Space N K Apothecary

The salesgirls at this shop are terrific. They are all accommodating and never push products on me. I always leave spending $$, but their return policy is very fair. You can bring anything
back for an exchange and of course, if it hasn’t been used, you get a full credit back onto your
card, etc. Although it’s a small shop, they are jampacked with top of the line products that
I’ve never seen anywhere else. I love the Terry line and Lipstick Queen, which comes
in a pigmented lipstick and then a lighter one. Oribe products are fabulous for the hair,
and their nail polishes are completely beautiful and unique. I love the service!

I first heard about Space NK from YouTube beauty gurus from the UK. I thought it was a UK-​only store for awhile… but then I found out that they had some locations in the US! I was excited because they carry some brands that I have yet to find anywhere else… particularly Oribe haircare. When I found out that there was a Space NK less than 2 miles away from my apartment, I HAD to go!
This is a great location because it’s an actual stand-​alone store. Space NK has their own stations/​booths inside some high end department stores like Bloomingdales, but this is the only location I can find near me that is actually a stand-​alone store.
It’s located at the Brentwood Country Mart, which I often frequent for Sweet Rose Creamery on the other side of the building. There is a parking lot, but it is very small and cramped, and more often than not I have trouble finding a place to park.
I’ll admit that this is a very small store. The girls working there are super friendly and helpful and are willing to help you if you have any questions about their products. They carry mostly haircare, beauty, and skincare products. A few brands to name are Oribe (as I mentioned earlier), Lipstick Queen, Diptyque, Kevin Aucoin, By Terry, Bumble and Bumble, Clarins, etc. I only come here exclusively for the Oribe products, but I may look into some of the other brands in the future.
Everything here is definitely on the higher end. I have purchased the Oribe Surfcomber Mousse ($ 37?), Oribe Apres Beach Spray (around $ 42), and the Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray (around $ 42).
They have a cool rewards program where for every $ 100 you spend you get a $ 5 rewards credit towards your next purchase! Also I think I may be getting a special birthday reward, but I won’t know what that is until my birthday next month: P
I got some samples of Oribe shampoo/​conditioner so I can’t wait to try those!
Overall, definitely recommend this store for harder to find brands!

I have to echo the sentiments of those below who wrote how rude and unprofessional the staff were here. I regret not getting the name of the woman who was trying to help me pick a lipstick color. I tried on two colors from the same brand, and they weren’t doing it for me. She seemed genuinely offended by this, and when I said «no thank you» to trying a third color, she became very belligerent and huffy — over lipstick!
I’m giving them one star for the girl that did end up helping me. She wasn’t rude or pushy at all. I grabbed one of my standby Laura Mercier lipsticks, she rang me up without attitude, and didn’t try to push more product on me.
The point of having a boutique-​style store IS the customer service. Personalized, helpful, and there to serve you as long as it takes.
I think their product selection is great, which accounts for the second star, but I certainly hope their staff is more courteous at other locations. There are a lot of other choices to buy product, and I’ll definitely go elsewhere next time.

Every time I’ve visited the Space N K in Brentwood, I’ve been promptly greeted by a friendly face. The staff here seems to have the right ethic with guest service. I work at a neighboring store & was able to cross promote with the help of the manager Rheana. She was extremely friendly & helpful. She was able to support our party along with our staff by presenting hand-​written notes & a small gift. Not only was this above & beyond our expectations, but all of our clients raved about their store & how lovely this was. You can expect to have this experience at each of your visits here.

Oh my goodness!!! Melissa is incredible, I mean incredible. If I were to rate this store before I met her I would not have given 5 stars, but I won’t go into that. I rarely review on Unilocal,but this woman needs to be recognized! She is bubbly and her passion for beauty is infectious. She is an encyclopedia of knowledge. She listened to me, sold me products that I love, answered all of my questions. The store was busy and she was able to help other guests and still continue to help me, she even did a demonstration with the Orbie dry shampoo for myself and two others and we all took it home. I didn’t evenknow I wanted a $ 42 dry shampoo and now I can’t live without it! I have worked in retail for many years and Melissa is a star. You need to clone her. She’s good for business and an example of great customer service.

Since I have been shopping for a lifetime– I know what I want– takes A LOT to impress me (and teach me something new!)

Rheana, the Store Manager and her team know A LOT about ingredients, best shades to pick, helpful techniques with color and skin care that give you the best results for you– how do they know all this? Best part: they listen and talk with you as if you are good friend! so refreshing– a true apothecary –this is THE place to shop

I first visited Space NK when I was in England, and loved their high quality only philosophy to the brands they select to carry, which turned me on to some lesser-​known lines like Malin + Goetz, and Japanese line Sai-​Sei.
I am an esthetician myself, and I love when a company prides itself on only carrying effective products. This is the philosophy behind Space NK, and it shows.
I made a visit to the Brentwood location, and all the sales associates were warm and friendly, and knew a great deal about products I asked about without ever once «pushing» a product or selling to me. I felt free to explore, and they were very honest about everything I took a look at.
When I finished my purchase, they signed me up for their email list and thanked me for my purchase. The girl who helped me (her name is slipping me, I apologize!) is also a licensed esthetician, which I love– it’s great to know Space NK has true professionals advising their customers.
All in all great shopping experience, I will be back.

The girl Rheana, who informed me she was a manager, was belligerent, argumentative and low class.
Considering the competition to sell beauty products in Santa Monica, that kind of obnoxious behavior is really surprising.
