Shitty bartenders, all ego, dont give a crap about you kinda mentality. I hear the owner is a real hard ass nazi and thats why all the security guys have sticks up their ass 24⁄7. Its a place to go when youre smashed and all the other good places close. But then you get here and they make you fuckin wait in line. What the crap dudes.

Gary’s Belvedere is a classic! It’s an older Santa Rosa establishment that not that many people know about. Garys Belvedere is inviting with a juke box, pool table and outdoor seating area. General Manager Carla Crawford is very friendly and keeps the Belvedere in great shape! Gary’s Belvedere is an awesome bar and the food never disappoints either! –Gary Crawford San Francisco

Surprisingly, there aren’t many late night places to get a drink around Santa Rosa. The Belvedere is an old, local establishment that often flies under the radar. The bar is found on the ground level of an old Victorian home with a restaurant located on the upper level. It’s a homey feeling bar that has pool tables, juke box, and an outdoor patio. Kevin and Eric have been tending bar there for years and they definitely know how to pour a mean drink! Love this place.

Kaylena was effing awesome. We got our drinks and she served us our food promptly and professionally. She was working on her own and crushed it. The best.

The reason why this place gave my friend and I such a bad experience was the bouncer. He had this attitude from the beginning that totally set a bad vibe from the moment we entered the bar and the moment we left. When you go to this bar, you could see a couple of pool tables and the bar area. Fortunately, we found some empty stools to sit. It took a little bit for the bartender to get to us even though there wasn’t a lot of patrons. I got a Corona and decided to leave right after finishing it. This was definitely not my scene… As soon as we left, the bouncer told my friend that he shouldn’t have a good night. How disrespectful was that?

So I’ve been coming to this bar on and off again for the past 10 years. Not once have I ever seen a sign, or have I seen ANYOFTHESECURITY checks women’s bags ever. I spoke to the security and owner about it because at the end of the day THEOWNERWASRACIALPROFILING. The security guy thinks he knows me and has power which is ridiculous. He may be going by QUOTEONQUOTERULES, but there are NOSIGNSABOUTMEN’S BAGSBEINGCHECKED. I was born and raised in Sonoma County and I have a house here and I live and work in SF. I have never heard such atrocities before in my life from this bar. I and my friends were shocked about this new rule. I’m half Black and half Chinese and I dress like everyone else who comes to the bar to socialize with their friends. If these SOCALLEDRULESEXISTPOSTTHEM. I am not going to forget this. This prejudice experience was 1÷16÷2016

Love this place, used to go all the time when I lived closer… if you like going out to play some pool or just hanging out with friends while chilling/having a drink then this place is a must. .has a cozy atmosphere always busy on the weekends and 4 pool tables… kind of reminds me of going to a house party at times. .during the day it’s regulars are there shooting pool, which is usually an older crowd. The drinks are good but beware on weekends the line to the door can get long and there are always cops near closing time to get their dui quotas of the night. .but definitely a place to at least try..

Bouncers said it was too crowded when there was literally 3 open tables visibly from the front entrance. There were 4 people in our group and when we entered the bar, the belve was not anywhere near being packed. Fat guy with the beard at the entrance is on a power trip. Worst bar ever

Please stay away from this bar. Most people that work at the bar are mostly meat headed brutes with no sense of human emphany. They are just waiting gleefully to show force whenever theirnfalse sense of authority is questioned. They are not held accountable for their actions. They owner and fellow coworkers always take the side of the employee and will outright lie.

Poorly staffed. They do not seem to understand what kind of bar they want to be. It smells like a dive but is worse once you get in.

I spend many Friday and Saturday nights here. Love to sit on the porch outside and chat with friends. There is also pool tables and air hockey. It’s a great place to hang with friends in a laid back environment. It’s definitely a dive bar but that’s why we love it. You can also get great food from joeys upstairs. It’s a good chill place

Bartenders are the best! Door guys are chill! Patio is the coziest thing in SR bar scene! Weekends are a total shitshow, weekdays are chill and full of regulars. Definitely a ‘scene’ in the way that it is. Pizza may be some of the best in the entire bay area to be honest and the sundae is of epic proportions. This place is REAL.

I really want to give this place more stars, it has so much good going for it. Let me get the bad out of the way. It smells like puke. Maybe they need to clean the carpets? Whatever it is, it hits your nose like a wrecking ball the second you walk in and will invade your head at the worst times throughout the night. Thats a closer for me, I can’t relax and enjoy myself in a pool of vomit. I have been 3 times over almost 3 months and its still there, so its obviously not a priority for the management to fix this issue. There are pool tables, a large outside area for chilling and smoking if you want, also you can avoid the puke smell here! Great food, especially the pizza. However, if you order a slice, expect it to take about 25 – 30 minutes if its crowded. Also, we went there one time and were not allowed in because it was at capacity, but not that crowded. Whatever that means, it could ruin your night if thats your plan so maybe call the bar ahead of time. Its in this charming old victorian house and the staff are friendly. Its homey and there’s a nice older lady who seems to be the house mom and walks around outfits such as sequined leopard print and clears up dishes and asks you how you are doing so you feel like your at a friends house with the coolest mom ever. Somewhere you can go alone and feel comfortable or theres always good looking people there if you want to be social. Also a jukebox, which is a must for me.

It’s pretty rad. Sometimes I get drunk here. Being a bar that means it’s doing it’s job.

Good place to get a drink, if like me, your days off are during the week and all the other bars in downtown Santa Rosa close. The patio area is large enough to accommodate many people. Pool tables and other games become available fast. Plus with Joey’s pizza above it that can be ordered from the bar or the waitress that walks around the bar.

Disappointed! I really love the owners, but after the bouncers close the doors at one you can only enter if you’re a cute girl or «home boy“and you’ll get in. Julius literally let the girls in front of us and the«homeboy Alex» behind us in, we could not return. Did love this bar but the staff can really make the difference in having a terrible experience. Won’t be coming back anytime soon which is to bad because it was an all time favorite place what happened to mark and Mano they were the best.

Next to The Nutty Irishman, The Belvedere has been my go to spot for a night out in Santa Rosa for YEARS.(Ok, ok for almost a decade) I think it’s remained one of my favorite spots because it attracts a good crowd and I haven’t witnessed any fights; I feel relatively safe here. They have a bouncer at the door to keep the unfavorables out, and they do just that. They made my boyfriend take off his hat before entering(and questioned me on my legitimate ID) but I understand it’s what they have to do. I keep coming back. I really like their bar and that’s where I end up spending most of my time. They have a big wraparound bar with seats so there is plenty of room, as well as quite a few tables to sit and talk at around the bar area. This takes up half of the inside and the other half has pool tables which I have never been too fond of. There is also a large outside patio which you can hangout and drink on, but they do allow smoking in it, so unless you want to smell like you just smoked a pack, I would stay away. Bathrooms are ok, relatively clean. I will keep coming back to The Belvedere as long as I look young enough to still fit in with the 20’s crowd. So, only time will tell.

Every girl needs a local, this is something my older sister taught me many years ago, the Bel has been one of my locals for many years. No matter where I live in the county I always find my way back to the Bel. Great drink… but let’s face it, the drink is only as good as the bartender making it, look for Trisha. she rocks! If she’s behind the bar you are ALWAYS guaranteed a great drink. I don’t play pool, but appreciate that it is there for those who do. As for food… you don’t go to the Bel to eat, it is just an add on. Decent, not great pizza, good wings, big and meaty, delivered to your bar table. can’t get much better than that. So last night we spontaneously met a couple of friends for a drink, which let to two, and a shared pizza and wings, we were all happy. Thanks Trisha for making our Monday night the very best night so far this week!

I just don’t see this place as a dive bar — not classified correctly in my opinion. Later evenings it’s college crowd — not the idiot zone like some college bars, but decent young people not fighting or causing trouble. And earlier I’ve seen more 30s, 40s, and 50 something’s — casual and trendy is what call it. There’s plenty of parking, they have food upstairs and will come down, take your order and serve you. Reasonably decent bar area, pool tables, and comfortable outside seating. Plus it’s in the bottom of a beautiful old Victorian building. There are plenty of TV’s to watch different sports, a cool handicap friendly circle bar — it’s great because the bartender’s floor is below your side — so I get to sit in a comfortable chair instead of an uncomfortable stool. The bartenders are all cool that I’ve come across. The girls are cute, smart, and make good cocktails and Kevin is one of the best in the area. My only gripe is there is no draught beer — I DON’T DRINKBEEROFTENBUTWHEN I DO — I WANTITCOLDANDONDRAUGHT.
