I needed to have a small brunch catered for my husbands birthday, we had eaten Jim’s small batch bakery muffins and pastries and we both loved them! I went to his bakery and we worked up a great menu. Our guest were blown away! The candied bacon BLT’s were the bomb! There wasn’t one single thing on the menu that was disappointing! I would highly recommend!

I will be back! Only wish the bread would have been ready. Would have loved to take a loaf of challah home.

After fighting the lunch crowds in town I did a Unilocal search on Bakery’s and Jims Small Batch was close by so I dropped in about 1pm. It’s a little place inside all the bakery items were pretty much gone. I picked a slice of New York cheese cake to take home with me and it was $ 4 a slice. To my surprise the slice was pretty small. That’s a normal size fork next to it. The crust was a typical gram cracker crust. The cake was dense and had a strong flour taste. Nothing special. I’m giving them 3 stars because it was okay. Not terrible nor great.

The test is in the taste. Jim’s baked goods taste noticeably better. #choosequality

Great customer service. We purchased a selection of ‘bars’ to feed our 20 guests. Each one was very delicious. If we ever get back to the Siesta Keys area we would stop here.

Get a slice of the chocolate ganache torte. Do it. Okay, after you’ve had a slice, you’ll understand why I’m so sad we’ll be moving out of the area. I generally avoid chocolate-heavy desserts as a rule, because while I like chocolate, I’m particular about what kinds of chocolate I like. Dark chocolate usually bores me. Too much chocolate in a dessert, or the wrong mix of chocolate, and I’ll have a bite and stop, feeling either bored or unpleasantly overwhelmed. Jim’s chocolate ganache torte was the absolute opposite of That Boring Chocolate Dessert. The ganache was in perfect balance with the cake, with the chocolate topping. It was my husband’s dessert, but I ate half of it. I couldn’t help myself, and he didn’t blame me. Before the ganache, we had lunch: the BLT sandwich on asiago for me, and the salmon & brie on a rye baguette, along with clam chowder, for my husband. My husband snarfed his sandwich in record time, wouldn’t even taste mine, and praised the brie especially. The clam chowder was excellent as well(he let me have only one spoon of it). I will note that at the time that we ordered, I didn’t feel particularly hungry, and had planned to just have half the BLT. Once I started it, I couldn’t stop. Almost everything about it was perfect: the bread(semolina with asiago cheese mixed in) was divine, and honestly made the sandwich for me. The bacon was actually a little too hot for me, and more crispy than I liked, but was balanced admirably by the fresh tomato and lettuce and dressing(can’t remember what it was, or even if there *was* dressing, but it went well). The bread. I keep coming back to it. I don’t *like* what usually passes for bread– supermarket loaves with too-soft interiors and floppy crusts make me feel guilty, because I know what to do to make them palatable to me(toast ‘em till they’re nearly black), and yet I never bother to do it. My husband eats those loaves, but not me. I know how to make bread, but I’m usually too lazy to do it. Jim’s asiago makes me wish I was more motivated, more interested in the craft of breadmaking, just so I could try my hand at reproducing it. The interior was so good. The crust– which I like as crispy as possible– was actually almost *too* crispy for me to enjoy. I don’t particularly like cheese, but I loved it in this bread. Eventually, after the ganache, my husband and I left, americano in one hand, a few caramel apple squares in the other. We will return again, somehow. We must.

It has a nice atmosphere with a counter full of sweet goodies and breakfast items. I ordered a breakfast sandwich with eggs, Swiss cheese, and candied bacon on a croissant. What really made the sandwich special was the candied bacon. It added a sweetness and a hint of spicy to the traditional bacon flavor. It was excellent! Other people in my party got the French toast and the award-winning muffins, which were worthy of that title. The service was good and the chef even came out to ask us specifics about how we wanted our food. All in all a great place to stop for a quick breakfast or a snack on the go.

Jims is why I had to start working out to stay fit. For most of my life I just counted calories. Honestly for the first month i didn’t work out, no joke I gained at least 10 pounds. My man was all like«umm… filling out there aren’t you. you kinda told me to warn you if you’re gaining weight. not that i mind. but. you kinda are.» So I had to quit. For my wardrobes sake. Sort of like why I had to quit bakeries in NYC, the freshness of the baked goods can kill ya if you’re not careful. When something is amazing and warm and fresh, you can’t stop yourself. Jim’s, thanks for making me realize i’m not immune to getting fat. Thinking about Jims is making me feel fat. I need to work out now.

Stopped in to buy some of their delicious muffins and decided to have breakfast there. Wow! My husband and I had a breakfast sandwich with egg and candied bacon. The bread was fresh and so tasty, the candied bacon made this sandwich over the top delicious. We can’t wait to return! I have ordered birthday cakes before that were delicious, the cookies and muffins are also fantastic. YUM

I called in to reserve my 2 loaf of Asiago today, Thursday(only), glad I did! They went FAST! *Check their website for schedule of fresh made daily breads. I’ve been back few times and everything was amazing!(Almond bite, chocolate cake.) Today, thanks to Jennifer, we were introduced to ‘Jim’s famous Candied Bacon BLT’ for lunch. We LOVED every bite of it! So fresh, and the bacon was to die for. What a simple delicious combination! Chef told us how he made the bacon so tasty after we gobbled it down in seconds. ^^ The bean soup was a great side dish to go with my sandwich, satisfying. What a better way to end a meal with ‘pumpkin cheesecake’! I FINALLY got what I wished for! Thanks again to Jim & Tina even remembered to remind me! Be back soon!!!

Stumbled on this gem while walking to Rockefeller Center. Purchased two cookies for a snack and they were awesome! Stopped by another day but got there after they had closed. Charming and tiny store. We didn’t have a wait. Staff were super friendly.

Sweet, sweet Jim. I mean, Jim’s sweet, sweet bakery. The breads are fresh daily. The bagels — oh to be a lucky recipient of a Saturday bagel from Jim. The carrot cake, the croissants, the soups and sandwiches. I HONESTY and TRULY have NEVER had anything bad from Jim’s Small Batch Bakery. Jim may have honed his skills working for some other, perhaps more well-known, restaurants in town, but when he opened his own shop… HEBROUGHTHIS«A» GAME! Since the shop expansion there is even more room to order, pay, and now, eat! During your first visit, it is better to stay right on the premises while you eat your lunch, breakfast, snack or dessert — That way you won’t have far to go back for seconds!

The best bakery you will find in Florida. A picture is worth a 1000 words but none of jims photos do his baking masterpieces justice. From the mouthwatering buttery croissants to the perfect carrot cake Jim does it all world class. I have been to Paris and New Orleans, Jim hangs with the best of them. You may pay a little more but everything is made fresh daily by him and that’s something you can taste.

Went in for coffee and breakfast. We had the breakfast sandwich and it was great. One of the best we have had. It was so good we came back for lunch. We had the quiche, I highly recommend the sun dried tomato one it melts in your mouth. Then we grabbed some treats to go for later. Oh yes and the late was perfect definitely the hottest coffee I’ve ever had.

Went out of my way to drive to this bakery on my way home based on Unilocal reviews. When I walked in not a large selection but what was there looked good. I ordered a few pastries to take home to my family and also asked for a a brie & ham on a bagette. To my surprise I was told that was on the lunch menu and they were only serving breakfast. I guess the confusion on my face was enough for the server to further explain that«if it was closer to lunch she would ask but they are set up for breakfast and can make the sandwich» What? A piece of bagette(already baked) with COLD ham and cheese is a large ask. It is not like I was asking for an omelette at lunch. oh well. The pastries were good but the service has a lot to be desired.

The goodies I bought for my dad’s birthday were pretty delicious. And the service was very nice. I just wish the supply or variety of yummy things offered today was more robust. I would have spent a ton of money but was disappointed with the selection after making the drive all the way from west Bradenton. The cranberry ginger cake was scrumptious but I probably won’t return just bc there’s not a website to pre-order or see what’s offered weekly and it’s too far for what the selection I witnessed today. I even called ahead to ask if the lavender crème brûlée was going to be in stock in time for my dad’s birthday… I was told it was but when I arrived it was no where to be seen. I made the special trek to south sarasota for my dad’s birthday treats and wasn’t blown away by the hype.

Wow! Stopped in to get some lunch sandwiches and somehow was able to avoid the gorgeous looking desserts. Something to go back for. We ordered chicken salad and a turkey/cheddar sandwiches on sourdough. I am a huge fan of sourdough and I have to say Jim hit it out of the park.($ 8 each sandwich.) Pretty sure my trips to the Publix will include a swing by here for bread. Have already told a couple more people about it. Anxious also to try the bagels on Saturday. I love a NYC Water Bagel and I’m looking forward to seeing how good they are!

Stopped in for soup and sandwich and want everyone to know how great this place is. Breads are made here and are top quality. The Ham and Brie on a baguette was fresh and could not have been any better. Noticed others nearby with a BLT that was almost tempted me to ask for a taste. Left with the oatmeal cookie and a chocolate croissant and found it hard not to finish both on the way home. Order at the counter and the very nice staff bring out to your table. Highly recommended.
