I have never been very impressed with Silver Spur’s food. It seems to be just average, which is fine! People love this place and it’s a Santa Cruz staple, so good Silver Spur!

I was gonna give a 2 since i didnt finish my plate. Pretty much none of us finished what we got. But i gave a 3 since service was decently nice and food presentation was good. It’s a small place and packed so the wait for our food was awhile. My food was just too cheesy for my liking and everything was cut too big. The fries my brother got were good but greesy. Chocolate milk was good

This is a great place to go for breakfast and lunch. I have been here many times and the food is always delicious and well-prepared. Friendly staff and great service. Love the western theme.

On my first visit; because, I was in the neighborhood, I ordered huevos rancheros, a special from the board:. Worse I ever had. Coffee was mediocre. I am sticking with Linda’s Seabreeze café on Seabright in the future.

I wasn’t too impressed with Silver Spur. I pass by this diner on the way to work and I always see the parking lot packed! I wanted to check it out sometime so I came one day with my mom. It’s very nice that there’s a parking area for the restaurant. That’s always a pleasant surprise when you don’t have to find street parking :) The space inside is super cute! It’s everything I would want to see inside a diner. They even have a cute counter area. It’s weird because the service started off great. I don’t know if it was the fact that my mom and I took a while to decide what we wanted to eat. But I could just tell from the look on my server’s face that she looked annoyed every time she came to our table. I understand if the restaurant was busy that she might be more impatient, but there were a lot of empty tables at this time. What’s the rush? Anyways, we ordered the South of the Border scrambled and a daily special of some sausage scrambled. Like most diners, you can choose to get home fries(potatoes) or fruit, and a choice of toast(they have a lot of options! Like rye, raisin, seed, english muffin etc). Both plates I would say were pretty good. I don’t know though, it wasn’t anything spectacular for me. Maybe the service ruined it? Oh, but it is cool you get to choose if you want the scrambled with eggs or tofu! I had a lot leftover so I asked my server for a to go box. She saw how much was left on my plate, and she brought me this tiny little thing that I maybe could’ve fit just my toast in. I saw tons of bigger boxes from where she brought it. I had to ask a different lady to bring me a bigger box. Not sure I’ll be back, although if I did maybe I’ll try their blueberry pancakes?

Never bean, but I always pass by as I’m driving to the Santa Cruz flea market down the street. It’s always caught my attention looking at all the people waiting 2 get a table. Finally went on a Saturday with all my family. My kids loved it, but they can be easy 2 please if you put a burger or some pancakes in front of there face. I was trying not 2 find anything that would bother me and enjoy a nice Saturday breakfast with my family. Well the first thing they brought me was a cup of coffee with a big lipstick stain from the last female that drank out of the cup. The waitress was very nice and brought me another coffee, but at that point I didn’t even want coffee anymore. I had the country friend steak it was good but had some gristle so it was hard to chew and my biscuit and gravy was cold. But I must admit and commend them on there blueberry pancakes and service, there female waitresses are very nice and on it ! I may go back if my family wants to.

Absolutely love this place for breakfast! We live in SJ and go to Capitola and SeaCliff quite a bit, many many years ago we discovered this place and now always make it a point to make there for a wonderful breakfast even if it is lunch time :) VSR

Oh how I love you silver spur :) Such a good breakfast spot, absolutely love coming here. Very welcoming and comfortable vibe. The staff is always friendly. Sometimes the wait can take a while, so be ready to wait if your coming during popular hours. Love everything I’ve tried here. The hot chocolate, and the chai tea and both amazing. I have gotten the waffles, pancakes, French toast, and omelettes and haven’t had a bad experience yet :)

Yummy authentic diner! The homemade biscuits are delicious. The french dip is perfection. Huge omelettes. Everyone had a great meal. The atmosphere is a bit crowded and dated. I wish they’d tear out the carpet and re-do the interior, but the food is great!

Great local Santa Cruz breakfast spot located on Soquel Drive. Excellent breakfast choices, great staff, and very clean. Get here early if you want to get a table without a wait, as this is a very popular breakfast and lunch spot. Abundant parking, comfortable seating, and reasonable prices.

Ok breakfast not exceptional. Based on Unilocal reviews I had expect more. Bacon was a bit dry. The French toast. On the other hand was very good !

Love: — excellent diner food — super friendly wait staff — generally friendly customers(I’ve only sat at the counter, where I always end up in a chat) — none of the vaguely dangerous feelings of so many other places in Santa Cruz Yesterday’s chicken fried steak was perfection.

Disappointed in return trip. Staff inattentive and food of average quality. I can accept the wait to get in, but 90 minutes to get in and out once inside was rediculous. Won’t be back.

Came upon this gem while visiting Santa Cruz. Word to the wise, there may be a bit of a wait but anything this good is worth waiting for! First time, we sat at the counter, the service was quick and very friendly. Part of the charm is that everyone there seems to be a regular and they know each other, catch up and visit. If you’re not a regular, you’re treated like they’ve known you all your life. The food! Great home cooked fare, waffles and pancakes that are out of this world and very reasonable prices. I will continue to visit Santa Cruz and breakfast here is a must. Great job everyone!

This place has the reputation of being the best breakfast around, but I don’t see it. First thing I noticed is the over crowded parking and long line out the door. I figured it’s because they’re super busy and churn the food out fast, boy was I mistaken. I had some coffee while I waited, for over 45 minutes, to be seated. I ordered the country fried steak and biscuits and gravy per recommendation. The steak had two bites of gristle, and the biscuits were dry, but the gravy was pretty delish. Eggs cooked over medium, per request. Service was average, if not a little rushed. Food took about as long as expected after I saw how fast others were getting their food, roughly 30 minutes. A good place to go for breakfast if you enjoy crowded and loud community type breakfast. Don’t expect miracles, it’s just breakfast.

Super kind and attentive waitress. She made me feel comfortable right away and she was very patient. The art is beautiful as well. I had the special-Linguisa sausage scramble, with fruit. Delicious and delicious! A must try breakfast/brunch restaurant.

Tasty — Chicken fried steak was enough for two. I shared this with my gf and still had leftovers. There was a great gravy over the top with lots of flavor. The meat itself was good and overall not to salty. Great value. Friendly — The wait staff here is very friendly and I felt as if I was being treated as someobody that has come here everyday for the last 20 years. Very nice. Fast — We came just before the rush and although we did have to wait for five minutes for our table once seated everything was very fast from ordering to receiving or breakfast and receiving multiple coffee refills. Coffee while you wait. The bonus is that there is coffee for you outside while you wait. Very nice of them. We will be back.

Come for the orange poppyseed pancakes, stay for the loudmouth white guys at the counter discussing their constitutional right to open carry. …Or bring earplugs.

We decided to take my Grandmother out to breakfast before we headed back home and decided to try out Silver Spur(It’s been years since I’ve been). Amazingly we got a prime parking space and only had to wait a few minutes. We were seated in the back corner and the waitress introduced herself right away. BF and Gma got coffee and I had a water. We looked over the menus and decided pretty much right away. I had the waffle combo, Gma had the french toast combo, and BF had the Hoppy’s Burrito with bacon. The food came out after we had been talking for 10 – 15 minutes and everything looked great(that’s where it ended for me and BF). My waffle was hard and not that warm. my guess is that it was sitting in the service window for a few minutes while they got the rest of the orders together. The eggs were good and bacon crispy. BF said that his breakfast burrito wasn’t anything special and that he hardly had any bacon in the burrito. Now I am not sure about my Gma’s meal but I did score a bite of her french toast and it was good. Overall I would skip the SS and find another breakfast place the next time I am back in my home town.
