Cute shop. A lot of flavors to choose from. They make ice cream in a unique way, made to order very refreshing.

I spent Christmas holiday with some friends in Florida. After a wonderful afternoon at the beach we decided to have pizza and noticed the Subzero close by. I was Excited to try their ice cream after their appearance on Shark tank. We made several orders of different flavored ice cream blends and even got different color changing cups. It was fun to watch them smoke up and mix the ice cream. Everything was great until I tasted metal. Somehow a shiny penny was mixed into the contraption and into my ice cream. When I went to the counter to tell them of the mishap, they insisted that they didn’t put the penny into my cup and subtly insisted that I had done it. I didn’t approach them accusingly, I only wanted to make them aware so that the mistake didn’t happen again to their customers. The manager seemed very rude and didn’t offer a refund although I wasn’t asking for one. One of the ladies that worked there said she doesn’t know how it happened but the shiny penny did look like one that was From their register because they had just put in new coins not long before I had placed my order. Had the manager been more courteous of his customers this simple mistake would have been forgivable. This ice cream shop has so much potential but I will never forget the metal tasting penny that was mixed into my ice cream.

Had the almond milk vegan ice cream with amaretto and dark chocolate flakes… very tasty! Happy there is a place I can go to for vegan ice cream when a craving hits!

Absolutely love the concept at Subzero! It’s so simple and freshest tasting ice cream I’ve ever had. Saw this on Shark Tank first and wondered if it is gimmicky or works. Upon hearing we were first timers, the very patient server explained the process. You pick your liquid, ice cream, custard, yogurt, almond milk(vegan) or lactose free. I chose the almond and was extremely satisfied. Next, you choose a flavor, or two. So many options! Then you choose your mix ins, candy, nuts, fruit etc. And next you watch the magic happen right before your eyes. For you chemistry geeks, it’s really about the science in how liquid nitrogen freezes the liquid into ice cream in about 15 seconds. For those who don’t want to customize, they have already created tried and true options. Yumminess is what happens. They also have smoothies and shakes. My daughter loved her strawberry smoothie. The owner told us that he owns this one, located on Clark rd in Sarasota and the siesta key location. Another one will be coming to Fort Myers soon. None in Tampa as of yet, but highly recommend stopping by when in the area for your cup or waffle cone of deliciousness! Final verdict, it works!

If I read one more review about this being vegan friendly I’m going to nitrogen freeze myself. The end product is disappointing and the five step process is gimmicky. $ 4.59 for a basic small, no extra mix. A family of four would spend near $ 25 for a refreshing treat. Two stars for trying. All the best.

The experience is fun, but the final product, not so much. The ice cream tasted like condensed syrup. A few people said it might be because the employees haven’t gotten the hang of properly using the liquid nitrogen yet.

The experience is even cooler than their delicious frozen treats! This four part, custom made process ends with a nitrogen flourish that has to be seen to be appreciated.

1. Something for everyone including vegans and those that otherwise avoid dairy. The staff know which toppings are suitable for vegans. 2. Friendly staff 3. Clean and spacious. 4. Kids love watching the process 5. Several high-chairs

So much fun! Wish they had more chocolate mix in options — only have shavings and brownie dough. Staff is great. We’ve been back many times to try to come up with an even better combination.

Create your own ice cream. Just about everything you can think of, and it’s even vegan friendly if you need it to be!

This place is THE schnizzle. Not the schnizzle… THE schnizzle !!! First of all, it does not get any fresher than this. It is literally frozen right in front of you!!! You choose the liquid(premium ice cream, custard, low fat ice cream, yogurt(fat free), almond(dairy free/vegan), no sugar added and finally lactose free. Then you choose your flavor(50+ choices) Then you pick out your mix(fruit/nuts/etc) Then it is frozen into ice cream form under a shower of liquid nitrogen. Very clean place. Very friendly and patient staff. There is literally something for everyone here. Kids go crazy when the product gets frozen as there is a big cloud of smoke and hissing sound. I like ice cream. I like custard. I like frozen yogurt. This place has it all in one place. I very highly recommend SubZero.

Pretty cool concept! Making ice cream out of liquid nitrogen is fun to watch. The ice cream itself tastes more like frozen yogurt than ice cream, so if you like that, then this place is great!

Super creamy custard! Make sure to try the Peanut Butter Bonds combination — it is out of control! I loved the nitrogen gas(is that the right way to type it?!) and the ‘Breaking Bad’ theme. It is more expensive than regular Fro-Yo but it was also more delicious.

We loved this place! The staff and owner were delightful and there was an entire vegan menu with dozens of choices! My daughter got the bubblegum ice cream and I got the peanut butter with chocolate chips. Both with the almond milk base. Even the smallest portion was a bit large for me, and the medium for my daughter was huge! Next time we’ll split a small! We will be back. P. S. I almost gave this place 5 stars, but generally save that for all-veg spots. But overall, these guys rock! Very cool to have this super vegan friendly ice cream option, and I’m sure the kiddo would have given it 5 stars!

Flash freeze ice cream with liquid nitrogen. Saw this on TV and wanted to try it. The best part is the amount of options including custard, no sugar, lactose free, vegan, and gluten free ice cream. During December it probably isn’t the best time for ice cream but I imagine this place is amazing during the blazing summers. Best part was the vegan options and the owner came up to make sure our almond milk ice cream was acceptable for vegans. His wife is a vegan advocate and that’s cool in my book. Good experience but not sure the next time we’ll be back.

Cryogenic Ice Cream that would make Ted Williams envious. Ok – the process is cool. You start with liquid, get a shot of Nitrogen, lots of smoke and mirrors, and voila; ice cream! Bottom line; it comes down to the taste. It’s just ok, hence the 3 star. The prices are very reasonable too(on the cheap side for the amount you receive). The large is beyond large, and I can eat, believe me, and this was too much for me. Overall, I’ll be back to bring guests to see the magic moreso, than strictly for the ice cream.
