Sweetgreen was/is in my lunch rotation in Downtown Santa Monica. I don’t go nearly as often as I’d like, mainly due to the unpredictable quality control issues they have in the pick-up area. My coworkers and I have had separate issues with our orders. Guacamole bowl lacks guacamole, lentil bowl lacks lentil, no soup when I ordered soup, etc. I’m willing to take some of the blame for not double checking my order, but to be honest, it shouldn’t be my job to ensure my order is correct. When you call their store regarding the mistake, no one picks up. Seriously… no one. I didn’t call just once. I called it several times. But yes, when you email them to complain, someone does respond in a few days and listen to your concerns. Not sure if the issues have been fixed, or preventative measures taken since I haven’t gone back. I will probably return at some point, but for now I won’t take any risks. I do like their salad options. My coworkers love the guacamole bowl, I’ve tried the sabzi, omega and lentil bowls. All are very good.

This Is my Favorite place ever! I always order build your own salad so you can select greens, veggies and protein as you like it Fresh produce(try kale and arugula) Tasty toppings(broccoli, sweet grape tomatoes, grilled onions, bell peppers, endives) For protein they have turkey, salmon, grilled chicken, and vegan options like baked falafel(not fried) and mushrooms Healthy choice in Santa Monica right next to the third street promenade

I enjoyed my lunch here for sure. It’s healthy food — largely a salad place. You can pick one of their suggested salads or build your own, and they have a large array of ingredients to choose from. I particularly liked the falafel balls and the spicy broccoli. I strongly suggest you buy a cup for their drink bar! When I was there they had a great selection: three delicious frescas(lemon, matcha, and something like ginger lime) and three iced teas(which included chamomile and jasmine). The interior is nice and modern, and the staff is friendly.

I’ve been a LONGTIME sweetgreen fan(I used to go on the east coast all the time). To say I was excited when I found out they were opening in Santa Monica is an understatement. This location is amazing. The staff is ridiculously friendly. The food is always consistent and delicious. There are plenty of seats(indoor and outdoor). It’s walking distance from 3rd St. Promenade and a ton of stores. I could go on and on. sweetgreen is so much more than«just a salad place.» It’s healthy, fresh, delicious and fun. Go, go, go people!

Super yummy and so friendly. Recommend for some healthy eats in Santa Monica. The portions are big and come with a slice of fresh made whole wheat sourdough bread.

Los Angeles, California– While strolling through Santa Monica we came across this mod spot with diners inside and out. Feeling a grumbling in our bellies we peeped the bowls of those outside, liked what we saw, and headed in for a taste. This place screams FRESH and its bustling which for us, is so satisfying. Thumbs up to health consciousness. In case you’re unaware of the season, the neon lights along the wall displays it for you. Currently«winter» is shown and to the right you’ll find a chalkboard filled with local love. Ingredients and their farm origin are itemized and it’s clear California farms have dominated. We are feeling good about eating local. As we waited in the super long line of fresh-minded sweetgreeners we looked at the menu hanging above that features greens and grains. I went with the hummus tahina greens minus dairy and my husband opted for the Portabella grains. Both were awesome and paired well with the included bread. Michal loved the kick of spice and the butternut squash and raw beets that were a part of his seasonal winter bowl. My dollop of hummus was the perfect dressing and topping for the warm bread. The possibilities are endless and those creative combos presented in the menu are super enticing. The staff are the … dressing on the salad. Ya, let’s roll with that because icing on the cake isn’t well suited for this spot. They smiled from our entry to exit, laughed with one another, and seemed to be having fun with flavorful mixology.

Sweetgreen is probably my favorite healthy go-to spot at the moment. I love that they have seasonal items! I really liked the Jon & Vinny salad they had for Fall, but now its gone :(This location is clean and the service was great. You can also park at the garage across the street for free(90 mins I think).

I really missed having a salad place around when I left the DC area. It was awesome to see that a sweetgreen opened in Santa Monica! There is one close to my home in Maryland and I used to go a lot. This sweetgreen is similar to the one near me, but looks a lot nicer! The food is fresh and good. I always make my own salads and like that I can mix greens and grains. They do not serve bacon here though! So sad.

Have been wanting to try this place for a while now and while staying at a friend’s in Santa Monica, I finally had the opportunity. First thing I noticed was the cleanliness and how nice the eatery is. It’s a very inviting atmosphere and somehow, you already know the food is going to be good and good for you without even giving the menu a first look. When you finally check out the menu, you’re probably going to have a hard time picking what you want to eat. I was having quite the issue, deciding what I wanted to eat. Luckily, Kenny, a manager at this location, came to the rescue. He asked if I liked avocado, which I do, then recommended I try the Guacamole Greens. Thank you for making my choice for me, Kenny. Mesclun, tomato, avocado, onion, lime, and jalapeño-vinaigrette all chopped and mixed into a bowl was delicious, refreshing, and surprisingly filling. I cannot wait to return, I think next I’m going to try the Kale Caesar on my return visit.

Love love love! I wish a location opened up in Orange County. I joined a few friends here and we each ordered a salad, soup, and drink of choice. I tried the Spicy Sabzi, which consisted of spicy tofu, broccoli, greens, sriracha, + lots more that I cant remember. It was definitely very flavorful, and so fresh! For my soup, I tried the butternut squash which was so creamy. Easily one of the best I’ve had. Location is great, staff is very friendly and they all made great suggestions because I could not decide which salad to choose. Its a difficult decision because they all sound so amazing! You can even build your own, which I’ll definitely do the next time I’m there! Overall, definitely worth trying!

Really like this place! I tried the Earth(something) made by Cammie(excellent customer service) and it was excellent! The staff lets you try the dressings and the fresh juice if you’d like. I wish there were one of these places near me to eat at on a daily basis. What an awesome alternative to the greasy burgers and beer we’ve all come to love. I recommend the carrot/chile dressing… it’s bitter and light. Free parking across the street for 90 minutes. I’ll be back!

I was elated to find this place on Unilocal and with all the great review, my expectations were pretty high, unfortunately they were not met. I found this place to be ok. I know it’s salad, what could I possible expect. Well I just assume that meant they were Vegan friendly. To me it makes sense… It took me forever to place my order because of course I had to make sure what I was ordering did not include any diary products. I thought this would be a easy task but unfortunately it proved to me more like a mission. No one preparing the food(not an exaggeration) had any knowledge of the ingredients. It took literal 15 minutes before I was provided with a few verified Vegan option. I just thought they would have known in advance what items could be offered as a Vegan option considering the nature of the establishment. The food was nothing special. I’ve made more hearty and tastier salad at home but then again I’ve had more practice prepping a Vegan salad so maybe there not to be blamed for that.

Since sweetgreen has come to California(originally from NYC I think), I’ve completely jumped on the bandwagon. I strive to eat healthy constantly, and this is basically the Chipotle of Salads. From really unique amazingly delicious options to a build your own, all the ingredients are fresh and they build the salad right in front of you. Some things I really like about sweetgreen in general include: calorie counts. Everything is portioned out by metal scoopers they seem to have created themselves, making me feel that the calories are accurate(really efficient business wise). taste: you would think, taste would be sacrificed but NO. taste is amazing, much better than most similar types(i.e. Chop Shop) price: incredibly affordable. on par with other places. One other thing to note; what I really LOVE about this place is that everyone that works there seems to really enjoy working there. Always smiling, very accomodating, nice and friendly. My boyfriennd wanted his salad split in two and they did everything as he asked, as he can’t eat such large portions and wanted to take it home for lunch the next day. They have a rewards program where if you refer a friend you both get $ 3 off which I’ve used multiple times. Only con I would say is the eating area itself is a bit small, and Im not a fan of the huge communal table in the middle. Otherwise, please go!

The Za’atar seasonal special was delicious! My first time experience here was great. I also tried the coconut orange mint water thing. was not so impressed but it was refreshing. Would definitely love to come back soon.

I love the concept of this place. You can’t go wrong with a build-your-own salad bar with tons of fresh ingredients, right? Well, after looking through their menu, none of their custom salad options sounded too great. So I thought I’d take the kale Cesar and add shrimp. I specifically said LIGHT dressing. To my disappointment, I was left with a heavily-dressed Cesar with WAY too much Parmesan(both grated and crispy) and shrimp that tasted like they were boiled in ocean water with no seasoning. I’ve never had such strange, fishy tasting shrimp in my life. I would advise you to STAYAWAY. I did appreciate the variety of ingredients but I truly think they went for quantity over quality. They also have fresh lime and seasonings at the end to top off your salad with. My mom also had an extraordinary mundane salad that I can’t even remember the name of but will provide a picture for. For just around the same price, Tender Greens will give you WAY better quality. Until I they make some serious quality upgrades, I’ll be making my own salads!

The salad competition in Santa Monica is stiff, and sweetgreen is better than average, but still not go-out-of-your-way-for-it amazing. It wasn’t too busy when I went on Saturday around 3(though I tried to go for dinner a couple weeks ago just before 9pm and it was closed, though the hours posted online say they’re open til 10). The ordering process was pretty smooth: choose something from the chalkboard menu or design your own salad. I tried a special seasonal salad, the za’atar, which was tasty and fresh but not something I’d go back and order. I’m sure I’ll be back since it’s so conveniently located, but I’ll be trying something else. I must say the bread that accompanied the salad was very tasty! Don’t skip it. A couple other plusses: all the ingredients looked and tasted fresh, and I like that nutritional info is offered.

Dropped by here with my sister after our intensati class with Patricia Moreno, and got our salad pretty quick. We shared a seasonal salad and got it made right in front of us. The seating area was cute and if you got a drink — continuous refills! Haha, if you could drink that much. Area was quite clean and they had a sign flashing that it was fall. We had no problems with having to substitute anything. Salad was pretty fresh and it was nice to mix the drinks. Would come again.

+3 stars for: location, healthful food, diversity of ingredients, cleanliness, and some of the most friendly food service workers I’ve ever met –2 stars for: wait times and ingredient quality(lacking in flavor) Great cheap workday lunch spot if you have time to wait in line. I’ve been twice now, and waited 25 – 30 minutes in line each time… however, once you get up to the counter, you’ll have your salad in around 5 mins or less. I can’t really say much about salads in a review — there’s not much to it! Unfortunately, though, I found the ingredients to lack any great flavor, especially the avocados. The dressings are ok – I would go «light» on the dressing at first, to get a sense of how much they squirt on. I usually go «medium» vs «heavy» and find my salad a bit too wet :(
