Good service, good desserts and good coffee. Nothing super decadent or amazing but good. Cute little place that seemed to have a lot of regulars who knew the staff and other customers. They welcomed us right in and even recommended a few things. I would visit again. Burns Square has a lot of neat little eateries and shops.

Place is very dirty. Saturday is a disaster there. Owner runs around like it’s his first day of work and doesn’t manage his dreadful Saturday staff. Here’s an idea… keep your fingers out of the inside of the coffee cup!!!

Ugh, this place has gone downhill so much in the past few years. More of a sandwich place with limited pastries and mediocre coffee. It’s located in a fabulous spot on Main Street and my favorite is to sit outside on Saturday mornings as part of our Farmer’s Market routine. We went one evening when we had a pastry craving and they had live music. It was awkward and weird, only 2 other couples there, the musicians were acting like they were on a world tour… it was all so strange. I had a smore’s brownie and it was hard and sticky, way too difficult to eat(especially in front of people) so we took it home and it grew stale on our cabinet because it just wasn’t good enough to bother with. Service has consistently been bad the past couple of years, they are rude, they ignore you and act bothered… just not worth our effort anymore.

Coffee is nothing spectacular. It sits in these thermos container which I’ve never been a fan of. Pastries were just okay… for being a pastry shop I expected more. Not the most friendliest staff either.

I love going here when I’m downtown. It’s a nice alternative to Starbucks especially since I have limited time in the morning and I’m able to get in and out of there in just a couple minutes. They have the best oversized blueberry muffins I’ve ever had.

A fun place with nice folks welcoming you when you enter. The muffins were really good but the coffee was just meh. My latte was too hot(a bad sign for a latte) and there was no art indicating an issue texturing the milk. A lot of potential for this place… perhaps more barista training would help.

Yummy sandwiches, wraps, coffees, and pastries. Not a good place to do homework or anything online because there are no outlets to plug into a power source. Also the employees sometimes argue behind the counter which is not appealing and is disruptive to the atmosphere of the place. The place does have nice art to look at and otherwise had good food for reasonable prices.

Stopped coming here. Coffee and pastries are good but your staff is awful. Too many bad experiences.

There’s nothing here I don’t like. I love the food, but wish it had more pastry’s to choose from, considering their name. From what selection they did have, I chose the cannoli. Now, my great-grandpa Aneglini was as Italian as it gets, so it’s hard to impress me with a cannoli, but they really did. The cream filling was smooth and had a perfect amount of chocolate chips, and the casing was crunchy with a light dusting of powdered sugar. I ordered a second one after I finished my first to take home, they were so good. On top of this great food, they had such wonderful atmosphere. It’s small but cozy, and they always have some kind of performing artist there. Usually someone playing guitar, but I’ve seen some reading poetry or something. Great stuff. I highly recommend.

While I enjoy the pastries and coffee, the repeated bad staff attitudes make me wonder if it is worth it. I love the chocolate dipped almond logs, but would prefer it weren’t served with annoyance. Very crowded during the Farmers Market, so much so the staff can audibly be heard referring to it as hell. I’m sure it sucks, but don’t take it out on customers that have been nothing but polite.

It was ok… Served its purpose– afternoon dessert and coffee. However, dessert was subpar, at best. Cookies are fat and hard, have the texture of a scone. Truffles have a delicious texture but the liquore used messes with the chocolate flavor. Coffee was good, though. 2.5−3

Despite their reliably good coffee I gave up on Pastry Art a few years ago for two reasons. The first reason was the unreasonably surly service provided by(non-proprietor) staff. Absent the owner, the alternatively coiffed and decorated attendants varied from grudging to outright combative. The second reason concerned Sarasota’s merry band of stinking, aggressive street bums. Taking one’s coffee outdoors meant preparing for a visual, nasal and/or verbal assault should one of these gruesome creatures sit close. And sit close they did, attempting to cadge money by intimidation. On the insistence of a colleague, I recently returned. Happily, the service is acceptable, and the panhandler problem appears to have evaporated. Whether that has any connection with the rent-a-cop lurking about that part of Main is open to conjecture, but in three visits I have yet to be harassed. The coffee remains excellent.

I love this local gem! The baristas told me when ordering which items were fresh out of the oven. It was something I may not have tried had I not known this nugget of advice, but ohmygoodnesswasitevergood! The velvetto is a house drink. I’ve also tried their homemade croissant breakfast sandwich. Yummmmmmm!!!

Hot coffee, cool people, strong ‘expresso’ and sweet pastries. I love it! I just wish their double espresso was a little more ‘grande’.

Props to this place. They are all about customers and their satisfaction whether it be through food or service/experience. Bonus is they have a nice environment inside with live music at times and sunny space or outdoor seating without smoking now. They serve drinks and food. Nothing out of this world but good enough — enjoyable enough, especially with bonus of the environment.
