 bucks+tip it’s an awesome deal! Nicole was only a week from graduation so I took comfort in knowing that she knew what she was doing. She was super sweet and I left feeling relaxed and my skin felt *glowy*. I could tell she had a great deal of training and has worked with many other clients before me. It’s a bit of a bummer that they only do blackhead extractions though. Not a big deal in my book because it’s better to be safe than sorry. Beats walking out with a butchered face. The room was very clean but it smelled of bleach. It wasn’t overpowering, but just something I noticed. I’d recommend an aromatherapy scent or a lighted candle(if it’s not against the fire code). I also recommend that the Academy get a few smaller sized wraps. I’m petite, so even with the velcro closure, my wrap was too big and would fall down if I didn’t hold it up. Overall, everyone seemed passionate and happy to be/work there so props to the Academy! If you’re thinking about coming in for a facial, just keep in mind that this is a school, and set your expectations accordingly. But with that being said, I recommend this to people who aren’t particular about their facials and just want something relaxing without breaking the bank.

I hadn’t had a hair cut since 2013. I’m bad I know. I came in with a mess of a mane and met Dana(Senior Stylist) to get a cut. She did an incredible, incredible job with the hand(or head) she was dealt :) Here’s what I got. — Washing and deep conditioning $ 9 — Trim(not including bangs) $ 14 — TIP! Remember these lovely people aren’t getting paid :) Tip with cash. It’s all an enjoyable experience — the students are chatty and playful. You shouldn’t be too worried about getting it messed up, because their teachers come around and check up as it’s going down. If it really worries you, you can ask for a senior stylist when you call. Also keep in mind the appointment itself takes some time. Budget accordingly. Again. Tip. :) I’m going back to get my hair colored too!
