Had pollo Asada and carne Asada tacos. Huge with lots of meat and flavor!!! Friendly staff. When first opened was disorganized but not any longer

Place is decent, better than some of the other ones in Santee Large menu that the employees don’t seem to understand, menu says«pollo adobado» burrito They seem to think we are inventing this menu item because they all say«we don’t carry pollo adobado burritos,» «we have a pollo with red sauce burrito…» Followed by a dear in the head lights look. I’m not disappointed with the food, I come here a few times a month so I would say it’s really a 4 star hole in the wall but maybe they have to figure out what is happening with the menu items. Oh yeah 1 more thing, if you drive a large vehicle you might have a hard time making that drive-thru.

This taco shop is now called Loreto’s. I was very disappointed on my second visit to Loreto’s. My husband and I used the drive thru and ordered a «bean & rice burrito» for my daughter. They took our order and we proceeded to the pay window. This is a very small place, so you can see into the kitchen when you pull up to the drive thru window. The cook was being extremely rude about our order(we didn’t want cheese), and we overheard every word of his complaining. The man who took our money apologized, looking embarrassed at the cook’s behavior. All the while, the cook was cussing loudly. This behavior really just isn’t acceptable. To further our disappointment, we got home to eat the burrito and the beans were over-cooked and completely bland. If you are going to open a taco shop less than half a mile from Cotijas, you need to step up your game. Poor service and bad food is not going to cut it. Next time I’ll drive the extra minute to get some great Mexican food. Loreto’s, you lost my business(you need a new cook).

I lived down the street about 1 block down on Fanita from this place for 1 year and it was my «go to» place. Considering it is the only fast food joint walking distance(less than 10 min walk) I usually ordered either the California Burrito or the Bean and Cheese Burrito with extra Cheese and double wrapped with 2 tortillas. Both were very good and in expensive. Staff was very friendly. Only things I did not like was during the summer time, only type of cooling system was a big fan that would only hit you if you were entering into the place, now I hear they have air conditioning so that is great. Second, the drive through takes a long time I think, no speaker system :/Third, be careful when ordering, I was almost overcharged a couple times for a simple item(bean and cheese burrito) I will return to this place again if in the area over another taco shop.

Great hole in the wall joint. Go here once every week or two for lunch and never had a problem. The burritos are good, but the huge carne asada fries are the best. Same guy is always behind the counter and runs the grill, always nice and quick. Best place I’ve found in San Diego for good Mexican.

This is interesting that it is kind of, off the beaten path, in the middle of a neighborhood of mostly single and multiple dwelling homes. I stopped in a had them make me 5 rolled tacos with all the fixings, including Cotija cheese, which I love on any Mexican food.( ) The rolled tacos were very well fried and had a great crunch. I loved that the gave a good amount of guacamole and piled on the cheese and greens and such.( ) The guacamole was very good and had nice fresh flavor a good seasoning.( ) The beef inside was of an average amount, and with so much corn tortilla wrapped around it, it was hard to taste its flavor.( ) I picked at it with a fork, to try it on its own, and I discovered, that it was a little bland. It lost it beefy flavor and perhaps needed a bit of salt. More beef with a more intensive flavor would benefit these rolls, because the rest of the ingredients were great on their own. Still, they were good rolled tacos. When I came in, there was only one individual working the front and making the food. I found it kinda odd, but he still got those rolls delivered to the counter, so I have to applaud him for that. 3.5 stars peeps…

Great local taco shop. Grab a beer next door and walk over for some carnitas tacos… Traditional, greasy, great. They also make some of the best lengua tacos I’ve ever had.

I have always been very happy with my food and service at Taco Loco. I’m even one of «those» gringas that has changes to be made to my burrito. They never give me a hard time and deliver greatness. Only reason why not a 5 star is there is no horchata. Man how can you have a taco shop and not make horchata. Since 90% of the time I’ve had my kids with me, it tends to force me to make an additional stop elsewhere for my kids favorite drink. But other than that. Good stuff.

Would have been 1 star except for he fact that their burritos are huge for the $$, wife and daughter got simple bean and cheese burritos and after a few bites threw them away, I guess the refried beans tasted funny, I had a cali burrito but with pollo and it was massive but had like nacho cheese sauce, not bad but kinda weird, quesadilla was good. Little hole in the wall place

Loud Spanish soap opera. on tv. One guy working. Tablecloth and chairs were soaking wet from something. Took 20 mins for 5 burritos. Cost $ 25. No flavor.

Estoy loco para Taco Loco!!! Try the drive through and you will be sold on this hole in the wall, with comida como mamacita! Their $ 2.99 breakfast burrito will feed two normal eaters and their specialty dishes are out of this world autentico! Chille relenos, burritos de camerones a la diabla and grilled corn on the cob in season are house specialities! Don’t go for the atmosphere unless you’ve driven deep into the interior of Mexico and know what it’s like to be welcomed into a roadside eatery like you were family! Just go for the food and you’ll know what it was like and you won’t need your passport to get back home! The cooler is stocked with all the right stuff too!!!(Fanita Liquor is right next door!!!) ;)

I’ve been going to this location for my taco needs for about 13yrs. Mind you it hasn’t been Taco Loco that whole time, this is my favorite reincarnation by far. They have good food and the price is right. The burritos at Taco Loco are huge and tasty, and they make my favorite beef tacos. Check this place out, it’s good.

This place is pretty good!!! I get the chiles rellanos platter that come with a cheese enchilada and rice and beans and it was very good. The flavor and the sauce and presentation make me impressed. All the flavors make me happy. My GF get the fish rolled taco and she is very pleased that place offer this, and it was pretty good. They should make this a signature dish. It was not mind blowingly good but it was good. she going to come back. Only complaint is minor one to get the green pork chili burrito. Really, it was not that bad. The flavor was good, but it seem like they use pork loin or not braise the pork long enough so that it is big chunk of pork. A little dry, not rediculous but I prefer the pork to be simmer for 2 – 3 hour shoulder is best. This make it like a stew. Some place specialize in just a few dish and do it well. Taco Loco do a lot of dish and do it well– I also like the woman speak perfect English and also have big boobs and nice tattoo I was looking while wait for the order –_– Overall I give 3 ½ star but the price and value very good i am going to go back for many specials and also nice view :/

It’s not bad, but it’s not great either. No sour cream in the California burrito made it kinda dry, the adobada was really decent though. Lots of veggies in these burritos which i like. But they don’t have real Jamaica or Horchata. They had no Tamorindo. It’s OK, like I said but nothing special.

Small taco shop hidden in the middle of a residential area. For such a small place their 120 item menu was a little shocking, including Philly steak, meatball sandwich, strange for a taco shop. If you enjoy extremely loud Mexican music this is your place? So loud he had to check with me to make sure it was right. I ordered a carne asada burrito($ 4.69) cooked it fresh took a few minutes. The burrito was large, inside carne, some pico and some gauc. The burrito was a meat tube a lot of meat, little gauc or pico. The meat was dry and lacked any flavor. They don’t have a salsa bar and in the bag there were a couple of salsa’s. The salsa was dark in color a little smoke probably form chipotle peppers, the salsa lacked any real flavor or taste, bland. Alright burrito but it will be near impossible for me to drive by Cotijas to go here.

Since the ownership change from Bertha’s, the food just isn’t as good. Today I got a carne asada burrito and two beef tacos. I’ve definitely had better… at Bertha’s! The carne asada meat was just warmed up and chewy and the beef in the tacos seems it was just stewing all day. The hot sauce was pretty good though… not the standard stuff but a special smokey flavored recipe. For better carne asada burritos and tacos, I’d recommend either Sombrero’s by Main Street in El Cajon or Santana’s on Broadway and the 67 in El Cajon. I’m still looking for all the good mexican places. Unfortunately, I don’t think this is one of them since the ownership change.

I came in wanting a snack and ended up leaving full. Its a small spot on a local street and would not know it was there if not for a friend. The cashier was very nice and offered a few suggestions on what to order. We ordered 1. Rolled fish tacos. The tacos were nice n crispy and the price was really good. the lettuce and other topping gave the food a nice contrast with crunchy and soft. the fish could use more salt but thats just me. 2. Carne Asada Burrito. the burrito was a good size filled with so much meat. the guac was nice and fresh. The beef was so far some of the better ones ive had in san diego. I wish the hot sauce was hotter but once again that is me. Its a great find for a place off the beaten path. They also have a drive thur !!!

I had been here before a few years ago and didn’t remember them to be all that great. I decided to try this place for lunch. It is now called Taco Loco and I have sent a message to the Unilocal Team to confirm. For such a tiny place they have A HUGE selection of food, including fish rolled tacos, tortas, sandwiches(including Philly Cheese Steak), burgers, and gyros. I of course went for my faithful Mexican place test — bean and cheese burrito with shredded lettuce and onions and three chicken rolled tacos. They also have soda in cans(12 oz and 16 oz — something I have never seen before) and 20-oz bottles. Wait time was about five minutes — there is free Wi-Fi available but I think it may have been coming from somewhere else. The TV offers a Dish Network connection which also amused me considering how tiny the place is… and they also offer drive-thru service although I decided to walk in. The burrito was not runny at all, and quite good. The winner here was the chicken rolled tacos. I could taste the real Mexican cheese(Is it Cotija?) instead of the shredded cheddar and they were some of the best I have had in quite awhile. I will be back and since they offer fish rolled tacos which is somewhat rare, I’ll have to try those next time.

I read the reviews and we headed out for dinner. Perhaps I was expecting too much. For one, it was called Taco Loco, not Bertha’s. Maybe it changed ownership? Same address, same description from reviews… Two Bean & Cheese burritos($ 2.29).something tasted ‘fried’ to the beans. And not your refried beans way – more like a fried pastry. Very runny beans. One Pollo Adobado($ 4.69) — real watery. Tasty, but not pollo adobado to me, something more like a store bought enchilada sauce. One California($ 4.69) — minimal & soggy fries. Good adds(pico, sour cream) — didn’t have to ask for them, very nice. Very oniony — I had to brush my teeth after to get rid of the onion aftertaste, it was so overpowering. Lots of meat, but not seasoned much and very small pieces. I felt like I was eating cat food. They packed up salsa & hot carrots without asking. Not a fan of hot carrots, so they’ll be wasted. The salsa tasted a lot of those dry red chiles and not much else & was oddly smooth. We got a bottle of Coke as well.($ 1.79) An extra plus — they accept cards. That may earn my business on it’s own one day. In this day, I’m surprised by restaurants that don’t accept cards. The place was a run down hole. I’m not against run down holes, one of my favorite taco shops is one, but it’s another thing to gripe about if you’re looking for it. Overall, it was okay. If someone wanted to take me there, I’d go. I wouldn’t go back on my own. I wouldn’t call it ‘authentic’; it’s your typical Americanized Mexican food.
