Great flavored! Lots of fudge and caramel. Lots of fruit in the fruit flavors and ice cream base that is smooth and creamy. Friendly service. What more can you ask for?

I tried this ice cream store today because of a glowing writeup in the local free paper. The article touted Abel’s as celebrating berry season with ice creams loaded with fresh berries and ribbons of berry, so i splurged and ordered a banana split made with 3 scoops – 1 was the raspberry, one strawberry, and one cherry. I chose a marshmallow topping, and pineapple topping, along with the traditional peanuts, whipped cream and maraschino on top. Sadly, this whole shebang was a pathetic composition of a split. The scoops of ice cream were small, the amount of marshmallow topping was minimal, the maraschino cherry(only one) was put on before the toppings so was hidden under them, and the whip cream consisted of one tiny rosette on top of each scoop. As i said, a pathetic presentation for $ 7. As for the special flavors, to begin with, the ice cream itself was not particularly rich tasting, the raspberry i could not find any whole berries nor the thick swirl of raspberry that was supposed to be there, the stawberry did have a few noticeable berries and the cherry ice cream did have pieces of cherry but overall, i did not find the ice cream itself remarkable in any way and consider Publix ice cream to have more flavor. In its favor, the ice cream was not overly sweet, the place looked very clean, and the older-ages of the staff perhaps made them more gracious to the equally older-aged patrons, the only kind i saw in the time it took me to eat my sundae and look over the latest edition of the free newspaper they had on hand for customers. Skip this place, go a bit farther east to Swift where you will find Sweet Berries, a frozen custard shop that mixes fresh berries into your order to your specifications, along with many other fruit or candy choices. What is a beach vacation without a nightly stop for local ice cream? One of our evenings in Siesta Key we stopped in at Abel’s Ice Cream. The service was friendly and personal, and Abel, the owner, chatted with us while we enjoyed our ice cream. We were visiting the first week of December, and being the off season, it wasn’t busy. The shop is bright and clean, the scoops are generous, the ice cream was creamy and there were lots of flavors to choose from. They make all of their own ice cream in house and even had a fruit sorbet that was safe for my son, who has many food allergies including dairy and soy. If we find ourselves back in Siesta Key(and I hope we do!), I would return to Abel’s for another ice cream treat!

I was visiting the area and saw all the good reviews and decided I had to give this place a try. The ice cream itself was good, but not amazing. The prices were a little steep for what it was worth. However, the staff’s hospitality was great, we sat inside for awhile, and the staff offered us water and was extremely friendly.

Went here after eating dinner at a restaurant in the same shopping center. They had approximately 30 homemade hard ice cream flavor to choose from. We were in a large group. Everyone enjoyed their ice cream. Here are some of the flavored that we ordered: Coffee Chocolate chip Superman Raspberry Sorbet Peanut butter cup Prices were average and staff was very friendly. Interior tables could accommodate about 20 people.

With so many flavors available, I had a tough choice to make. After I sampled the Carrot Cake ice cream, my decision was easily made. It was smooth and creamy except for the huge pieces of nuts in a single scoop of what tasted like icy cold, nicely spiced carrot cake. Cream cheese icing flavor swirled throughout– decadent but worth every calorie. The gentleman behind the counter was very personable, poured a cold glass of water to go with it. Made us feel very welcome.

Ice cream was out of this world, but the best part about it was the Abels, so sweet and welcoming! Highly recommend coming by for a scoop after a day at the beach!

Wonderful ice cream and service! Between the 3 of us we tried the praline, captains triple chocolate, and cookies and cream. All the good reviews we read were spot on. Offer a loyalty card. One freebie after 10 purchases.

Out of the creamy praline, zesty coffee and coconut almond, we loved the creamy praline! They had so many other flavors though. Mrs. Abel was inviting and very sweet. We got two scoops each and the wife wasn’t even able to finish hers because there was so much. Their ice cream is certainly able to satisfy your ice cream appetite!

Mmm ice cream! This place is much better than Olaf’s on siesta key, and it’s located right over the bridge to the island! The chocolate with raspberry & raspberry cups is amazing. For $ 3.41 you get 1 very generous scoop. The flavor is perfectly balanced. The vanilla with peanut butter is also excellent! My biggest pet peeve with ice cream is that when you order cookie dough for example there is never enough cookie in the ice cream, not here. Staff is also very welcoming and encourages sampling! This is my new favorite.

Homemade ice cream in nearly 30 varieties! We stopped in after a hot day at the beach looking to get cooled off. The owner was so nice! He came over and gave us cold water while we ate. I had pistachio and coconut pineapple. I mean, it was so delicious. The pistachios where whole. The pineaple was chunky and creamy. Great ice cream! The owner is from Buffalo, NY. They know food! This guy knows ice cream!

Landside before crossing into Siesta Key is this locally owned and award winning ice cream gem. There are fresh waffle cones, with plenty of ice cream choices to definitely find your favorite. Besides the ice creams there are trays of truffles. Water is always offered which is the little extra touch that makes them special. Plenty of tables to enjoy your ice cream indoors and a couple of chairs out front too. Plenty of parking out front with the Stonewood Plaza.

My girlfriends and I had two cars full of sweaty kids straight off the beach and were in desperate need of some cones to finish the day. After circling Siesta Village trying to find a place to park and then being chased off by an angry parking lot troll(there was NOT a sign btw) we figured it’d be easier to head into town. We immediately Unilocaled and found this gem only a few minutes away and with ample parking! The owners were so sweet and attentive to the kids and the ice cream was perfect… this is just a happy little place.

An excellent ice cream shop off of Stickney Point Rd close to Siesta Key. My family and I tried 5 different types of ice cream here, and we enjoyed all of them. We’ve also had Big Olaf’s ice cream in Siesta Key Village, which apparently is super popular because they’re always busy. But my family unanimously agrees that Abel’s is the better choice. Better ice cream, better pricing, muuuuuch easier parking. I’d really say that Abel’s is 4.5 stars, because being from Ohio, I’m a Jeni’s/Graeter’s fanboy… but since those options aren’t available in Florida, I’ll give Abel’s 5 stars!
