Benny’s Tacos & Chicken Rotisserie

Really pumped to have a Benny’s near me now. Chicken is pretty good, supreme fries are noice, just like the California fries in SD and Charde provided delightful service!

I found Benny’s one month ago because I was craving cheap Mexican food in Santa Monica and I have been back at least five times (maybe more) since then! It is my new favorite go to for whenever I am in the mood for something delicious and filling.
The service is great, everyone is super sweet and the food is AMAZING and affordable! The little patio outdoors is perfect for an afternoon lunch on a sunny day. There’s even super convenient parking.
My boyfriend and I especially love the Supreme Fries (perfect for sharing) !
I highly recommend everyone try this place! I hope you all love it as much as I do!

Love the Chicken Wrap with avocado at Benny’s. Delicious food, healthy /​clean, good value and great service. Our server was Rocio; she was terrific. I recommend!

I’m taking stars off for mere customer service issues. I love this place since it’s so close to my apartment, but an incident that literally just occurred has turned me off. I am writing this from car.
Anyway, I come here quite often when I’m having a bad day. Burritos really cure everything. However, not when they’re served with poor customer service.
I made a mistake in ordering and wanted to have them add something into my burrito. I get it. It was my fault. I didn’t tell you. But any other place would have remedied this instead of giving me straight up attitude like it was the end of the world me asking for this.
It’s a shame because I’ve never seen this woman here before and everyone has gone out of their way to be nice and even help me with my salsa mountains /​giving me an extra bag to hold them.
Perhaps I will get over it. Perhaps not. I am sad for now.

This is my first Unilocal review. I haven’t been compelled yet but this place absolutely rules. I’d go as far as saying it may be the best Mexican food on the west side. La Fiesta Brava used to hold court but they’ve been seriously slacking. You will not regret going here!

Benny’s is our go-​to hangover cure! We’ve ordered from them several times now and they always deliver quickly and without error. Delivery is $ 4 but if you sign up for eat24’s email list you’ll get a $ 2 coupon emailed to you each weekend that cuts that in half.
I have to say, it is not the best Mexican food I’ve ever had but it is delicious! I’ve had the steak California burrito and a couple of the different breakfast burritos. They always give you a variety of sauces and all orders over $ 20 get free churros that are still hot!

I love love love this place and I’m Mexican so there’s my credibility. Rocio who helped me out was super sweet: D
Went back today because «duh». Best Mexican food in Santa Monica. Marybelle helped us out and hooked it up. Terrific service. Terrific food and prices keep me coming back.

Their food is so fresh and fast we eat here at least once a week! Clean facility and the chicken is amazing– love the red sauce you can get on it for tacos. Definitely recommend to eat there or to pick up!

Walked in, the place was pretty empty. Ordered my plate of food to go. Sat down and waited. 5 minutes. nothing. another guy walks in and orders. 10 minutes, nothing… So I ask how long it will be, and the lady walks over to the line, I hear her say my order # to the cook and she goes to the back, but the señorita didnt bother giving me an update on the time. Gracias!
15 minutes…, the guy who came in after me gets his big bag of food and walks out!
I walk up to counter and the incompetence increases, it takes 3 people to get me a refund which I knew would be faster than waiting for what absolutely HAS to be the best chicken enchiladas in Los Angeles since they take 20 minutes to make. Just kidding, its fast food that isnt fast.
No Gracias, No Me Gusta and this place is off my list and my companies list now. De Nada.

Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely LOVE Mexican food (especially in San Diego) but it can get sickening eating a burrito over and over while on vacation.
Starving and slight delusional from the lack of a proper meal all day, my friends and I decided to just walk in here to just fill out stomach with food. To my surprise, they had rotisserie chicken here which was an interesting concept for a Mexican restaurant.
I ordered the quarter rotisserie chicken with a side of house salad (also came with other items like: veggies, guacamole, and flour/​corn tortilla).
I wasn’t sure how you were suppose to eat the meal all together but I decided to make little chicken wraps using the tortilla that they gave me. With the combination of the garlic paste, veggies, roasted chicken, and salad, it turned out to be an amazing meal! The chicken was super moist and flavorful while the veggies/​salad added a nice, light, refreshing taste to my overall Mexican meal.
Definitely check this place out if you’re in the mood for Mexican food, rotisserie chicken, or both!

This is a great addition to the west side. I love to small, family vibe of the place.
The outdoor patio is perfect for our wonderful LA weather. They even have a couple of TVs if you need game up dates while you wait.
The food is delicious, from the vegetarian burritos to the lobster wrap.
If you love burritos (like me) you need to check this place out!

shout out to the best worker at this establishment, Maya! she’s so sweet, helpful & patient. my friend and i did not know what to order, and she guided us through the menu and guarenteed us the best meal possible. and the food is DELICIOUS!!! favorites are the chicken and carne tacos. the horchata is also rockin! I really return here for the phenomenal customer service. Maya always helps me, but all the workers are sweet as well. everyone is quick, friendly and makes amazing tacos!

Probably the worst «Mexican» food I’ve had in a while. The service was fantastic, the staff so friendly and helpful. But the food, wow. Doesn’t surprise me. It’s Santa Monica.
I was super excited to try this place since its down the street from my job. The food was extremely bland. No flavor what so ever. I ordered the California burrito. Guacamole had no flavor, carne Asada had no seasoning, and then they add fries? I thought the fries were on the side. So it’s a burrito with bland meat, bland guacamole, and fries? I’m sorry but I don’t know who gave them the idea that this would be good. Super lackluster. I also ordered and horchata and a churro. The horchata had no flavor, it tasted like sugar water. The churro was ok.
I gave it a shot. I thought maybe it was the concoction itself that just didn’t go together but the protein is the most important. If that fails, all else will. Too bad it didn’t work out, the staff were great and the place itself looked very clean and inviting.

I finally tired the Eat24 app and I’m sorry to say there are a lot of glitches that need to be worked out.
Apart from the app having glitches I wouldn’t order from this restaurant.
The beef tacos had a few pieces of fat in it and the california chicken burrito had 2 pieces of bone in it. The sides were just okay.
We did get a 2 free churros, but after the meal I was reluctant to eat them.

Love their fries and quesadillas. Anything with portobello mushrooms is amazing! My husband likes the meat and fish items too.
Easy access and parking. Quick service. Well priced and they regularly have Groupons and coupons in the mail.

I stumbled upon Benny’s because of Groupon. I purchased the Unilocal deal. And loved it so much I also purchased the groupon deal.
I have gotten a tostada salad and a California burrito. Both were great, my favorite was the Burrito. I loved the burrito and the fries on the side and the different salsas they have their at the salsa bar. Yummy food! The service was great, when dining in the employees came to us several times and made sure our food was good, and we had everything we wanted. I definitely will be back, great service and good food!

I originally took my review down hoping Benny would learn a lesson and not be such a jerk to people. But I come back and see nothing has changed.
My original review was about a hair I found in my quesadilla and also how I saw a cook pick up French fries from the floor with his bare hands and then wiped them with a cloth towel.
The same towel he kept wiping his hands while he continued to prepare other people’s food. I was nice and removed the review. I figured everyone needs a second chance.
I come back tonight and he is accusing another customer of lying about a bug in nachos. Why would anyone lie about such a thing.
Benny you have issues in your restaurant. Regardless what the letter on the door says. You have bugs in your food, hair falling into food and workers that haven’t been trained on proper food handling.
I know it’s always someone else. Everyone else are liars. Unfortunately the cameras you allegedly reviewed the incident with don’t point to the area where this issue occurred. The irony when the accuser is the real liar with no integrity.
This one I’m not taking down. You are such a jerk to people. You are always accusatory and can’t accept responsibility. For once in your life shut up and just fix the issue.

Unilocal took the one down for the Westechest store because I didn’t eat at that one I ate at the one in Santa Monica that has food handling issues.

Keep responding to the Unilocal reviews. Every time you open your mouth and threaten people you prove my point. I didn’t make these emails up. They are your words. You work so hard in making your business yet you have bugs and hair In your food. Maybe you should put that money into training on how to handle food.

Depends how much money you’re going to give Unilocal this time to take down the post. Unfortunately, I have a copy of the emails you sent me. I will post them again and again so everyone knows the true character of Benny T. You can’t run and hide from who you really are.
Do you know why you can no longer email me through Unilocal?Because even Unilocal agreed that you are sending me harassing emails and blocked you. The only reason they don’t take your restaurant off of Unilocal is because you are paying them.

I’m ordering again from the restaurant and am sure the food will match the excellent customer service Benny has been offering via private messages.

«Rotisserie» is a French word meaning «a shop selling food that is roasted» (just as a patisserie sells pastry, and a boulangerie sells bread). It’s a little odd that a Mexican restaurant specializes in French roasted chicken…

Benny’s Tacos means well. I truly believe that.
But holy hell, this restaurant has a long way to go.
Attention to detail is sorely lacking here… which can ultimately be traced back to Benny’s management, who needs to schedule some remedial training for its staff.
Example #1 — The Mystery of the Absent Avocado: On two separate occasions several weeks apart, my meal was missing avocado. The first time, I ordered a salad that was topped with avocado (according to the menu), but there was no avocado… and the person who delivered my salad didn’t notice its absence. She politely redressed the issue when I raised it, but it was still annoying.
Then, on another visit, I *paid extra* to have avocado added to my huevos rancheros — it was even called out on the receipt! — and yet, once again, the avocado was missing from my plate.
Per other Unilocalers’ reviews (see Randi M.‘s review, posted on the same day as mine), this appears to be a recurring problem of which the owner, Benny, is aware. And yet it still hasn’t been corrected.
Example #2 — The Curse of the Caked-​On Cutlery: During the same visit where my extra avocado was missing from my order, the woman who brought over my food delivered weirdly inappropriate silverware (she brought only a soup spoon and knife, but no fork… for huevos rancheros?).
Adding insult to injury, the knife was filthy, covered in what looked like dried, caked-​on egg yolk (see photo). Talk about unappetizing when you’re about to dig into your food!
When I alerted the staff to this issue, they quickly (and apologetically) replaced the knife. But this mishap reflects three separate points of failure: (1) The dishwasher did an unbelievably careless job, (2) The person supervising the dishwasher was not paying attention, and (3) the person delivering the cutlery didn’t even LOOK at what she was delivering (or if she did… that’s even worse!)
The food would have to be flat-​out amazing to overcome these significant problems… but sadly, I can only call it average. Even Swingers (the hipster diner) does better huevos rancheros than Benny’s… for around the same price.
And as someone who lives a block away from Benny’s, the glaring and bright signage advertising «we cater!,» etc. is an eyesore, and indicative — to me — of a certain level of desperation.
So while I’m glad to have a new food option on my block, and have always appreciated the genuine friendliness exuded by Benny’s staff (even in the face of all the issues), I’d almost rather go to Baja Fresh a couple of blocks over.

Wonderful place!
Food is fresh, good tasting, fast service.
People place order at the counter and given a number for the table. A nice employee brings to table with a smile. She is constantly cleaning tables, and moving (serving, offering to-​go boxes, picking-​up empty plates, etc). She seems to know the clientele. She strikes a conversation with people (who obviously work on nearby offices).
The place is clean!
It’s has welcoming atmosphere. It has inside sitting (small tables), outside sitting with colorful umbrellas.
I recommend.
My only regret is that it’s too far from my home.
