Very tasty, authentic, good Mexican food. The tacos were crispy and made from lightly fried fresh corn tortillas; I’ve ordered the beef tacos, made from strips of lean yet tender steak garnished with lettuce, tomato and avocado. They have a little production line that turns out generous plates of tacos, enchiladas, roasted chicken, steak and a few more choices. They make their own red and green salsa, too, neither of which is extremely spicy. You pick your drink out of a cooler. Don Beto Jaimes is a very casual place with only a few seats; many customers order«to go.» It’s in a strip mall, behind a gas station and popular Cuban restaurant.

I love this place, this place is probably the most authentic Mexican restaurant this side of the Mississippi!

Phenominal, 110% authentic. Try the«deep fried» flour tortilla taco shells. I love beef tongue taco meat myself, but plenty to choose from.

A small restaurant, with big flavors. I took my wife and 2 boys there. The ordering was simple, the food was plentiful. It was also great food. Highly recommend going there for lunch.

Very good food. Love their fresh salsa, quite spicy. Friday is BBQ day and you can get mixed bbq meat plates for $ 9. Great lunch spot.

Call before you go! We drove from Anna Maria island to eat here and it was closed before 8pm on a Wedesday night. A run down area of town.

After being schooled by *co-workers for almost a half-hour about how awesome the tacos at Don Beto Jaime are… I just had to check it out for myself. Of course, those same co-workers would not accompany me to their favorite spot. So, as usual, I set out solo on a new Foodie Adventure in Stomach Destruction to the Beautiful Town of Oneco to try for myself. First off, just like many other local places— there is no telling what kind of meat will be available that day until you get there and are briefed. I was wanting Carnitas or Chorizo, but was only able to have Pastor minus the pineapple. Which was really more just ground pork with some spices. To sum it up, the tacos were bland and salty at the same time. Don’t know how it happened, but it did. There are long row tables for seating and I actually recommend ordering a plate lunch instead of tacos. If you ask what the menu is, the staff will point to a large table of platters of food on display that were made that morning. That is the menu, like it or not. It is very unique and something that the restaurant is very proud of. I’ll be back again soon to order the **correct way. *that may or may not know what the hell they are talking about. **not get the tacos

Some of the best Mexican food I’ve had outside of Mexico. Authentic, tasty and a rare find in the U.S. The grills outside with the smells of meat traveling to your nose from the minute you step out of the car should be a clue. If you aren’t into Mexican food the way it’s supposed to be done(i.e., you like overstuffed Burritos at Chipotle), then just go to Chipotle, since this place is amazing and the real deal. I’m surprised that I am only the second person to review this place!

Went on a saturday afternoon, place is small but clean and the atmosphere was very friendly. Easy going, I ordered from a display, sat down, got my soda and waited. the food was amazing, all mexicans around me smiled at me and I felt like being on vacation. Again the food was A M A Z I N G, yummi, lil bit to much for me. It looks like they are feeding local mexicans here mostly. If you want to eat real mexican food, I saw one customer eating a dish that looked like cow stomache to me… woooo… not for me… but this place looks like the real thing. And the prize blew me away, I paid $ 8 when I left…5 stars

I’m shocked that this place isn’t on here already. This is one of the most fun lunch experiences to be had. Don Beto Jaimes is near capacity at midday Saturday, tables full, televisions blaring silly Telemundo sitcoms. We aren’t greeted or presented with menus upon arrival, eventually figuring out we’re expected to order at the counter and grab drinks out of the fridge. The only non-Spanish speakers in the restaurant, I awkwardly ask what they have and am directed to the«menu»: an array of plates on display, full of tacos or enchiladas. We point and grunt our way through ordering, grab some Jarritos sodas and wait for a table to open up. I immediately feel at ease. There’s something to be said for the slightly alien, authentically foreign experience. For all the diversity of food available to American diners, our meal experiences are strikingly monotonous. Don Beto Jaimes moves to a different rhythm, guided by different rules. There’s no warning when you order something spicy, no one asks you if everything tastes good. You’re expected to know what you’re getting and like it. And if you like Mexican food, that won’t be a problem. For $ 8, I receive five delicious tacos with my choice of meat, lettuce, tomato, onions, sour cream and queso fresco. The corn tortillas are crispy and substantial and the chicken has a BBQ-like tang to it. Indisputably delicious. The Camarones a la Mexicana impressed as well. Full review here:
