Have been coming here for the last few weeks and I can’t have an acai bowl anywhere else now it’s so good! It’s the right balance between sweet and earthy, and they let you customize the ingredients which is a plus in my book.

Funny, last time I was in town I was wishing there would be better options for acai bowls in the area… Enter The Hive. A Very yummy bowl… Nice because there’s and endless combination of toppings and base combinations– you can change it up every time– or not. The sunflower seeds and cocoa nibs did not go as well together as I hoped, but loved the mulberry’s! All natural, I appreciated it not being overly sweet– and it can be as sweet as you’d like with the addition of your choice of syrup. A great addition to Santa Monica.

I came back with my husband to give Hive another try. I was pleasantly surprised! I paid more attention to the menu because some entrees include very intense foods(think tempeh, coconut wraps, etc) those flavors are acquired tastes even for the health conscious crowd. We both tried the power burrito and loved it. It was seasoned perfectly, the texture of the walnut meat was great and the salsa was super fresh and definitely tasted homemade. The menu has a variety of healthy choices including some vegan though mostly animal based foods. Half of the menu is beverage based making this spot half juice bar half café. Overall a good experience but not your typical brunch spot.

I’ve always enjoyed coming here but sadly today’s order was unimpressive. I ordered a custom dragonfruit bowl with fruit(strawberries bananas golden berries and mulberries) as toppings. My order came without the mulberries as I asked. The cashier did seem a bit preoccupied when taking our orders. I also added golden berries to the bowl(something new) after the cashier told me they were less sweet as mulberries and more subtle. I don’t know if our taste buds are different but the berries were wayyyy to tart(like sucking a lemon) making the bowl almost inedible. Too hungry to ask for a remake with the mulberries I originally asked for so I just ate around the golden berries. Considering the high price for these bowls it was a bit of a disappointment not getting my full money’s worth. Hopefully next time will make up for it!

Boyfriend and I came here for the kombucha. Growler for $ 6 +$ 8 to fill with kombucha, they had maybe four flavored(blueberry, cherry, pineapple, and something else). Nice staff but slow service, overall will return.

Wanted some acai bowl and so we found this place on Unilocal. The feel of the place is like any other acai place now. Hip and filled with a bunch of people who just came from yoga. Nice atmosphere though. We got the acai bowl with strawberries, banana, granola, and honey. The strawberries were really good. But unfortunately the consistency of the acai itself was a little too smooth. It needed to be a little less mixed in the blender.

I’ve had nothing but good experiences here. Great food and drinks. You can order via the OrderAhead app and the service is great. I keep on coming!

YUM! Love the healthy options you can choose from to customize your acai bowl. We chose strawberries, blueberries, granola, and pumpkin seeds. Can’t wait to go back!

I came here for breakfast and had a acai-based bowl topped with banana, granola, banana, strawberry, coconut shreds and bee pollen. It was veeery delicious and healthy! I loved the organic choices the Hive provides, and you can DIY your own breakfast bowl by choosing a base, toppings and sweeteners. A bit pricey but def worth every penny. Recommend it!

My new favorite acai bowl place. They have so much to choose from. All their options are great! I got a dragon fruit bowl and my sister got an acai bowl. I loved mine! It was so yummy! I also tried her acai and it was definitely the best I have ever had! I’m getting acai next time forsure!

They do not pick up the phone when they are busy. Granola is yuck– obviously store bought with the rice crispies I dont care for. The chia pudding bowl is way too big, it should be half the size and cut the price too($ 15?)

I came here today and was delighted to see they have lots of vegan options on their menu. There are some menu options like what I had(the Superfood Taco Salad) that come with cheese but I asked to get it without the cheese, that was no problem since they prepare the food when you order it. The salad was delicious! The only thing I would change about it would be to lessen the amount of oil on the dressing that comes with it. The place has a cool ambiance and the staff is really nice. I will definitely be back soon!

Smoothie bowls here are delicious. I would recommend the dragonfruit base. They also offer a variety of drinks and wheatgrass shots! Nice ambiance too.

Don’t miss out! You need to eat here! If you care about your health, even a little bit, eat at the hive. Everything they make is organic, locally sourced and absolutely delicious. I’m addicted to their bowls. Made however you like. Yogurt, amazing fruits and alternative forms of sweetness if that’s your thing. Drop by for a juice, smoothie or full meal and you’ll leave with a full belly, a happy heart and more than likely a new friend in their rad staff. Food for thought: they deliver!

My girl, and I stopped by while walking around the area. We tried the green hornet, and were blown away by the quality of the shake. Super healthy ingredients, and the shake itself was dense, cool, and refreshing. I am thinking they blend the ingredients which means you don’t lose the helpful vegetable fiber like you do with most main-stream juicers. We weren’t that hungry so we didn’t have a chance to try anything else on the menu, but it all looked delicious and healthy. The place itself has a really nice ambiance, and they have a large amount of space. They offer free wifi to customers as well, so its a great place to swing by and grab something healthy and relax right after the gym, or if you just want something a little less hectic than a starbucks to study. One minor issue I had with them was that some of the tables were unoccupied, but still had trash /puddles on them from prior customers. The place wasn’t that busy so there seemed to have been ample time to wipe them down.

This healthy café is a fantastic addition to the 3rd street promenade! A super healthy and clean eats spot that is great is definitely something I will rave about. The Hive offers fresh acai or pitaya bowls or acai or greek yogurt, juices or smoothies, and healthy sandwiches or salads. The menu is extensive and everything is organic(according to the menu). They also offer extremely unique healthy snacks and packed drinks. The interior is super clean with cute bee hive art around the café. We came specifically to get the acai bowls but I will definitely come back to try other things from the menu. The acai or red dragon bowl is $ 10 and you get to pick your own toppings which I really liked. I got the red dragon bowl with, blueberries, goji berries, hazelnuts, walnuts and coconut nectar. I truly love the ingredients that the Hive offers!!! This bowl combo is antioxidant, vitamin c, omega 3 packed meal. I’m craving another one soooo badly as I write this review! Everything in my bowl was so incredibly fresh and delicious! Jon T and Jon L ordered the acai bowl with granola, hazel nuts, strawberry and banana with honey or syrup. They didn’t enjoy their bowls as much due to it ended up being a togo size because they ran out of glass bowls and their portion was noticeably different than what I got. The manager or owner was extremely nice and attentive towards all the customers. I highly highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to get a healthy, clean, organic meal.

Honey, I’m home! What a wonderful find, just a little out of the way from the businesses of Santa Monica. We were craving acai bowls and came across this haven of organic goodness. What’s more LA than juice flights? Two of us checked in for the free yellow jacket shot but the cashier brought out a third so the friend without the Unilocal app didn’t feel left out. My friend took a video of our morning shots and I unexpectedly choked just as much as I would have hammering down a shot of tequila. The taste of ginger was really overwhelming. I polished off my friends’ spoonfuls of bee pollen because I was having a really hard time trying to swallow the rest. None for the faint of heart although it’s probably good for us, but these places get so convoluted with their list of ingredients that at some point you just got lost in the menu and go with whatever has more LA-quintessential words like«kale» and«hemp seeds» and«goji berries». The acai bowl was berry delicious. I went with a pretty classic custom-made bowl with acai, bananas, strawberries, granola, agave and hemp seeds. It was really top-notch! Very fresh ingredients in a healthy and filling portion. I definitely would come back for another and bring friends from out of town. The menu alone is a tourist attraction. Bone broth, kombucha on tap, superfood tapas — these are the LA buzzwords that make The Hive the sweet spot it is.

Definitely a nice place to get some work done and have a healthy meal! I’ve only been once but I really enjoyed the acai bowl I had with pineapple and banana. A good portion, definitely delicious but I found it to be overpriced when my total came to $ 14 — I’ve had equally good, if not better bowls in the area for a few bucks cheaper so that’s my biggest complaint. Oh that, and that it was FREEZING inside. I mean, it’s mostly cold food you’re serving here, hard to enjoy when it’s 50 degrees inside your restaurant. Okay, it was probably high 60’s but this is Santa Monica and my blood’s too thin for anything under 70… :) Otherwise, friendly workers, delicious food, clean space and comfortable seating.

I believe that my words upon leaving were«I could eat here every day.» There are so very many delicious options here. They even have healthier energy drinks! All of the munchy items by the cash register were calling my name(cookies!) but I had to limit myself during this trip. On this occasion I ordered a custom Kombucha drink with ginger, kale, and cherry(yeah for cherry!) and then an acai bowl with bananas, goji berries, granola, and cocoa nibs. And for checking in on Unilocal,I also received a free Guardian Bee shot. As others have mentioned, you need to have a bit of courage and a tolerance for hot food to consume that little item. It’s got ginger and a good deal of cayenne pepper so it did burn all the way down and continued to do so within my stomach. A few bites of my acai bowl took care of that though and I felt better for having boosted my immune system for that day. :-) As for my Kombucha drink, I enjoyed the flavor quite a bit. You don’t really see cherry as a flavor option most places so I happily took advantage. I did notice that the Kombucha was less effervescent than the bottled kind you can buy at the store. And at $ 10, it’s a bit on the spendy side to be a regular item for me. But I’ll indulge once in a while to try different flavor combinations. The acai bowl was very yummy and incredibly filling. I could only finish half during my visit and had to take the rest home. I enjoy being able to create my own combination, which I haven’t seen at many other restaurants. If I were to have one request, it would be to add additional fruit options such as blueberries and blackberries. That being said, I definitely intend on coming back soon to have another acai bowl and try some of the additional munchies.

I came here for The Hive’s Acai Bowls! I love the DIY aspect of it — here’s the process: *Pick A Base(acai, chia pudding, greek yogurt) *Pick Two Crunches(almonds, granola, pumpkin seeds, hazelnuts, pecans, hemp seeds, macadamia, cacao nibs) *Pick Two Fruits(strawberries, bananas, dried cranberries, white mulberries, goji berry, goldenberry) *Pick a Sweetener(honey, coconut nectar, maple syrup, bee pollen) This is the first time I’ve had coconut nectar! Tasty. The Acai itself was pretty good. Boyfriend complained it was small compared to Earth Bar, which is true. The acai is $ 9 and maybe half the size of Earth’s $ 9.99 one. But, tasty nonetheless!

The kid LUVS this joint! I’d rather not pay $ 14 for a sandwich, but I should mention that the little hunnie minding the front is lovely. It’s also pretty quiet inside — with one long open and available booth — so could possibly be a great place to get some work done on the ol’ laptop. They also have some great bits our local Santa Monica vegans will appreciate: kombucha on tap(seriously), Louis Vuitton matcha, fun skin-care serums and creams and scrubs… I expect we’ll see one Mr. Balzary in here soon.
