Janis is the BEST! Literally every time she cuts my hair I am complimented on it for months. I’ve had my hair cut by her for years and will not go to anyone else. It also doesn’t hurt that the salon is beautiful, and that they have vegan cookies & tea out every time I’m there. 5 stars!

Esther is the best hairstylist I have ever had. I love my hair ever since I started going to her over four years ago. I have very thick and kind of difficult hair, so I’ve always been serious about who styles it, because it can easily look completely terrible, and get very dry and damaged. in both San Francisco and Marin County over the years, I’ve paid a premium to work with good stylists with strong reputations. Since discovering Esther through a friend with amazing hair who’s been going to her for over 12 years, I now drive from Marin to Santa Rosa every eight weeks because I love the cut and color Esther does for me so much. The highlights she gives me are gorgeous. With Esther, I have sometimes enjoyed smoothing Keratin treatments to wear my challengingly-​textured wavy hair in a straighter style, but recently she gave me a wonderful new style so I can enjoy my natural curls. She has shown over the years that she can implement new styles whenever I’m in the mood to change it up, and has also been very frank with me when I’ve suggested styles which would be too much work to maintain, and/​or are just completely wrong for my type of hair — which does all kinds of crazy things when it’s not cut properly for its type of curl and thickness. Steering me away from making a big mistake is one of the most important things a professional stylist can do, and many are too timid to guide their clients, when they know they would benefit from their professional viewpoint. For this reason, as well as the incredible results every time I go to her, I recommend her to everyone I know. Esther is simply the most expert, talented and extraordinary hair stylist I’ve ever known, and I’m extremely grateful to her for my beautiful cut and color.

Just to clarify, I did NOT want the highlights. I was asked at the time of booking if I wanted them and I said no, I did not. I tipped the stylist because that is the right thing to do. My objection to this appointment was that Janis did what she thought was best, not what I asked for. Lesson learned.

I’ve been going to Esther for 19 years and I have NEVER been able to find a hair dresser more talented and consistent with their work than her. From Ireland to San Diego no one has compared. I would drive up to Santa Rosa from San Diego for years to get my hair colored/​cut. She always respects how much I want cut off and what color I want. If you want a professional and skilled hair dresser, go to Esther. You won’t be disappointed!

To update, it has now been 2 weeks since my «haircut» though calling it a haircut is a stretch. What it looks like is a hatchet job. Crooked, choppy, uneven, horrible. It is impossible to style or put up in a pony — it just looks horrible no matter what. I had cervical fusion about a year and a half ago, so I have limited range of motion and constant pain. That’s the reason my hair was long and «unstyled» — it is physically painful to even try to blow dry my hair, lean back for a salon wash, or be pulled during staying. I thought I was pretty clear on this fact with Ester.
Even after 2 weeks it is still upsetting to look in the mirror. Insult upon injury, Ester never bothered to return my call or respond to my review — not that she could offer any solution to this, but an acknowledgment or apology would have been appreciated. Which leads me to think she hacked me on purpose, though I can’t imagine what I may have done to elicit such vengeful behavior.
When you are trusting someone with your hair they should respect that trust, no matter what their personal feelings might be. So beware, if Ester is having a bad day… you might have to pay the price.

This is my go-​to hair salon in Santa Rosa! I actually decided to come here because I used to go to a salon of the same name in another town and I was feeling sentimental and this felt familiar to me. I go to Heather — she’s really nice and cuts my hair just how I want, so obviously I’ll keep coming back. I used to have extremely tangly hair and a good, layered haircut here fixed that right up.
I like the building and the location, and what’s funny is that my boyfriend really, really loves the lobby/​waiting area because he think’s it’s nice and relaxing — he likes that there is coffee & tea and a comfy chair to hang out and read/​play on his smartphone while he waits. «I didn’t know salons were like this!» he said. lol. He actually looks forward to going to the salon and will remind me to go get my hair cut because of this.
I like that there is parking in the back, so that’s one less thing to worry about.

Sheila gave me exactly the haircut I wanted. In fact, it is better than I thought it would look. I asked her for a haircut that looks good messy, choppy bangs and some layering to bring out my curls. My hair is perfect!
I don’t live in Santa Rosa, but I will definitely be scheduling my visits to the in-​laws around haircuts with Sheila. Love!

I love the lay out of this Salon– what a great way to use a beautiful house– each area feels intimate and quiet– you can have a conversation without feeling like you’re telling 10 other people about your life! Susan Sarah is great to work with– she always listens and responds to my input. She was able to see a look for me without me knowing what that was! Thank God — that’s what I want in a hair stylist– someone who can see my best look and enhance it with their expertise.

I’ve been having Janis do my haircut and color for years and I constantly get compliments. She does a consistently amazing job. I enjoy our conversations and I also love the beauty and décor of the salon itself. It’s always upbeat and sophisticated. I look forward to my visits.

Most disappointed in hair stylist & the cut she gave. I was looking forward to getting a good, stylish hair cut based on reviews of salon. But what I got was a mess! First & last time I will go to this salon. I made the mistake by not asking point blank if stylist was proficient in cutting short hair but didn’t. Anyway, she talked as if she knew about short hair & I trusted her & the shop. I walked out of salon looking like I had cut my hair myself. I do not recommend this salon for people who have short hair. It will take me months to get hair back in shape… months!

I came here to see Molly last Friday for the first time. Molly was super sweet, easy to talk to and made me super comfortable. She did an amazing job weaving my hair and cutting it. It was the night before halloween and she even gave me some non permanent hair chalk to go with my costume! Her blow out and styling were also top notch! I’ve been to 3 different hair dressers since moving here two years ago and she was definitely the best. Can’t wait to go back!

I Esther she’s is the best hair dresser ever! She’s been cutting my hair for at least 10 years probably longer though! I would never allow anyone else to ever cut my hair and color! we always have fun conversations! Laugh and chat and laugh some more! The salon is super cool and lots is great products and also great prices I love Esther and salon is awesome!

I am a retired (but still licensed) hairdresser, so I am particularly aware of what a good haircut looks like. The owner, Janis, cut my hair. First, we sat down and talked about my hair and what I wanted., and she understood exactly what I was looking for and she gave me the best haircut that I have ever had! Usually, I have to wait a month or two for it to grow out to the length I wanted. I always come home and find strands of hair that are too long, or uneven, or too blunt and need feathering and I have to fix it myself. ALWAYS!
This haircut was perfect! Janis is very sweet and friendly and she already feels like an old friend.
The salon is drop dead gorgeous too. It is very clean, luxurious and well maintained.
I finally found the perfect hairdresser and the most beautiful salon in Santa Rosa.
I recommend it highly. I would give 10 stars if I could.

This review is for Molly: After getting my hair hacked at various salons around town, I finally feel like I have found my stylist at Pomegranate! I am very particular about my hair and having lighter hair color really shows the inadequacies of lesser quality cuts. Molly promptly greeted me with a smile and welcomed me into the salon. I won’t go anywhere else…

I’ve been seeing Molly for a few years now and absolutely love her! She is always so helpful with deciding styles and colors. My hair feels amazing after she does it. And she is such an awesome, sweet person to talk to while I’m in the chair.

I have been going to this salon for the past 8 or 9 years. Esther is a genius on color! She mixes and whips up concoctions that I never would have thought of. I get so many compliments on my hair color! I really appreciate that she doesn’t push any style and respects how you want your hair to be. I highly recommend this salon!!! The only down side is it is a bit pricey… but then you get what you pay for, right?

Had my hair cut and colored and have never been here before, not only was the women that did my hair really nice but the perfecrt hair dresser. i felt in such a comfort zone that i would not go any where else. plus their studio is amazingly christmasy and comfortablt that i want to stay all day!

I have been going to Esther for the past 13 years to get my hair cut and highlighted – before she even opened Pomegranate Salon! I absolutely love this place and while I have lived in Los Angeles for the past 5 years, I fly up to Santa Rosa to get my hair done here. Esther always does a fabulous job and I get so many compliments on my hair. She is very concerned with keeping my hair looking and feeling healthy – something stylists at other salons aren’t always concerned with.
Pomegranate Salon is a nice and relaxing environment to get your hair done and everyone who works here is very friendly and welcoming. No stuck up or snobby attitudes here!
