The deli employees are the most unfriendly group! It’s like they hate being there and hate people!

Overcharged $ 23 for one half sandwich and one full sandwich and two coffees. Took 15 minutes to get the order placed and then they still screwed up the order. Food was cold and had been sitting for a long time. Finally after hearing the gal call number 83 and 84 several times, I went to ask about my order. It was number 93 and 94! The person couldn’t read or speak english. Finally got my Cold tuna melt but no coffees. I asked and got two Styrofoam cups tossed to me with a «here!». I wanted to smack the %=÷÷! out them. Will NEVER return to that dump!

Dudleys seems to have changed over the years. The bakery selection is very limited. They have a deli that seems to be popular. The sandwiches are okay.

Fresh baked bread and sandwiches! This place is easy to get in and out of and their restroom is clean! It’s a huge bakery and restaurant with a little gift shop inside. Right off of the main road and cross street towards Lake Henshaw. There are small paintings inside and historic pieces that will keep you interested. I’ll be back for sure if I’m in the area.

Dudley’s is a classic stop to Julian or on your way back. Been here so many times. Some people use to make a drive all the way here just for bread and go home ITSTHATGOOD! You’ll find locals and tourists, campers, motorcyclists, limos, everyone stops here. They have a fantastic deli, gift shop, a huge Christmas tree right when you walk in, a refrigerated to go section for a quick snack, drinks, and then you enter the back of the store into their bakery. Luckily we had no line this time. I recommend getting up there early when they open. A sweet older lady was helping us and was admiring our son. She told us the Date nut raisin bread was their most popular for 52 years. And if you buy 4 you get 1 free. I said wow that’s a lot of bread. She told us you can always freeze it for up to 6 months. Sold! So we picked out jalapeño cheddar gourmet buns, jalapeño cheddar sliced bread, Asiago cheese black olive dinner rolls, and fruit bars pack. I’m bummed they didn’t have my favorite jalapeño dinner rolls but I understand they are popular find with the chunks of cheese and jalapeños in them. This just means sandwiches for days. Maybe grill up some sliders and burgers with the buns. Or French toast with the raisin bread. There’s so much you can do with bread. You can’t go wrong unless it’s not part of your diet. Overall, stop here for something to eat or take the bread home with you. It can’t be beat. Best bread evvveerrrrr!

Buy 4 breads, rolls, or fruit bars(mix & match) get 1 free! What a deal, especially since you will most likely leave Dudley’s with a lot of goodies! Date Nut Raisin — Best seller for a reason! It is so good! Rosemary Olive Oil — I love toasting a slice & dipping it in extra olive oil, a great snack for when you have a wine night or as an appetizer for dinner. Famous Fruit Bars = Raisins, honey, cinnamon, & molasses. Chewy & delicious! Apple Walnut Cinnamon Bars — Yum!

This bakery is famous. But don’t let its reputation fool you. You walk in to a plethora of Over priced jewelry; although there were multiple pieces I would have liked to take home. The staff was busy and indifferent in the baking department although the staff at the jewelry counter was very helpful. I waited the long drive home to taste the legendary pie. BUT… It lacked sugar, was extremely tart and unappetizing other than the sugar coated puff pastry. I wouldn’t eat this pie ever again if someone paid me to do it. However their breads are decent.

There’s a reason this place is always crowded. Amazing bread and apple pie. I have friends who will drive here from San Diego just to get their baked goods here

I’m a Cheese Whore… Cheddar, Brie, Gouda, Goat, Feta, Mozzarella, Gruyère, Fontina, Camembert, Parmesan, Romano, Edam… I love them all and they love me… Dudley’s make two lovely cheese breads: Buffalo Blue Cheese and Jalapeño Cheddar. FACTS: Buffalo Blue Cheese: 1.5g fat &170mg sodium per slice… yikes! Jalapeño Cheddar: 4.5g fat &420mg sodium per slice… Sweet Fatty Geezus! :( To put that into perspective, the American Heart Association recommends no more than 1500mg/day, unless you’ve sweated it out(exercise or hard labor)…And the FDA says don’t go over 2300mg/day, or under 1500 if you’re age 50+…yikes! So if you’re an out-of-shape Cheese Whore, go with the Buffalo Blue Cheese… and I think it tastes better anyway.

For our second tour stop with Pasadena City College, we were in Santa Ysabel, and they have two pie shops here — Dudley Bakery and Julian Pie Company(on the other side of the parking lot). Didn’t really get a chance to browse thru Dudleys since I only had 10mins to spare, but the place smelled divine and delicious. They got your assorted apple pies as well as savory sandwiches that you can eat on the road or in there. They even got a gift shop too! Practically, your one stop shop, lol! Very cute place, just bummed that 30mins are long enough!

When heading to Julian it’s a must to stop by for bread & sweets. I always get bread for family & friends. They have a great selection of breads, rolls, strudels, sweets, jams, etc. I don’t have a favorite one because it’s hard to choose just one. But, you can buy 4 loaves and get one free. The average price is about $ 6 for bread, but it’s definitely worth every penny. There’s is a deli inside, so you can pick up a hearty sandwich. Also, there is a cute gift shop with art, crafts, & jewelry.

Back again this year, except we were not smart enough to come early in the day. Most of the bread was gone, but the staff was still friendly as ever. They’re always so sweet to the kids, and we swooped up a couple of loaves of bread that were left. We love Dudleys I’m always stop by when we’re in town.

This place is a MUST when in Ramona or going to Julian! Their Irish potato bread is to die for!!! Every single time I go to Julian for the snow I just have to stop and pick some up! It’s true that it’s a tiny bit expensive… But that’s because it is sooooo amazing! The Irish potato bread is great for sandwiches, grilled cheese, and my favorite way… Simply lightly toasted and covered in butter! They have a huge selection of different baked goods! And I great gift shop. The gift shop has a ton of really pretty jewelry and unique rock/shell/nature stuff. They also have a deli sandwich area, I’ve never ordered anything from there but from what I hear it’s good!

Dudley’s Bakery is a must stop if you are ever in Santa Ysabel and hungry or you just want a great cup of coffee. The deli is one of San Diego’s best and has been around since 1963. They make all of their own unique breads daily. Gourmet recipes that include everything from Asiago Cheese to Sun Dried Tomato, my favorite is anything Sourdough. In reading about the history of the bakery, I was amazed to learn that the original owner and name sake, Dudley Pratt, would take two months off each summer to explore Europe in search of new bread recipes that he would then bring back to San Diego and recreate for his patrons– that level of dedication and magic still shines through today. I can only imagine how incredible the bakery must smell each morning as the ovens are fired up and the loaves turn golden brown before the sun raises over the mountains. I know it may sound silly, but Dudley’s is more like art than just baking — it really is that good. Whatever the occasion, when I’m in the area, I stop by to check out the specials and I at least get some deserts which are every bit as good as the breads. If you can, a stop by Dudley’s is always a good call.

This shop has an extensive selection of sliced breads that you have to try if you are in this area. The date nut bread is one that you can’t find anywhere else, with a good amount of dates and walnuts. I also got the rosemary olive oil bread, which has a beautiful aroma even through the packaging. The shop is kinda dinky and in the middle of nowhere, but if you are driving through that way anyways, you should stop and get a loaf of bread. And they have a good selection of baked goods in the display by the counter as well, which I wasn’t able to try

If you haven’t had their baked goods, then you aren’t a San Diegan. I have been stopping here with my family since I was a wee lass and the place was a fourth of the size it is now. We would wait in line forever to get their potato bread and their cinnamon raisin. I still love those, but I LOVE their spicy breads even more. They make GREAT sandwiches and/or tartines. They have really good sweets in their displays too, or you can just stop in and have them make you a sandwich to your specifications. Note: If you are coming up here on a weekend, make sure you stop in early. They sell out of EVERYTHING by 2pm if not earlier.

We ordered from a fundraiser for school. Very disappointed the bread we received was over a week old. So needless to say im a very un happy camper. Emailed them so hopefully they make it right. On a good note the macaroons were the bomb!

Fresh bread is the name of the game here. I’ve been buying bread here since the 1960s. The selection of Bread’s are never ending. People drive out here from all over the place and especially on their way to Julian they stop in and pick up a bunch of loves to take home. Some of my favorites are The Baja Jalapeño Bread, The Deli rye bread, The Raisin Nut bread, And The San Francisco Sourdough bread. Best Of All, You Can Order Online. This place is for sure worth a visit.

Bread, bread, bread! All types of bread. My parents have been craving like crazy, especially the date nut raisin, their best seller! Since it was buy 4 of any loaf(or fruit bars, strudels etc.) and get the 5th free, so we bought 6 loaves of date nut raisin, one pecan maple and a big apple strudel. YUMINOURTUMS. At their deli I ordered Rosie’s Special. That sandwich was huge! I ate that sandwich like there was no tomorrow. The sauce was oozing all over my mouth and hands, the roast beef was plenty, the pineapples were sweet… everything was delicious. There’s a little gift shop at a corner of the place with souvenirs, mugs, dream catchers, wooden carvings, gems, rocks. I like rocks.

California’s Gold.(yeah, like the show) If you’re from San Diego and have never taken a day trip out to Julian for some bread, fruit bars, and pie… then you’re not a true San Diegan, sorry. :) This unassuming bakery is such a classic – there’s just something so heartwarming about the nostalgia that coming here brings… The thought of a sunny Sunday afternoon riding through the hills and munching on some goodies is enough to make me feel warm and fuzzy inside. Most of the bread and fruit bars are $ 5 each, and when you buy 4, you get 1 free! Pecan maple bread would be perfect for making some french toast, and now that there are 2 fruit bar flavors, you get to choose your flavor of addicting deliciousness. Win!
