This company is working as a landscape contractor in the Irvine area by a father and son team of Daniel Lee and John Lee, aka Inchan Lee. They use the name Line Tech Co, license #562319. I live in Lambert Ranch, Irvine and had the misfortune of hiring them to do my landscape after they came knocking on my door soliciting business. They stopped working on my project for two months so I fired them halfway through the project. There are over a dozen other homeowners in my community who used this contractor and almost all of them are unhappy with the work and several have sued them. I had to threaten to sue them to get back some of my money when I fired them. I still lost a lot of money from having to switch contractors. Per discussion with several people, their mode of operation goes like this. The first house they did in Lambert Ranch was done pretty well and for a very cheap price. They then use that house as a reference. They will quote you a low price to sign you up and then go to work quickly to show activity to your neighbors in hopes of getting their business. Once all of your neighbors on your street have chosen a landscape contractor, they will move on to another street and drag their feet in completing your work. They will then try to charge you more than the agreed price to finish the project. By that time, you are 60% complete and switching cost is high. If you do not pay the extra, they just abandon the project and claim that you did not pay for the«additional» work. Without a detailed signed contract, you don’t have many options. They will always ask for money in advance of the work performed. They purposely delay submitting plans to the HOA for approval and tell you that it’s no big deal. It’s in Line Tech’s interest to delay plan approval as this becomes an excuse for them to delay the project. They will not give you a written contract unless you ask for one. They will not sign a contract unless you ask them to sign it. The contract will be very vague to avoid enforceability. Their business protocol is to do whatever they can get away with. The contractor’s license that they are using is not their own. It belongs to a guy named Myong Yi in Cypress. The address on their business card: 1700 E. Garry Ave#226, Santa Ana is an unoccupied office which is leased by a business called Secret Garden. You have no way of tracking these guys down if something goes wrong. Their quality of work is horrible. Sprinklers don’t work properly, drains don’t drain, the plants/trees they use are tiny. They build walls and stairs that our HOA is telling owners to tear down because they are not approved. Daniel Lee is a pathological liar so be careful of anything he says.
