Toni L Long, MD

I found Dr. Long when I first moved back to L.A. in the early 90’s. I felt so lucky to find her because she 1) was funny/​put me at ease instantly, 2) told it like it was (no drama), and 3) was incredibly smart (always able to give the full story on any option I was considering — never, ever felt like she was anything less than supremely informed), and 4) was just a lovely person (not even slightly cold or doctorly — more like mother earthy without the crunchy granola).
When her office stopped taking insurance I was devestated because I couldn’t afford it. I had many years of not so great, not so bad experiences which culminated in one horrid experience where the doctor was saying I needed to have a biopsy. In my heart of hearts I knew this was not necessary, but wanted to hear it from the Truth Teller, Toni Long!
So, I called her Santa Monica office and clenched my teeth as I asked how much a cash visit would cost. Then somehow, online MIRACULOUSLY I found that Dr. Long has a SECOND OFFICE in Indian Wells where she would be soon taking my insurance. I waited, made an appointment and just had the best gyno visit of my life with her a couple of weeks ago. She went over ALL my records for the last several years, and addressed each and every issue — meticulously and with great care — that the previous ob/​gyn had botched.
If you want a gynocologist who will tell you like it is, who will give you the most educated and loving care you could possibly want, and who will give you a few laughs to take the edge off of the uncomfortability inherent in gynecological issues/​visits/​concerns, you have found your woman here.
And, she looks exactly the same as she did when I last saw her about 12 years ago, to boot! She is just lovely all the way through. I can’t more highly recommend an ob/gyn…and I’ve had many!
P. S. I live almost two hours away from Indian Wells, but the drive is lovely and if you’re only going once a year you can make a little adventure of it if you, too, are far away. If you live in Santa Monica, then she is in your back yard and you shouldn’t even blink with hesitation if you are looking for a great gyno!
