BEST WESTERN Mountain Lake Inn

Hotel is in a nice location. We stayed over the weekend and they allowed our dog which was great! For a non smoking room I did feel that as a non smoker it smelled like stale smoke. Must have been an old smoking room. For that reason I would give the hotel a 2 BUT… The staff is super friendly, very accommodating and when I lost my cell phone (thought it got stolen out of my car) they looked for it and found it! They called me to let me know and I had it the next day! Thank you so much!

This place is totally fine. The staff is friendly and the rooms are clean. Yes, the bathrooms are small and it’s weird/​old wallpaper, but it was definitely clean and that’s the most important thing to me.

Seems like the Best Western has been getting a bad rap on Unilocal… Or, it has recently been updated and the older Unilocal don’t reflect the renovations.
We stayed there over a bitterly cold New Year’s and could not have been more pleased with the quality of the rooms. Super clean, no wear and tear, very quiet, friendly guy at the desk.
The fridge in the room was an unexpected benefit.
One tiny quibble — since there were very few people in the hotel, it would have been nice to have our room upgraded to one with a view of the Lake (not a boring interior courtyard). With a lake view, I am sure this would have been a five-​start review.
The restaurant next door offers a discount for hotel guests but is only open for breakfast and lunch.

I usually stay here when I have to travel to the area for work. I usually get in late and am out early. Rooms have always been clean and quiet. The diner next to the hotel is convenient for breakfast. No complaints!

Nasty.
I understand that this place has a monopoloy on the Saranac Lake area. so maybe they do not have to try as hard?
We went to a wedding in the area, and came back to our room tired, to find our sheets covered in stains and nasty hair. So gross. Called the front desk and they brought us new sheets. Ok sure, no problem, I love making my own bed in a hotel, especially at midnight.
Shower was less than clean, room was so dated (how long have those big deep TVs been out of style?), I am not a fan, at all. It would be cleaner to just camp outside!

Plenty of Best Westerny goodness, and super clean, but I honestly don’t know why you would stay here with so many good B&Bs and spotless old school motels in town for far less cash. (Maybe for those that don’t like atmosphere.) Super clean place, good location, but not as convenient to the village as many of the other lodging choices. Decent restaurant, but it closes at 2pm during much of the year.

We stayed one night in Saranac Lake and this hotel is everything you know and want out of a Best Western. Our room was clean with extra pillows and blankets. They do have an indoor pool but we checked in after 10pm and it had closed. The bathroom had a hair dryer and coffee maker and there was plenty of TV to watch before we all passed out after a long day.
Why can’t they raise the level of the shower heads? Or make it so I’m not stepping up when I step into the tub? This isn’t so much a criticism of this particular hotel, but of a trend I’ve been seeing lately. I’m only slightly taller than the average woman and I was doing backbends to get my hair clean. Just sayin’.
