We had the most fabulous experience at Sazon. From the moment we sat down to the last bite of dessert, it was a wonderful time. It was a whole experience, the food, the ambiance and our fantastic waiter Kevin. He was wonderful and provided us with wonderful dining recommendations as well as perfect wine pairings. We would not have typically decided to order steak, however, Kevin was so convincing that my husband ordered it and we were not disappointed. It was melt in your mouth amazing. I had the salmon in the phyllo pastry and it was wonderful as well. We even ventured out of our comfort zone and tried their specialty appetizer of baby grasshoppers(yes, I said grasshoppers). It was a pleasantly surprising experience. The unconventional ice cream dessert was also thoroughly enjoyed. The chef came out to speak with us which made the whole evening all the more special. With the 7 specials in addition to the regular menu, you can tell that they have a love of food as much as we do. I highly recommend Sazon.

No other eating experience like it! Get ready to have all your senses explode. Amazing food and service. Didn’t even look at menu because there were so many specials. Also the chefs creations are nothing like you’ve ever had. I’d highly recommend the sopa de amor. It’s a must visit if you come to Santa Fe

Dined with a party of 4 on Sat, June 4. We arrived for our reservation right at 8. We were poorly greeted by pretentious hosts. We were shown our table and greeted by our server, also pretentious. We had a flight of tequilas, which were fine. We ordered our soups and entrees. The food was very tasty, FORALLOF3BITES! I understand that it’s a very gastric and foody experience, but c’mon man. Seriously, who could possibly get full on this food. I don’t mind paying for a great meal, with great service and a fair amount of food– this isn’t it. Yes, it’s creative and flavorful– but so are a great many other restaurants in Santa Fe. Do yourself a favor– skip Sazon and spend your money on better experiences and more fairly priced food.

Great service, drinks and the different mole versions are very good. You should NEVER undercook pork chops.

We stumbled upon this lovely restaurant on Unilocal. The 5 stars do not lie. I only wish that we had come here on our first night so that we could have returned over and over. From the mole tasting and the wine selection to the entrees and the amazing service, this place was an 11. Stop you search and make a reservation NOW! Ps– Dulce was the best server that I have had in years…

This was one of the best dining experiences I have had in a long time and I eat at a lot of amazing restaurants. I am a foodie and sommelier in Vail, CO and this is a place where you can taste the love and passion in every bite and drink. Our server Kevin was a true tour guide who knew the menu inside and out. Chris, the bartender/mixologist, was knowledgeable and took pride in the drinks he served up which were all delicious. And the chef, oh my, what an artist. His talent and layered flavors are incredible. He was constantly present in the restaurant making sure everyone enjoyed their food. This place is unique and so flavorful. Do yourself a favor and put Sazon at the top of your restaurant list in Santa Fe! I would give it 10 stars if I could!

Amazing! Go here. Get the dulce symphonia for dessert. Enjoy. Julio was an amazing server. The art is beautiful. I could eat a barrel of the tecuba sauce. We loved *everything* about our whole meal.

If you go to Santa Fe and you enjoy bold and exciting flavors you MUST try Sazon! The chef, Fernando Olea, is a true artist. This is real Mexican gourmet! From appetizers through to desert it was an amazing experience. I can’t think of a more enjoyable dinner. I am 68 years old and have never had food this good and I have eaten in my share of fine restaurants. Every course had flavors I had never tasted and yet were incredible. A kiva fireplace and beautiful paintings add to the wonderful atmosphere. I can’t wait to return!

After Sazon was given a rave in the Denver Post, we looked forward to what was billed as «not to miss.» My De La Casa salad was over dressed and the lamb special was less than fair. Our waiter forgot to ask how I’d like the lamb prepared and it was medium drowning in mole. I would have preferred medium rare and the mole on the side. The sweet potato purée was so sweet, it tasted like powered sugar had been added. The beet garnish and micro greens were a prop with ZERO flavor. They tasted as if they had been prepped days ahead and left in ice water to chill. The waitstaff was friendly but our section, an ancillary dinning room off the main dining room, was soon filled. I noticed that other’s around us were waiting for drinks and being told that the bar was backed up. That was not our problem. But the hefty price tag for tired food and fair service was. This was our first visit… and my concern with Unilocal reviews is that one time is not enough to judge an establishment. But in the end, I tried to make a comment to the management before we left and there was no one anywhere. So, here I am. Writing a poor review the next day.

Great experience and food were awesome. We have the crab soup and it combined cream on the top so you can taste the hot and cold soup. Then we tried the dessert the ice cream was smooth and creamy. Do not miss this restaurant when you are in Santa Fe.

The flavors of Oaxaca in Santa Fe! Everything is out of this world. No, this is not New Mexican, this is true Mexico City /Oaxacan food and it’s the bomb. Great bartender(Chris) and a stellar selection of Mezcals and Tequilas. This is not to be missed if you are a foodie and demand the best in the city you are dining in. A really special spot. I’ve dined in Mexico City and Oaxaca and this matches every dish bite for bite.

Explosive flavors crash the waves of your senses, leaving you satiated, and ebullient. The mezcal flight was an awesome way to start, at the cozy environs of the traditional bar. The service was fantastic, and the dining room is exquisite.

From the offer as we were seated to place my wife’s purse on a stool to the presentation of the bill in a carved wooden box, the service at Sazon was consistently disappointing. Our first waiter apparently gave up after being overwhelmed with too many tables. The charming waitress who picked up the pieces did her best, but was thwarted at every turn by a kitchen that took 20 minutes between courses. The food of course, spectacular. The investment by the owner in wait staff, not so much.

Excellent ambience, service and exquisite food. My hard to please 13 year old daughter loved her salmon with tacuba sauce and truffle topping. We had to go light on the origin of truffles to get her to enjoy it. My wife had a sea bass with a pear flavored molé sauce and I had a tuna tartare with a tacuba sauce. I liked both a lot!

This was a culinary adventure that I have never experienced. The service, food, and atmosphere were impeccable. When you enter, you will notice paintings by artists from Mexico that are all for sale. During your dining experience, you will notice other diners walking around, looking at the paintings. Don’t let this alarm you as they are all beautiful. We were a group of 8 vising Santa Fe for a birthday retreat, and we were easily sat at 5:30 toward the back of the restaurant. Drinks that started the night included the Latin Lover and Sazontini. Julio(our waiter) delivered 2 trios(both the same, 1 for each end of the table) of Chef Olea’s mole creation. After the arrival of the moles’, Chef Olea visited our table and explained each one. One would think that he would need to rush to get back to the kitchen, but he was patient and explained the process and ingredients of each one. He said that he just finished a new mole, which he had delivered(we had 4 moles total, all impeccable). I ordered the Oaxaquenos. 3 mini tortillas topped with chapulines(grasshoppers eaten as snack in Oaxaca), avocado, sour cream and cheese. A perfect combination of textures and flavors of sour and earth. Next came the Sopa de Amor. This is not on the menu as it was a special by Chef Olea. The first layer was a creamed poblano with blue crab meat, topped with a sweet foam, sprinkled with a chocolate powder. Chef Olea helped deliver the soup to our table and proceeded to explain the dish, and explained how we should eat it to experience the flavor he intended. I’m not a fan of crab, but I did not even realize it was crab. You do not guzzle this down. For the main course, I ordered the Emoladas. Similar to flat enchiladas, it was a corn tortilla with meat in the middle, layered with another corn tortilla, smothered with Chef Olea’s Colorodito Mole. This was surrounded with a creamy, spicy sauce that will light a fire of flavor in your mouth. There is no shame in my game, and I asked the table to send their plates to me if they could not finish their plate. There was a pork chop that was ordered(not dry, perfectly cooked and full flavored), sea bass(light and flaky, with a perfectly pan seared outer layer). Finally, for dessert, it was difficult to decide between the chocolate lava cake, tiramisu, or the cobbler. The last option was the Sweet Symphony, Chef Olea’s own creation of sweet, spicy, and savory. Naturally, I had to do this. 5 flavors that mold together, each hitting individual spots of your mouth. First came ginger, followed by pinyon nuts(pine nuts) and avocado ice cream. As this sits in your mouth, you get hints of avocado ice cream blending with the red beet foam. By this time, you feel like you’re floating on a cloud, but you’re brought back to reality when you notice the jalapeño zing creeping up from the back of your mouth to the tip of your tongue, telling you the next bite must come. The Sweet Symphony is accompanied by a crisp cookie sprinkled with powdered sugar. Chef Olea helped deliver each course, explained each course, and encouraged questions. His dedication to cooking and attention to detail shows when you listen to him talk about his food. As mentioned above, all are the best things I can describe. However, there is one downside… Sazon is not in Dallas, so I cannot enjoy this anytime I want.

Excellent restaurant. Made a last minute change to Sazon upon reading the rave reviews from Unilocalers and open table. I made a wise decision. Had the crab bisque special topped with whipped cream and a dash of cinnamon, rack of lamb special with sweet potatoes, followed by the corn truffle appetizer — because I had to try it after hearing people talk about it, and ended with a pumpkin spice dessert, kinda like a bread pudding, simply divine. Everything was very tasty and was the highlight of my trip. Ate at the bar since I was dinning solo and had interesting conversations, including an education on Tequila and Mezcal, with my bar mates and the bartender. This restaurant is new, but if the experience I had and the ones around me had, this place will be very special to the Santa Fe food scene for a long time to come.
