Yum! Haven’t been able to eat cinnamon buns in years, and I’m so glad I found Island Gluten Free Bakery! The cinnamon bun and key lime pie were DELICIOUS!

I had the pleasure of visiting Island Gluten Free Bakery on a recent vacation to the area. This place is outstanding! I’m gluten intolerant so I, of course, like the gluten free aspect of this bakery, but beyond that… things just taste good. Try the cinnamon roll. The rest of my group(three others that can eat gluten) along with me all agreed it was delicious. Add to the delicious baked goods that the place is run by genuinely nice and carrying people. This place is a gem. If you’re in the area… go there and patronize this fine establishment.

Best gluten free bread I have ever eaten. We also got a fresh from the oven cinnamon roll. It was heavenly. Definitely recommend.

5 stars — Awesome gluten free(free of wheat, barley and rye) bakery and delish coffee beverages. We were in the west coast area and thanks to the fellow Unilocalers, I searched for«gluten free» and found this place. Thanks Unilocalers! Upon entering they had an area with refrigerated baked goods, ranging from cupcakes, muffins, cookies, cakes to pizza crust, english muffins etc. There was also some behind the glass that were baked that same day. It was very refreshing to go to a shop that just sold gluten free items. Anyone who has a gluten intolerance or is a celiac, this is you shop! We talked to one of the owners for a bit and it was great to know they had been there since 2006. All of their products are not only gluten free but also no GMO oils, preservatives, artificial colors, chemicals and hydrogenated oils, etc. And no refined sugars. After have a sample of a coconut muffin, it was so amazing and moist, its hard to believe if you would go back to the fake stuff. We ordered a GF cinnamon roll with icing and an Americano coffee. Everything was SO good and hit the spot. We also bought some GF biscuit mix to-go and cupcakes to-go. I would love to come back soon!

I discovered this great place the other day as I was driving to Siesta Key. As a Celiac, I can only eat in all GF facilities and I was delighted to find this. Everything I’ve had there was great. I especially liked the key lime pie and chocolate chip coconut muffin. I also like the fact that they don’t use tons of sugar and that they use whole grains such as sorghum. I definitely plan to be back.

I’ve tried many gluten-free bakeries during my travels. At Island, I’ve found the most delicious variety, at reasonable prices too! CAKES: the chocolate cake wow-ed us even after being squashed in check-in luggage. It’s so luscious & decadent, we literally couldn’t stop eating till it was all gone. Milk, tea & strawberries are all perfect complements. PIES: the strawberry rhubarb & apple pies have THE best fillings I’ve had — GF or not. They’re rich in fruits, low in added sugar, and fill up to the brim. The crust though is dry and crumbly. But I was excited to enjoy lactose-free pies. MUFFINS: the coconut chocolate is like a heaven of coconut clouds! The chocolate chips enhance without overwhelming the coconut flavor. The apple cinnamon hits the spot with its pure, simple texture. The cranberry orange walnut delivers abundant tart cranberries with every bite. BROWNIES: the chocolate brownie tastes like a real brownie, and it’s much lighter than the cake. COOKIES: I know from experience the challenge of making gluten-free dairy-free cookies. The chocolate chip cookies are solid, but they do leave me desiring more chewiness. Summary: So many moments of I-can’t-believe-it’s-gluten-and-dairy-and-soy-free! We already have plans to place mail-in orders.

I would consider myself ‘gluten low’ of late so I’m always in search of high quality gluten free options. Who would know that on vacation in Siesta Key we would find a Gluten Free bakery? Go figure. I’m used to mostly tolerating gluten free foods and the bar for what is acceptable is pretty low. Well this place elevates the bar. Their baked goods are tasty on their own merit, gluten free or not. Definitely not at all gritty and no weird after taste. The plus? Really friendly staff who obviously take pride in their work. Next time we visit we’ll definitely be back.

In town visiting on our way elsewhere and randomly found this place. It’s hard traveling and finding gluten free vegan options and here we run into a gluten free bakery! What luck! The ladies Kim and Vic were amazing and attentive. I got the most amazing gluten free, dairy free chocolate chip zucchini muffins, chocolate chip cookies and loaf of cinnamon raisin bread! Great selection, great service and DELICIOUS products!

Excellent gluten free bakery with kind, attentive service. They also have many great vegan options. Imagine the excitement when my kids, one with a serious gluten intolerance and one with an egg allergy, can eat foods that they hardly ever get to eat. The baked goods are so delicious!

Not worried about eating gluten free. No problem here because it’s so good you won’t even realize it is gluten free! Service is always always friendly. Ask any questions and they’re always always happy to talk to you. Love the lack of attitude at this bakery! Bread? YUM Pies? YUM But the peanut butter cookies… BEST We often send family and friends and although non are gluten sensitive, they all agree that it’s wonderful here! Be prepared to pack a loaf or two in your suitcase before you leave!

This bakery was so delicious! I brought my iPad on a week’s trip to Sarasota and found it without any issue. Loved the fact the owner/baker gets what it means to bake a GF item. I gobbled up the key lime pie. Best ever!!! Enjoyed a strawberry/rubarb pie with crust that tasted like crust. Even bought bread back to Boston! i also appreciated getting tips for places to eat with GF menus in the Sarasota area. All in all a place to visit and enjoy great baking!!!

My wife’s parents found this place when my son was first diagnosed with celiac and we survived on care packages from here! Finally were able to stop by in person. My son loved the Italian sub! He also had a piece of peach pie and some muffins. We planning on stopping by again today to get some bread for the week!

I live in California and discovered this place through a poster at the GF bakery in Oakland that I frequent(Mariposa Bakery). Island GF Bakery is one of the top-rated gluten free bakeries in the nation, and I can see why. Excellent customer service, and super tasty sandwiches. They even had waffles and other GF items that are super hard to find. Prices were very reasonable and portions were large! When we are in the area again we will DEFINETLY stop by, for some good quality, locally made gluten free bites, that are just as good(if not better) than their non-GF counterparts!

We stopped by because of all the great reviews on Unilocal& picked up a muffin, piece of pie & a sugar cookie. Everything was good but not outstanding tasting. We are from Chicago & the vegan bakeries there are out of this world so perhaps we were comparing. Great option for those who need a gluten free option.

First off the food was great. Freshly prepared sandwiches and baked items that any of my non-gluten free friends would enjoy and return. As someone who cannot eat gluten it was a wonderful oasis(entire store is gluten free). Being able to eat everything they offer was wonderful. The sub I had was perfect and had I not known it was gluten free I would have had to ask twice because it was perfect. They also offer gluten free staples for baking and frozen and fresh baked gluten free items to take home. The staples(cereal, flours, snacks) were all very reasonable and in line with the bulk prices you can sometimes can find online. Highly recommend. It really made my day.

I just found out I’m Celiac a couple weeks ago and the adjustment has been everything but easy. Originally from Chicago, with a vacation home in Sarasota, the Island Gluten Free Bakery made my vacation a little easier and less stressful. The muffins, bread, and key lime pie are delicious and the two women working were incredibly helpful offering tips on which GF pastas are the best. Planning to have the bread shipped to me when I get back home until I can find a bakery close to me.
