It is a quiet place on the weekend, and as usual, the sandwiches are of high quality, and the staff is nice. I have never been here during the week, so I do not know if it is busy with all the business around. If you want something good and consistent absolutely give it a try

Food is always good my wife and I have always been a fan of Eriks deli way back since our high school days and the food is still really good unfortunately the staff is not they clearly do not want to be here and they were bickering in front of customers, come on be professional, sorry Erik’s deli I will be driving across town for food from now on.

My family and I had take out from here to bring back to our hotel. We each ordered different sandwiches but we all agreed it was delicious especially the sauce referred to as Erik’s Secret Goo. We all agreed Erik’s Goo was delicious. Even after the food was long gone we couldn’t stop talking about how good Erik’s Goo tasted in our mouths. Good experience.

I ordered a last minute wrap platter from here for a family(I was calling from LA) and spoke with the manager, Richard(Dick), and he helped me out and made it happen. I got a text from the family this morning with a photo and the wraps look amazing. They were beyond grateful for the restaurant taking care of the order. Thank you!

Went here for some sandwiches on a Sunday afternoon. What was really disappointing was the unacceptable customer service. There was a woman working behind the counter when I walked up. She appeared annoyed I was about to order some food. She immediately went to the back without even greeting me! I waited about 5 minutes for her to return, she did not. Another couple that was dining in were ready to leave, the woman came to the counter to request a take out bag for leftovers. We both just stood there while no employees were even present. Finally after about five minutes, the other woman yelled«hello!» into the back room area to get someone’s attention, «I just want a bag to wrap my sandwich to go.» At this point, the same female employee appeared to give her a bag. This same employee who ignored me 10 minutes ago went into the back again. Immediately a male employee was summoned out to help me. Wow! It was then I realized there were 2 people working there. I finally got to place my order with him. He slowly made my sandwich without incident, although he needed to look up at the menu board to see what ingredients go on it. There were hot foods displayed as well. I looked at the chili and it was completely dried and seriously gross from sitting out all day. It looked solid from dehydration. Obviously no one working there even cared to remove it all day, or worse, did not even notice. I wonder how many other customers saw this throughout the day. I realize that most locations are franchises, and some locations suffer from poor management. This one obviously does. You should not accept poor service from a restaurant with so much competition around Santa Cruz. Hint, Zoccoli’s Delicatessen on Pacific Ave is so much better. Furthermore, with this type of customer service tolerated from a franchisee, you wonder if management makes sure other standards are followed, such as cleanliness, sanitation, and other food handling procedures.

Got tangled in the tumbling tumbleweed of sandwich wrappers just outside the door. Seems like people must be soo hungry as they turn heel out the door they toss garbage– decent sandwich, poor housekeeping, really bad manners aside.

Excellent! Quick service, friendly. I had the Thai Chicken Wrap and it was delicious! Only wish they were in northern NV! :) I highly recommend if you are in the area. Soups were a bit pricey for the size but they looked delicious. Size of sandwich was enough that chips were not needed.

The sandwiches and salads are always great, the staff at the register and behind the counter making the sandwiches are all very friendly and attentive; I would’ve given 5 stars but the manager an older male is NOT friendly at all, every time I walk in whether he is helping make sandwiches or staffing the register he’s ALWAYS got a scowl on his face. I visited Erik’s today for lunch and as I was walking out I stopped to ask one of the guys for a bag, as the guy hands me the bag I said Thank you for the bag and gave the manager a thank you as well only to get a nasty scowl from him in return! this guy does not need to be seen and should stay in his little office in the back; he needs to get customer service training from his staff. #smileitsfree

The sandwiches here are a little pricey, given their quality is just okay. I’ve been here a few times and my go to sandwich is their reuben sandwich. Their«goo» is delicious but that’s probably all it is. Everything else is mediocre and they are pretty slow with their service. Nice, but slow. Tried their St jarls panini sandwich on one occasion and was not impressed. Was pretty disappointed. It looked like a sandwich I could make at home myself. Next time, I’m just gonna stick to their rueben sandwich.

They are incredibly slow… even when your order is simple. I highly recommend calling ahead.

Super friendly customer service, but horrible sandwich making skills. From the get go, I made it clear that I was a vegetarian and asked if it’d be okay to custom order a sandwich — they said sure! So I did, and what I got was fairly disappointing. My friend and I are one of five people in here, including the homeless man in the corner taking a nap, so there is no reason why my sandwich should of looked the way it did! I’m just a little bummed out that there was basically nothing in it. The whole one tomato slice kinda made my sandwich loving soul cringe. Anyway. Maybe next time. Nonetheless, the food has potential and the soups are great.

Our first time coming here and I order my sandwich with no onions and my sandwich was given to me with onions. I was a little bit annoyed and then the man who made it came and apologized and said he had forgotten and he would remake it. I was very happy that he apologized

The Abbott’s Habit was tasty, as was the Jambalaya. Not much for atmosphere, but we could get a table and eat on a Sunday, which beat waiting for an hour at other places.

I always forget about this deli. They have a good variety if sandwiches, which are all pretty good. The one down side is the bread that they come on is quite small. However, the taste makes up for it. This is a good alternative to zoccolis if you are interested in mixing it up.

Totally fell in love with this place the first time I ate here. My first meal was the ½ sandwich combo with the Pilgrim’s Progress sandwich and a cup of the chicken vegetable rice soup. It was so delicious. I’ve also had the soup bowl which is a dugout sourdough bread round. It’s served with a small salad. Yummy. The restaurant is clean and bright.

This place is pretty good, like any other sandwich place. You order first and then sit down and they give you a number and then bring the sandwich to your table. Very casual place, not a lot of people were inside eating. I got the Pilgrims Progress, which came on a slice of wheat bread and was stuffed with meat and veggies and plenty of avocado. I don’t know what sauce they use but it tastes like a mixture of egg salad and onions, but it tastes really good, I believe they call this sauce the Secret Goo. My bf got the Rio Grande Club which was also quite good. I’m not too big of a fan of their bread just because it is sliced bread and I feel like I can get that at home. Other than that, a good solid sandwich. **Sign up for their email list and you’ll get a buy one get one free coupon! Good for one use only and remember to print it out

For those days that you don’t really have a craving, this is a good spot. They have a variety of comfort foods. Something for everyone. It’s nice and clean and the staff are friendly. The only thing is that the food tends to be on the bland side. So a little salt and hot sauce is always available to fix that little problem. Sandwiches are ok but not as good as other places. I rather have soup and salad here. The chicken they use in sandwiches or salads looks good but tastes bland(cooked without salt or any spices).

It is strange to walk in a newly furnished restaurant in Santa Cruz… but this place looks like it got renovated. It’s brighter, cheerier, roomier than most places around this area. I haven’t been to Erik’s Deli in a while… but when I asked for their beef stew, it was not on their menu. *sad face* So I went for ½ sandwich and ½ soup. I went mainstream and went for their chicken with kick(or something like that) soup. It didn’t have much of a kick. I couldn’t decide on: 1) Pilgrim’s Progress… Turkey breast and avocado on wheat bread, sauce, red onions, tomatoes and Sprouts 2)R.E.O. Speedwagon… Smoked ham, turkey breast and Monterrey jack, loaded on Sourdough, sauce, red onions, tomatoes and Sprouts or 3) Raging Bull… Roast Beef, Mild Green Chili Peppers and Pepper Jack Cheese, heated on a Peppered Onion Roll, sauce, red onions, tomatoes and Sprouts …I’d just finished a Wharf to Wharf, and I was a raging hormone… so I went for 3). The operative ingredient that makes me come back? SPROUTS.
