This is a great little restaurant in a nice neighborhood by the hospital. It is a family owned restaurant, the owners are very nice and from France. The food is very good. The prices are reasonable. Portions are a nice size. We had the lunch special for $ 15.00 it was quiche, salad, a glass of wine and a dessert crêpe. I would go back, good atmosphere.

We went to this intimate little«bistrot» on a rainy evening. There were only a hand full of patrons. So the place was quiet except for a little French music in the background. My wife and I each ordered a glass of red wine and my wife noted that the pour was quite generous. We each ordered a salad and we quite pleased with the portion and variety. Her salad contained duck that was tasty and ample. My salad contained fried goat cheese and it was really tasty. These salads were really filling leaving no room for dessert. Our experience was relaxing and our server was attentive without constantly hovering over us. We will definitely return

We were doing our walk in this cool neighborhood and came upon this wonderful restaurant — Very French — we had the salads and French onion soup — perfectly charming and the food was wonderful — can’t wait to go back

We’ve eaten here twice, and it makes us wistful for France. Lunch was delightful, as was our prix fixe New Year’s Even champagne dinner. For lunch we had salads and sandwiches with a nice Vouvray wine — I enjoyed my Croque Madame sandwich, while envying the Campagne pâté with cornichons of one of our party and the hot goat cheese salad of another, so it’ll be worth lunching there again to try more dishes! They have a tempting menu, and don’t try to do everything but what they do is a nice variety that all sound good. I especially want to try the salade Nicoise next time. For our New Year’s Eve dinner one option was magret de canard, those wonderful duck breast medallions that equal any beef tenderloin I’ve ever had — This was my choice and much enjoyed. A companion has the scallops in a Madagascar vanilla sauce, which of course I tasted– a tiny taste of the sauce and I was thinking«too sweet» but when I took a piece of scallop with sauce on it, I marveled at how perfectly the flavors complemented one another. Brilliant combination that was surprising and delicious. The fish terine starter was divine; the foie gras not the best I’ve had but good, and the cheeses after the meal were outstanding. We had a very nice bottle of Cote du Rhone red wine that enhanced the meal, and my last sips were perfect with those cheeses. It was all we could do to taste the raspberry mousse-cake dessert. A very nice evening topped off with complementary champagne. Service was good, the selection of wines they have is not huge but very well chosen, and the décor is simple, clean, and just right. A lovely little bit of France in Sarasota!

We found this restaurant during our trip in Saratosa, we gave it a shot and went right in. The waitress is very friendly and helped us to build our vegetarian menu off the card. The food was way awesome, authentic French cuisine and our Christmas Eve dinner was splendid after the bûche de Noël. The owner Alex, who also cooks, is very kind and is from France.

Such a cute little place. Went for lunch with my mom on a Tuesday. Were served by a French woman who is presumably the owner. Felt very authentic. Very reasonable prices. Had the pâté and country crêpe. My mom had a salad. 10⁄10 would go again and probably for dinner next time.

Beautiful, quaint and cozy, 62 Bistrot is a nice place for a meal. Alex, the owner, is wonderful. Three of us sat in in the booth at the front. We had the Croque-Monsieur $ 8.50(white bread, ham and melted cheese), Perigord salad $ 11(walnuts, crispy bacon, garlic croutons, tomatoes, and duck breast served over mixed greens) and the Atlantic sandwich $ 10(smoked salmon and brie on a french baguette. The portion size was plenty; enough to bring home half. Although we were stuffed from lunch, the crepes and desserts looked amazing… next time.

Friday evening meal on a holiday weekend, and the experience was very nice. The owners, Alex and his wife whose name I don’t recall have operated it for just about a year(so only those reviews should be relied upon). The room has a very authentic French feel to it, from the way the food is prepared and served, to the background music and an extensive all-France wine list, with a great representation of the most significant wine regions, and a few lesser know gems as well. We enjoyed the breast of duck and flounder with appetizers of French onion soup and Gorgonzola salad. Everything was well prepared and served hot and timely. A single crêpe for dessert was more than enough for two. And such a bargain, with a two course price of just $ 27. To top it off there’s a lot going on in general on this very walkable street, Hillview, although parking can be tight on the weekends.

Old school French style bistrot. Nice hideaway dinner spot. Slow service. I liked their duck breast. But I make better escargots at home. I find it nice and relaxing

This place is a fantastic. The décor made me feel like I was at a small French bistro in Paris. Both the waitress and chef spoke to one another exclusively in French. From the moment I walked in I knew this was authentic. I had the House crêpe with ham, cheese, and a sunny-side up egg. The crêpe was buckwheat, and it was very thing with a great texture. A small side salad with a creamy dressing was also delicious. My Mom had the Quiche Veggie, they were out of the Lorraine, but it was also pretty tasty. The crust was flakey and the veggies added a nice touch. Finally, we ended with a Batignolles Crêpe filled with bananas and topped with sliced almonds, chocolate, and whipped cream. There was a small dusting of cinnamon that was a pleasant surprise. Overall, this place had great crêpe. It is a fantastic spot for a romantic date or Saturday brunch.

Delightful Country French Restaurant in the Middle of Sarasota. Outstanding food, really pleasant service, good house wine; excellent crêpe desserts; comfortable atmosphere; just please leave the table next to the bar for me. I intend to visit frequently.

Intimate and charming, the ambience of 62 Bistrot is a lovely surprise in downtown Sarasota. The food is quite good, though both my husband and I found it a little too salty. The prices are very reasonable, especially for such an authentic menu. We’ll definitely be back.

Last evening, my partner and I had dinner with 2 other dear friend couples. The experience was wonderful in many ways. First, the restaurant is small and intimate, meaning we sat European-style; closer together than normal and we could all hear one another easily, which is no small feat in Sarasota. The food prepared by Alexander was quite good, tasty and interesting. The service by Vanessa was also quite good, caring and personal. Alex and Vanessa just took over the restaurant in December 2013(consider this when you see older, not-so-good reviews), and it is clear that it is a labor of love. Alex spent time taking photos of our group, and spoke about how he enjoyed our laughter! It was like being hosted in a traditional French bistro by loving proprietors. We all enjoyed it immensely and did not want to leave at the end of the evening! We will be back; this is a Sarasota gem.

Uninspired food by a chef who glares at you through an opening from the kitchen and mocks his staff in front of his patrons. One of these stars were lost by the uncomfortable environment the chef created by his lack of respect for his staff and far from inviting demeanor that he exudes from the whole in the wall that leads to the kitchen. The food was lacking in flavor, freshness, and ultimately — care. I had the country pâté while my family had French onion soup, and Brie with honey on toast. The appetizers were tasty but nothing to rave about. The beef bourguignon looked and tasted like it had been reheated in a microwave and had no complexity or richness in flavor. The Caribbean stew was a tasty criollo style dish but with overlooked seafood. The best and dish I would recommend was the fish in lobster sauce. It was absolutely delicious and while the portion was small, it was by far the best dish we tasted all night. The last disappointing aspect to our dishes was the potato au gratin which was warm on the outside and cold on the inside for all of us. Leading to the conclusion that it was something heated up in a microwave. Bistrot 62 has an extensive crêpe menu and we tasted a variety of crepes. The crepes were a mix bag for us. Some of us got our crepes warm while others cold. The Nutella and banana crêpe was a hit while my Black Forest crêpe was drenched in chocolate sauce and topped with frozen fruit. The chef couldn’t even defrost the fruits he placed on top of my crêpe and hence what I consider uninspired cooking. We really had high hopes for Bistrot 62 and had researched extensively before deciding on dining there. It had good reviews on many sites and that is what baffles me the most. Does the Sarasota and surrounding bay areas not have enough experience with French food to know a good bistro from a bad one? Or was my experience an out of the ordinary evening? Whatever the case is, I don’t recommend anyone dining at Bistrot 62 unless they are in the mood to gamble.

One of the best places in Sarasota to eat, especially if you like calm, quite atmosphere and not loud music at background(French). Place is very cozy, never crowded in the evening — what I love because you get the perfectly cooked meal by not being in rush cook. Love their St. Jacques des Chefs seared scallops served on a creamy lobster sauce — just perfect!!! Crepes are great too, especially those made with pears. Update 12/20/2015: changed my ratings from 5 to 4. The ownership of the restaurant has been changed a couple years ago so did the quality of food and menu. It still okay to have some lunch or dinner once in awhile but nothing to brag about.

Wow! That’s what I have to say about the food. The food was incredibly delicious. Don’t believe me? Then you have to believe the guy at our table who spent 10 years of his life living in Paris. He loved the food. He said it was very authentic. And what reasonable prices. Entrée and appetizer for $ 24. Dessert is not an option here; they specialize in crepes. How can you not save room for that. You will have room for dessert anyway because this is a European size meal; a nice healthy portion. I typically run in to the issue when I’m in Sarasota that the ambiance is generally lacking, but here they really try to create the ambiance of quaint french bistro. All of the highlights of France are pictured on the walls with very light french music in the background. Don’t worry, you’ll have no trouble carrying on a dinner conversation here. Service was friendly. We asked serveral questions about how certain sauces were made and our waiter patiently answered them. This is the best french food in Sarasota. I highly recommend it.

Had lunch today… walked in at 1:20 and was told to order quickly they were only open for lunch until 2pm. I asked if we walked in at 1:50 would we get served? We were told yes but to please order quickly in any case. Very rude IMHO… food was average. Next time I want French I will inconvenience another restarant.
